@All,I use IP35 Pro+E2160+500GB Cavier SE SATA(Boot) and Segate 7200.7 160GB SATA.It will post but it will stuck at the black screen before window and won't load os.Is there any known issue on this combo? No raid and using offical bios 17.
Posting for a friend..
Hes running BIOS 17 on the IP35 Pro, and hes not able to boot with the E8600. It boots once or twice, erratically.
The error hes getting "8.7." which is CPU Voltage Error.
What should he do?
Did you try resetting the CMOS with the power disconnected for about 5min?
Then when you startup go to BIOS and set a voltage over what your CPU requires. For example, try setting it to 1.4v in bios and then set your memory voltages etc all to the correct level as required. Then turn off speed step and C1E in the BIOS as well. That will lock the voltage in for the CPU. See if it's stable. I'm not entirely confident in a board regulating the CPU voltage automatically.
has anyone worked with the Rebels haven 17 Beta Bios? Can someone tell me what the PL levels actually do? Im having one heck of a time getting 4x1gb stable @DDR2 934 (4-4-4-12), I could use some advice on memory settings to change to help get this stable, Im running my CPU and RAM 1:1...mch=1.48, Vdimm=2.27
Does the Ip35-Pro have an issue with the E8600? I've seen a couple reports of the chips not running with this board. I notice that Abit doesn't list them as compatible.
I was thinking of buying an E8600 and running it at an easy 4Ghz. Now I'm not so sure that it'll work properly. Should I get an E8500 instead?
I just had a question for the masses in here. I currently own a IP35-Pro myself, but with Abit leaving the game, which companies are some of you looking to jump ship to?
I'm thinking of DFI, but Biostar is coming out with some good things as well.
I went to an ASUS P5Q-Deluxe for my P45. Nice board. Still like my IP35 Pro a lot though.
That's a shame; I really like DFI's products.
I am still not too sure what happened between them and AngryGames (proprietor of the former 'DFI-Street' website). If it was a shady situation up and they screwed him over...that would make me stay away from DFI (simply on principal).
Do you have any info on what happened? I heard it was something about DFI not wanting him to post some sort of 'hack' on the site...
Have you messed around with the DFI I45 board at all? I was thinking of grabbing one and willing my IP35 Pro system to my sister (needs a new system).
I think my next board whenever I do a complete system overhaul will be Asus. Always had good luck with their products and good overclockers as well.
Anyone know if Abit will update the BIOS one more time for the E8600 to function correctly?
If you're into gaming, the PCIe v2.0 is a pretty decent reason to move to a P45 board. High-end GPUs (9800GX2, GTX 2x0, HD4870 X2, etc) are flooding the PCIe v1.1 x16 bus, so we're actually needing the extra bandwidth provided by PCIe v2.0.
Aside from that, P45's should clock better, produce less heat, use less energy, and have better memory controllers.
Eller
Well I have a 4870 X2. But my benchmarks seem to be in line to similar systems with P45 chipsets, so I'm not sure if I'm convinced the PCIe 2.0 will do much. But as mentioned my IP35 has been acting weird lately, so I will probably get a new board anyway. I'll look forward to having something new to play with. I know this is a bit OT, but any recommandations? I sort of eyed out the Biostar board, but then I read it wasn't all that great for quads. I'm not sure if I want to fork out for a DDR3 board just yet, with Nehalem right around the corner and all, so...
TBH, I don't think it's OT to much. I mean look, we all realize that Abit is out of the game very soon so some of us need some sort of direction. IP35-Pro was my last & my KX7R was my first...I just want to go to a company that is at least half of what Abit was to me.
As I got a GTX260; think it's time to update, but with a new cpu on the horizon, not sure blowing $200+ is in order.
I doubt that the 4870x2 could saturate the PCI-E 1.1 bus. Looks like your results prove it, so I wouldn't see any need to get a P45 board unless your IP-35 stops working.
you don't get it:D...we have to come up with excuses in order to convince the mind a new board is needed!;)
Haha Ace-a-Rue, you're very much right there. I've been trying to come up with new reasons to get a new motherboard for a couple of days now!
