running win 7 64bit RTM
uguru works fine not sure people are having fits

Anyone else having eSata issues with Win7x64 RTM? One of my esata drives is seen as hotp-pluggable the other isn't.
I apologize if this has been asked before but is it at all worthwhile to crossfire video cards with this board? With the new ATI cards out there should be some bargains in a few months, thinking two 4770's.
^ Brilliant!!
Can someone please confirm if these are BETA or Final versions.
Thanks.

Thanks Paradigma.
Since you use version 17, can you re-enter BIOS assuming you use a USB Keyboard and have AHCI enabled?
Thanks.
I just tried to get my Abit IP-35 Pro board from standby. The board didn't start up any more and looped at post code 9.0.
Apparently this means:
"9.0. Complete µGuru initial process AWARD BIOS take over booting job 1. Power on -> Stop at 9.0. 2. 0.0.-> 8.3. -> 9.0. Award BIOS initial stop processing
1. OC too high 2.BIOS dead
1. Clear CMOS 2. Restore default setting for BIOS 3. Replace BIOS chip 4. Send to RMA at last"
After clearing the CMOS it would boot the second time it restarted, but it won't run at anything higher than stock. I used to run this thing fine 24/7 @3.6 by just bumping the frontbus to 400.
I have had the board since january 2008, and since 3 and 4 are probably out of the question is there anything I can do to remedy this, or should I start looking for another board? :(
Edit: I am using Beta Bios 18 and specs are in signature.
Edit2: After looking again the board went through the 8.3 > 9.0 sequence, so I sent it to RMA.
anyone knows if the IDE driver's problem is general in windows 7 or exist only on the ip35 pro motherboard?
hey guys. i'm not computer savy. how do i make a raid driver disk for f6 during installation of windows 7? actually, i'd rather use my usb flash drive if it's possible like in Vista. i downloaded the manual and it only instructs how to make the disk using a cd that came packaged with the mobo. i need to use the newest driver posted on the first page of this thread. do I simply copy the contents of the driver folder onto a diskette or flash drive? if someone could help me i'd appreciate it. I'm only using 1 sata hard drive so I have no need for raid drivers. i just want to make sure I do the clean install properly. i wonder if f6'ing is even required for windows 7 for only 1 sata hd. i've googled for half an hour and can't find the answer.
U don't need no aditional drivers for single disk under Windows 7 instalation process. Latter, after instalation have finished you are free to update any driver u think that it is necessary. There is an RAID driver from Intel included in Windows 7, so you don't need to load one during install.
Hi, is anyone using a 5850 with their IP35 Pro? I have one coming in the mail and am trying to decide whether to keep my existing rig or upgrade. Any feedback would be appreciated. I will be running Win7 64bit once I either install the new GPU or build a new system. Note: I've always run my board and CPU at stock. Memory is running at rated speed. So am wondering if I can get this OC'd a little bit if it really would be worth upgrading my entire build or not. Will I be CPU limited in games, etc?
New Card: ASUS EAH5850/G/2DIS/1GD5 Radeon HD 5850 1GB 256-bit GDDR5
So, if I should keep my current system then any suggestions on settings to try for an easy overclock would be mucho appreciated.
Current Rig:
ABIT IP35 Pro LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard BIOS 17
Intel C2D E6850 Conroe @ 3.0GHz LGA 775 65W
Tuniq Tower 120 Universal CPU Cooler 120mm Cooling Fan
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2@1000 (PC2 8000)
OCZ GameXStream OCZ700GXSSLI 700W ATX12V SLI Certified CrossFire Ready
Possible New Rig:
ASUS Maximus III Formula LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
Intel Core i7-860 Lynnfield 2.8GHz LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Processor Model
COOLER MASTER Intel Core i7 compatible V8 RR-UV8-XBU1-GP 120mm Rifle CPU
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2000 (PC3 16000)
CORSAIR CMPSU-750HX 750W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80
With the potential on your dispose (9x400=3600Mhz) you should not worry. That should be enough for a new card, especially in high resolutions.
Thanks for the info. Well, as luck would be on my side today the package arrived so I am going to start messing with the 5850 once I get the overclock figured out. If anyone can help with a few tips I would sure appreciate it. I've had to set my vcore in BIOS to 1.37. This is because of the vdroop right? This gets it to show 1.35v in BIOS voltage monitoring after a reboot. However, CPUz shows it as 1.36 most of the time. Now, here is what I tried:
e6850@400x9=3.6
vcore=1.40
memory set to 800, 5,5,5,18.
