Here is my 3849B041 at 4200mhz at 1.25v. It will also do 4500 mhz Prime but needs 1.40v. This is on water with the 920 on its own loop.:D

*BUMP*
This thread died out, im interested if anyone has any results of recent batches over last 2-3 months to present?
A micro-test, i have only 2gb of ram for now, i'm waiting for a new kit: gskill trident ddr3 2000.

vcore: 1.24v
vtt: 1.21v.
Dram: 1.64v.
I havent yet read all the pages in this thread but can someone let me know what are the gem 920/w3520 etc volt ranges for 4.4 & 4.5ghz linx/prime stable on H20?
I have 920 batch# 3849B018 4.3ghz @1.3V. Don't know if that can be called a gem
I'm afraid such range doesn't exist.
I think that my 920 used for 4.5G LinX club is ~1.26v 4.4g LinX stable.
It's a low voltage chip, so it runs very hot at 1.26v and scales much slower above that voltage.
In the end, it doesn't overclock better, or run cooler than other 4.5G club CPUs, except that the voltage looks good.
There is not a hard agreed upon range, but I'd say around 1.35v for 4.5GHz HT on for full LinX/Prime95 stability on water would be considered a gem cpu.
Mine does 4.5GHz HT on full stable at 1.32v, I've not seen anyone do better on water, but I've seen a 1.34v and some around 1.35 - 1.40v. The high leakage cpu's that run on low vcore are usually very hard to keep cool.
Maybe not quite a gem, but it's certainly good.
My cpu is same batch and takes 1.112v for 4GHz, 1.168v for 4.2GHz, 1.216v for 4.3GHz, 1.256v for 4.4GHz, and 1.32v for 4.5GHz. Most consider my cpu a gem or if not, close to it.
My database of batches found here: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=238451
is probably one of if not the most comprehensive on the web. Not sure how current it is but is pretty good up to late 2009.
Some old pictures of my W3520 3848A352:

Not the lowest vcore, but runs very cool compared to others I'v seen.
Yeah I forgot about your cpu sniper, and come to think of it there was another guy as well who's cpu was also very close to mine. Best 3 i7's I ever saw for low vcore.
In general I think some of the 3849Bxxx cpu's run with lowest vcore, but they also tend to run quite hot.
Yes, same here. The VID is very low, defaults to 1.02 - 1.03v when left on auto in BIOS. It was uncontrollable on aircooling at anything over 4.2GHz @ 1.168v. High end water is a must have to keep the temps under control.
Here is my 3849B041.
nice results ppl and cheers for replies. Those low VID chips have great vcore but run mega hot need high-end H20 definetly to make'em shine
I can do linx @ 4470 with a true on mine, so its a pretty god all rounder. My 3845A935 is hot though, 4.3 is max with true.
I just picked up an i7-950 3003B871 from Microcenter. Anyone know how this batch does?
First post seems promising. These are the settings that were used on my last 920 and they seem to be working for my 950.

It was at the end of the test where it compiles the results, I just caught it at a weird time. So far I am at 4.41ghz w/ 1.4V 30 minutes burn test stable. Temps are getting near 70C so I think I will try to keep it around this point. Definitely not a golden chip but its nice to not be limited by multiplier and bus speed.
Just a quick and dirty OC with HT OFF to test a GTX580 ...
I will try to get more of this one ;)

I'm just on my "oc session" right now ... past 5 runs max settings in IBT with the following settings:
210x21 ht on ( 4.4Ghz )
vcore: 1.325v
qpi: 1.34v
cpu pll: 1.6v
But crashing at Prime Blend... my guess it's IMC related so i've increased qpi vtt and qpi pll a little and running prime again.
I'm trying to reach 4.6Ghz HT on ... let's see... as soon as i have a stable system which i can bench i'll post it here :)
Update:
Ok...after some testing during today. This 920 is a good performer, but @ 4.6 it takes some qpi to keep it running :)

Tomorrow i'll do some super pi 32M testing and AIDA64 memory benchmark ...
This is how it's running in cruise mode:

Finally a good cpu to play with :)