I've been extremely pleased with my Abit board until now, when I got back to my computer after 3 months. Since then it's been acting extremely flakey, and nothing really seems to improve it. Things only got worse when I put in the new 4870 X2. I guess it's just time for fresh blood, and I don't really mind it. So anyway, I've eyed out the Asus P5Q Deluxe. This should be a good board for my needs, no?
:D
i am sure it is the PCIe 2.0 card trying to live within PCIe 1.1 specs and probably the bios code is deficent to properly handle that VC...so...don't expect abit to rectify that situation.
good luck with your new motherboard.:)
Ace and all, what's your opinion on Bios 17, are you using it? or should I stick with the 16 final? I have an e8400.
Thanks! :-)
i went with 17 to totally unlock my QX9650...16 did not allow me to raise the multi above default even though i am not using 10 or above...it was just i didn't like NOT having the option to go up...other than that, probably not a big difference between the two.
Awesome, thanks for the quick reply. I just wanted to make sure it was somewhat stable before I tried it. I still have that issue that when I clear CMOS it's hit or miss when I go to save bios settings... I get that false turn on / turn off thing a lot of the time. Once I get a good save, then I'm usually ok. It's the one thing that's always bothered me about this board, otherwise it's great.
i never had the save problem...it saves without powering down except for a CAS change or Command Rate change...i think those require it to shutdown, but not sure since i leave those alone, meaning i set CAS=5 and CR=2 and never touch them again.
yeah, I either have a slightly defective board that I just live with, or it's my power supply, which is a Corsair HX-620. I've heard of compatibility issues with this unit (although I tried another power supply once when I was having the problem and it did the same thing, so who knows)
i should add...the board use to shutdown with the older bioses like 14...the shutting down thing didn't stop until we got into the 16 beta's...why don't you try one of those?
I'm on the 16 Final now, but maybe I need to do a more aggressive bios clear when I flash the 17 final. I'll try the procedure recommended here when I get home, I'll let you know how I make out. I'm trying to hold out from buying a new board until x58 comes out. :-)
Thanks again for all of your help Ace!
ok, good luck..i hope it works properly for you after the flash.
Hello everyone!
Should I plug a molex in my motherboard?
i think the manual says it is an auxillary power source...i presume you do it if you have many PCIe cards plugged in to the board and want to make sure they all receive adequate power...it is probably another way to feed the cards if there is a lot of resistance in the inlayed wires in the PCB that feed those slots with power.
check page 1-6 of your manual.
I 've one video card in PCIEX so plugging isn't necessary?
Hi all
i'm now runing my ip 35 pro bios 17 , with an e6750 @ 3.2 24/7 and happy with it , i'm thinking of having e8400 . my question is : is it worth upgrading ?
i mean , will i get any noticable performance gain ?
thanks alot
I already got a 768 8800 GTX running on this board and someone is giving up PC gaming is handing me down another 768 8800 GTX...I know if I add this 2nd card I'm not running full speed on it...
...so is it even worth getting SLI 8800 GTX on this board?
...rest are in my sig....or should I give the 2nd card to another would-be PC gamer...he has P35 board but by Gigabyte forgot which one...and same CPU also
thanks
thanks guys
hi all
i had just finshed installing my new E8400 - after convincing my wife that i need it :) - thx Ace
now i'm runing 440 x 9 arround 4GH with this values :
vcore 1.255 / ichhio 1.65 / mch 1.33 / cpu vtt 1.16 /vdim 2.125
and i'm idling arround 36 ~ 38 and priming at 49 ~ 52 max load
can i push it further and still be safe - need advice aace
thx
hi
now i'm runing my new E8400 @ 4.05GH 450x9 with vcore 1.29 prime stable :)
need to know what are the decent graphic cards available now to pick one instead of my 8600 gt , a one that could cope with this new games like crysis warhead
searched for 8800 gtx but no luck , could it be the 9800 gt? as far as i know it is pcie 2.0 will it fit in the pro board?
thx
thx ACE for your quick reply but , more explanation plz .... or could you link me to whatever card in your mind ... hay man U R the boss here and i trust your choise :)
thx alot
ut-oh, i am on the spot now!;)
i read up on the 9800 gtx2, the 3870 x2 and 8800 ultra...it is an old review (mar 08) but it is a good review to help make your mind up...i would forget a 4870 x2 since they are not cheap!
here is the review..i hope it helps to make your mind up: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/...view,1792.html
I got back into pcs when ip35-pro came out and bought it without thinking I would upgrade much. A year later I am totaly back into pcs and the hd4870x2 is running fine on this board so far :)
I have one more question. What is JMicron SATA Driver V 1.17.37? Should I install it if I have Intel Matrix Storage and AHCI Driver installed?