From what I understand I want to set the memory timings as above in order to figure out the CPU limitations. I suspect I need to adjust the other CPU settings for voltage in the BIOS, but not sure what. With the above I booted into Vista and it was fine until I ran Orthos. Orthos stopped on error almost immediately. So I figured I would get my memory set at its rated speed first. Here are my current settings:
e6850@333x9=3.0
vcore=1.37
memory set to 1000, 5,5,5,15,45,2T, 2.1v
Any suggestions or pointers on how to start OC'ing the CPU? Can I keep the memory settings as above or will I have to run them at 800 when OC'ing the CPU? I haven't done any overclocking (quite obviously) since the old Celeron days so please forgive the stupid questions. I will admit I don't know the first thing about doing an OC these days. =) I am going to do some searches on here, but thought I would post in the meantime. I would like to get this 5850 installed and run some benchmarks in case anyone else is thinking of upgrading.

can anyone direct me to a version on uguru that works with W7? Tried 3109 with no luck and I cant seem to find any links for 3103 which I read somewhere works in W7. Thanks to all that can help
thanks but I use an oc profile when I really need the horsepower and run almost stock 24/7 ....little easier to do this within uguru than booting to the bios each time....its more of a convenience than anything else...at least for me
µGuru killed abit
^ No, if I'm not mistaken it was one of the executives that swindled the company, among other things.
I have tried 3109 in every mode in W7 that I could think of and all allowed me to set my default speed at pretty much whatever I wanted(within reason of course) but as soon as I tried to edit profiles ...prog would crash....I read on another forum another poster was using 3103 and it was working to some extent...
I just bought a Q9550 and pop in this board but it just wont post,i'd even flashed to bios 18 beta,it keeps on shut off after 5 sec. Any advice to get it work ? thanks in advance
I'm glad abit are dead. They have sucked ever since the NF7 days just after they let Oscar & Co go. Good riddance to a company that time and again showed they could build awesome hardware then bungle it beyond belife with crappy BIOSes and incompetent programmers.
I'm pretty sure it has never been fixed....works great in earlier bios...cant remember which one I'm running but its been working flawless...now if someone could provide a link to Uguru 3103 I would really appreciate it :)
Never mind the Uguru...I found a link to all of them
I ordered a q9550 last week and now I see a lot of people have trouble booting with it. I sure hope it's a problem mostly with ip35 pro as I got the regular board. Do they use different BIOS?
I see on the first page that the link to v18 bios is m629b_18.bin while the v18 for the regular board is m630a18.
I'll let you know how it goes when my cpu arrives.
Is the ip35 without an LLC setting?
Yea the vdroop is just awful :(
The IDE port, as well as the eSATA port, both run off the JMicron controller chip.

Hey guys, quick question here, I've been searching for a definite answer as to whether the IP35 Pro supports the Q9650 E0 stepping...
I've found one dirt cheap and I'm thinking of getting it, however some people have had luck with their Ip35s and others not (no POST)...
Can someone clarify this for me?
AFAIK, with the later BIOSes (16 and up) the 45nm procs are supported.
Probably up to the BIOS version.Flash the newest BIOS with your current CPU.
I think it should because Abit was still working when 45nm quads went retail.
edit:overtaken :D
Guys a noob question.
Ive loaded default settings and when i press the power button it starts with memory testing.
How can i disable it in the bios?I couldnt find the exact setting for changing it!
thanks,Nasos
Thank you Aztec! :)
Seeing this thread make it this far & still going makes me feel good I got this board; but now it's that time. Moving onto i7 so everyone here take care.
One last thumbs up to Abit Usa, only motherboard company I had thus far
Hey it's a great, reliable mobo. I'm not building a new rig until next year.
I love seeing an active Abit thread, and even though I never owned an IP35-Pro I have owned five IP35-E boards and still have an IX38 Quad GT running strong.
Nah. 16 is running fine for me, thx. :)
Yup, please do it man! Long live our Abits! :)
so I just got back from vacation with 16GB of pictures and every time I look for a picture, my thumbnails loads very slowly (approx 1 min).
mucked around my BIOS, loaded Ace-a-Rue suggestion
Good: Thumbnails now loads uber-fast
Bad: It also cleared all my recent programs....FF3 bookmarks...forgot create a restore point
Good: Got tons more space on my HD
well after loading some my backups from my USB flash drive, I forgot to remove it during restart.
Now LED post is at 50, which says I have to clear CMOS.
So I did with the external RESET button, the inside RESET button, shorted the 3-pin, removed the battery for 5 secs....and I'm still stuck at 50 error...the only thing USB connected is my kb/mouse:shakes:
any other suggestions?
advance thanks
Stock, or "ZZZ" versions from here?
Not sure if this is bug or not. I am running the Beta 18 bios.
Ive been using a WDC 250GB for my boot drive for the longest time now. and just got around to upgrading my HDDs in this rig from 2x250GB and 4x500GB (all WD drives) to 4x WD 1TB Tried using one of the 500GB drive for a boot drive. Here is my Problem.
Regardless of the OS i am using, i can install my OS to the drive. but the on the next power cycle the bios fails to boot from drive. i don't get the "BOOT DISK FAILURE" the bios just freezes and at the top screen i get 2 red lines and the Post LEDs read FF. i went back and used one of the 250GB WDC drive and it work just fine and will boot on the next power cycle. I tried using a WD 320GB and its fail on the next power cycle. i can still use any of the drives as storage drives just not as the boot drive. so any drive larger 250GB regardless of manufacture will not boot if use as the boot drive.
I tried looking thou near 300pages for something similar but couldn't find any thing.
Image of Bios screen trying to Boot from the WD3200AAKS, screen is the same with any drive larger then 250GB
Did you try both IDE and AHCI modes?
Yes, all 3 modes; IDE, Raid and, AHCI mode all have the same problem. Ive even used a PCI and PCIe sata controller and even still get the problem. even used and IDE 500GB and get the same problem.
Not sure if i can roll back to an earlier bios and see if the problem arises.
What changes are in the updated storage controller ROMs? I am currently using the stock 18 BIOS from the Abit website, but I'd be willing to try the 18.ZZZ with updated ROMs.
Thanks for your offer!
Honestly, I have no idea. Somebody reported a massive decrease of RAID rebuild time using 8.9.1.1002 ROM with a different motherboard, but that same ROM does not seem to function with RAID on the IP35 Pro. The latest fully working ROM is 8.5.0.1023, and that's what would be included, along with JMB363 ROM 1.07.14 and Phoenix AHCI Option ROM 01.06.70 (dated 08-13-2008).
Hey... people are still playing around with this board? Good on you guys. It's too bad Abit don't make Mobos anymore... they made some of the best boards for tweakers.
I even used the M629B18.ZZZ bios and still no luck. I went as far back as M629B14.bin, Ive even removed all other HDDs, DVD roms. I even tried USB HDD boot and even the esata and still nothing.
Sigh I really liked this Mobo, it has served me well for the last 2 years. well I guess this would be the best time for looking in to upgrading. funds permitting.
Normally I can figure things out and fix them on my own or with a bit research. but this has got me. with my luck its something stupid simple that I am forgetting.
Is there a way to check which BIOS version I am using? I'm kinda curious. Also curious it seems like the majority of people for the most part use BIOS v17, how come BIOS 15 are on the website for everything?
Also when I'm doing something if I need to shut down or if my comp messes up and shuts down and it gives me the Windows has shut down blah blah it will start as normal in 30seconds or push any key. (More or less) Has any of the BIOS updated so a USB keyboard can work for this? My old school one works for this but not my USB one.
CPU-Z will tell you your BIOS information.
BIOS 15 does not exist, what are you talking about?
Unfortunately nobody has attempted to fix the glitch with USB keyboards not being able to enter BIOS (seems like that's only the case if AHCI is enabled). I think BIOS 16 and earlier are unaffected.
I have an IP35-E, and just installed a Q9550 in it, see cpu-z pics.
I'm posting here so others that still have the IP35-E will know that they can install a 9550. There was very sparse info on the web. Mild overclock to 3.2 (missing 8.5 mulitplier). I have some more tuning to do, ie memory and vid card, but I'm quite happy right now.

Hey Ligushka, thanks for the link. Its working now, w00t!
This is what I'm talking about. http://www.abit.com.tw/cpu-support-l...l_p35_ip35.htm If you click it, it will take you to the BIOS page but whys it have the BIOS 15?
So for a Q9550, BIOS 17 vs. 18? What is the difference exactly?
You are looking at IP35's CPU support list, not IP35 Pro's.
I don't think there are any changes of beta BIOS 18 that would affect your Q9550 unless you had an E0 stepping. If yours does, then you should probably use 18 (check CPU-Z and it will tell you the stepping). You can read this thread to know the microcode-specific changes of the 18 beta BIOS.
@insaneninjaguy: glad to know that the updated ROMs actually do something.
@faheyd: this thread is about the IP35 Pro, not the IP35-E. Maybe you should post in this thread?
Hi all,
Is anybody managed to have uGuru working on Windows 7 32bit?
I am just interested about the overclocking features (frequency & voltage), frequency seems to work in v3.1.0.9, but changing the voltage in a no go.
Anyone having success with uGuru and Win7, please share.
So I am like 100% sure I disabled EIST or whatever and the other power saving dealies long ago but in CPU-Z they still fluctuate constantly! I dunno if this messes with my comp when running games it might go to full voltage then but I was looking in CPU-Z and shows 1x (BIOS:10). Do you guys know if this is common for these BIOS?
This appears to be the best forum for this mainboard.