Latest JMicron driver version is JMB36X_WinDrv_R1.17.42.06.
ftp://driver.jmicron.com.tw/jmb36x/Win2k_xp_Vista/
The JMicron chip controls only the eSATA ports and the IDE port.
Can be disabled in bios setup, if not being used.
Anyone here has Q9450. If someone does what are all of the bios settings you have used. :)
Thanks
I just installed Vista 32 on my IP35-pro, but I have no sound. (work perfect under XP).
I installed and re-installed Realtek hight definition audio driver (r194), nothing!
Is someone already have this problem??

Sorry if this was asked several times before, but I made a search of the thread and couldn't find nothing. I have a Q6600, and would like to know from the experts, what is the best BIOS for me?. I have now the official 14 version, maybe an update will improve my system?
Thanks!
what is wrong or does no suit you with the 14 bios?
The general consensus is that v.14 works best with 65nm CPUs. Later versions seem to be coded simply to address 45nm compatibility. I see no reason to update with a Q6600.
Well, even me flashed to B16 some time ago, and decided to go back to B14, just because it reports the volts right on CPU-Z. But now I got a 4870X2, and don't know if another BIOS (newer) would give me an extra boost. My first guess should be that doesn't have any benefit (for the video card), but I'm just asking if somebody knows something more concrete about it.
Hello everyone!
What do you think about this:
I have 1.53V on my E6750 everyday on Abit PRO of course. It is cooled by TT Big Typ. Will my CPU burn?
Anyone?
Temps? Stock fan?
I would like to report that BIOS 17 B05 works like a charm. The volts are reported right by CPU-Z and even had a gain in 3D (is a little more smooth). Is no placebo effect, since I made tests before and after flashing. I will be doing further testing in the next days, but for now, is a keeper.
I have 1.53V on my E6750 everyday on Abit PRO of course. It is cooled by TT Big Typ. Will my CPU burn?
During IntelBurnTest: 77C; during Orthos:68C; idle:45C.
1.53 it's a lot of voltage for daily use (my 2cents)
Flash from the past.
For a long time now I have been having a recurring problem with my PC (specs in signature).
When ever I turn my PC off I can't start it up again. The fans spin loud with no video feed to the monitor, and I get the C1 error code. I usually get the PC to boot by playing with the power switch, restart switch, or the PSU power switch. It is 99% stable to my knowledge as I have ran WCG, Prime, and OCCT. This happens every time I try to start the PC. I'm just afraid that I might not be able to start my PC one day when I really need it. :(
I searched for a solution in this thread but could not find one. (Maybe I didn't use the right search terms.) Sorry if this has already been discussed. :(
generally that is a memory problem...a couple of things you can try is to raise your Vdimm and/or loosen you memory timings.
if that does not work, also raise your vcore, ICHIO and MCH.
why don't you post your set voltages.
i do see that you have four sticks of memory...overclocking becomes more difficult in that configuration...generally the cure is to at least raise Vdimm, ICHIO and MCH....do it in small increments to see if that solves the problem.
i will be gone for a week so someone else can give you a helping hand to help you solve this little problem-O;)
Is the 17_B05 the official one on the Abit site dated 26/05/2008? Seems there's a beta B04 22/05/2008, or is this one M629B_17.ZZZ 25/06/2008 B05?
Thanks for the response. :)
I bumped the up the volts for the ICHIO and MCH one notch.
vCore Set in BIOS - 1.48, but drops to 1.43/1.44 stable
vdimm Set in BIOS - 2.225 Memory at 500mhz cas5
ICHIO - 1.70
MCH - 1.52
EDIT: The problem still occurs. I will try to relax the memory timings.
Is anyone using this board with an E8600, and with what BIOS?
OK have my first problem with this board in about a year.
Updated vista and rebooted. Well after the reboot my four gigs of ram which is still scene in bios and in vista in everything but task manager which shows that I am running off of 256mb ram. It is running off of 256 also as the vista log on is really slow and all that.
I tried switching around ram, different types of ram, resetting cmos, and everything I can think of to get it to work but it only uses 256mb now. I am guessing my memory controller or something is toast just wanted to ask before it gets replaced.
Thanks
It has some major issues.

Sorry, I think its 16, one of the ones bios haven mods. Worked great for the last few months.
In case anyone needs it, here's the link for BIOS's 10, 11, 12, 14, 16, and 17 for IP35 Pro. I'm finding 16 is working best for my particular setup. YMMV.
Link for BIOS's to IP35, IP35 Pro XE, IP35-E, IP35P, IP35V, and other abit boards.
I'm happy to report guys, this motherboard does work with an E8600 without issue. I'm using a rebelhavens beta bios. Its really too bad I just found this out, I already ordered a Gigabyte EP45 UD3R to replace this one.
what vista version are you using and did you install SP1?
are you aware that the 32 bit vista will only see a little over 3 gb's of system memory?...i noticed that SP1 install brings that up to 4 gb's if you have that installed but from my understanding, a 32 bit operating system cannot use more than 3.25 gigs of memory.
i am thinking the modded bios is throwing you a kink in the armor, sort of speak, unless you were using this modded bios with vista already and you just updated to SP1.
Ace I have 64bit vista with all updates. Ive been only running vista on this mobo since Igot it when the ip35pro first came out. It has ran relatively flawlessly but I have done alot of ocing on it. I had phase on it up to 545fsb, now its water cooled with my sig rig setup basically. The mobo has the vdroop mod done about 6months ago. It has been running flawlessly with the Q6600 from before and the current 3110 which Ive had for about 4 months or so. Didnt have any complaints really until.....
I noticed about a month ago that it was only showing 3.1gigs in task manager. I couldnt remember if that was normal or not since it still showed 4 gigs everywhere else.
Then the few days ago I updated and required a reboot. WHen it rebooted it took forever and when I finally got into windows I realized that it was only using 256mb of ram. Even in safe mode. I checked with cpuz, hardware monitor, everest and the vista hardware tool thing and they all showed the correct ram of 4 gigs. I tried other known good ram as well and allways the same thing. WIll show correct ram in other programs but the computer only uses 256mb.
I think something is wrong with the mobo but if you have any ideas let me know. I appreciate your help.
Which bios?

Hey Ace it was that update a few days ago that had a bunch of stuff. Had about 5 or 6 different windows updates. Think it was on the 14OCT or something like that.
EDIT: Good idea though, I hate reisstalling but Im gonna try that tonight and see if that helps.
I like your avatar MadMax
Thanks Dak.
Hey ACE that fixed it. I had done a restore but that was a no go. Well went and reinstalled and so far its recognizing and using proper amount of ram. Guess Ill see what happens when it gets fully updated.
Anyone wanna try this with a E0 stepping?

@ fornowagain: Thanks for the link! Any change log on that?
No mate, thats all there was. It an Abit response to the 'E0 bios' #17 that didn't work. I can't test it yet, just love to know if it fixes the E8*** E0 problems.
fornowagain: I just downloaded and successfully flashed to bios 18. Hopfully I'll get my E8500 E0 tomorrow so I can check it out ...
yay first port btw :D
Dear brothers!
I have problem. I have 2xSeagate Barracuda 320BG HDDs and I'd like to set them in Raid0. I've set SATA mode on RAID in BIOS. When the system reboots I press ctrl+I but nothing going on! Only the message:
AHCI Option ROM BIOS Revision: 01.02.80 Date: 02-09-2007
Copyright (c) 2006-2008 Phoenix Technologies, LTD
AHCI BIOS installed!!
What's wrong with it?
E0 working with this latest bios 18 dated 10/20?
Any word yet?
Dredd: I would have tested it yesterday but they send me a C0 instead, even though I was told that they only had E0 in stock :( So I'm going to return it.
Bios 18 works fine with my Q6600 btw
AMAZING!...7000 post and over an half-million views!
My sata drives are plugged to 1 and 2 ports. I hit ctr+i combination many times but nothing happens. What's wrong? RMA?
Mines very much alive, I keep meaning to change it out. Just don't want to part with it, tried loads of boards for other jobs and yet to find one I like as much. Currently playing with GA-EP45-UD3R which is actually looking to be a nice board.