Guys I broke my mainboard. I had a computer open next to this IP35 Pro machine and had SATA cables running from the one to this mainboard so I didn't have to uninstall the HDD's from their cage. Well I descided to move the computer, thought I was done, and the locking SATA cables ripped apart my onboard SATA 1/2 box (attachment thing) and now it will not work. SATA 1 and 2 are down on my IP35 Pro. I know I should upgrade VS fixing this mainboard but I really want to have it repaired.
How much could it cost to have this fixed by ABIT?
:help:
Abit went belly up a year ago. I don't know who would repair it now. Why not give it a nice funeral and get another board?
Nooooo !! They're gone? Wow
That sucks, really does. I liked that company.
It still functions but SATA 1 and 2 are down. I'm not ready to upgrade yet. The stuff costs so damn much now and I'm making even more than I was before this build.
I don't want to spend the cash on DDR3 yet. That RAM can get cheaper before I buy it. Same with SSD's.
ABIT gone....
Was thinking of going with AMD this time because I hate the G.D. processor install method for Intel that much. No matter how precise I follow the instructions I feel like I am damaging the mainboard or about to get thermal paste everywhere it shouldnt be. I'll sacrifice the 30% speed for less frustration. Saves me about $100.00 also, maybe more.
I just wonder how much of an upgrade a Phenom II x4 would be over my E8600. Any comment to that? I'm researching now. An AMD route I can do (eventually) as long as I can remain competitive with my favorite online games.
I'm almost sad to hear ABIT is gone.
Thank you.
Whats wrong with a E8600?? Hows about a new board instead? I just got a Gigabyte EP45-UD3P to replace a ab9-pro that died...awesome board and bios too. $135-$20 rebate!
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=205132
I seriously can not bear the thought of having to mount another Intel CPU the way they have you do it right now. I dislike it that much.
Man, I still have my first ABIT mainboard from 1998...
Anyway, I don't want to reinvest in the socket 775 anymore than I have to. If I replace it I want to move forward, you know.
I really liked my IP35 Pro. I'll look into having it repaired privatly. The SATA 2 still works but its on the same mounting unit as port 1.
For less than $250 I can upgrade (if it is) to an AMD Phenom II x4 system.
I won't be able to sell this mainboard on Ebay I bet. I'll look into having it fixed privatly. Should I just look at "Chuck-in-a-Truck" repair shops. I've never had to deal with one.
This is a great piece of hardware. Not sure what I'm going to do, nope.
If you hate the pushpin method so much, buy a bolt-through kit. You will probably get better temperatures as a result.
Update!
My IP35 Pro is whole again. The SATA port is in perfect working shape and some finely applied super glue fixed the housing damage.
Not that anyone should care, lol...
I have been having some problems with the ethernet adapters on this board. When I leave the computer on for longer periods of time the internet will simply stop working, even though other computers on the network are working fine. Restarting either the modem or my computer works but is inconvineint. I think this may have something to do with the drivers, I'm running win 7 64bit and have the vista drivers from the board disk for one adapter and the one downloaded from realteks site on the other. If anyone has any suggestions or a link to a good driver that would be appriciated.
Both of the onboard NICs use the same Realtek driver. You can obtain the latest Realtek NIC driver here.
I don't know if anyone cares but windows uodate provided me with a functional driver and the internet has been working ever since.
After sitting on the shelf for nearly a year I dusted off my IP35 PRO and threw it into a case intending to use it as an everyday/lite gaming rig. I got everything settled with a megahalem CPU cooler with gentle typhoon fans in push/pull. I slotted 2gb of OCZ Flex 9200 which are running @SPD timings (5-5-5-18/2T) at 1128. I am running the 629b18 BIOS.
I did get a suprisingly decent oc of of the CPU on air considering this board's age.
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2.../e86004700.jpg
I started oc'ing it last night with the intention of having some 3D01 fun with it. 3D 01 isn't all the way stable yet...but if I put my best individual 3D01 test scores into the 3D01 score calculator I will (eventually) get close to this result:
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...2690oncalc.jpg
Today's task is to put a run together that achieves this. Once I get to this score I'll post it with the surrounding voltages, GFX oc's etc.
I'm not surprised - my IP-35 Pro has been awesome since I bought it and there has been no degradation in it's ability to overclock my Q6600 to 3.6GHz 24/7! Can't find a reason to upgrade so far...
It's great to see this thread still alive. I know this board is on the old side now, but I still love mine!
I wanted to ask you guys a question. Has anyone used a Western Digital 1.5TB Caviar Green with this board or the ICH9R in general? (WD15EADS) The reason I ask is that I've heard of problems accessing drive bigger than 1 TB. Is this just a problem in IDE mode? I'll be using RAID, btw, since I have two 500GB in a RAID0 configuration.
Sorry for my ignorance on the subject, but I've never owned a drive larger than 500GB. Figured I'd get the green for backups. Any info would be much appreciated.
