yep, you're not the only one and we're not the only two i bet ;)
i run mine at stock volts with 50% fan speed....beyond that speed it starts to drone/whine too much

yea I know. I have my fan at 27% but it jumps anywhere from 50-77% depending on speeds. I try and keep my core at mid 70's at max which is still in the late yellow area on the CCC overdrive tab temp monitor.
So chinkgai, opinion. Would you say your card is still performing better overall at lower speeds but tighter timings via atitool even though 01, 03 and aquamark are down yet 05 and 06 are up or would you find the card faster when all scores are up even with 05 and 06 not as high as when using atitool you follow?
well that depends on the game you're playing and at what resolutions...
a heavy 3d game at a high res will likely benefit more/less along with the correlation of 3dmark05/06 being up or down
while a less intensive 3d game at a lower res would benefit more correlating along with 01/03/am being up or down
im sure u get the general idea. looks like u got a 20inch lcd so you're at 1600ish resolution...that means whatever (atitool or octool) gets u the higher score in 05/06...then you'll most likely benefit accordingly
as i stated earlier...its nearly identical for me and i dont have to run a high voltage in 2d mode (less heat, longer life?, less power consumption)
if atitool yields you greater results than octool (though it didnt for me) then more power to you ;)
in the end...its much like VX vs TCCD...all depends on which has higher top speed and the results from those top speeds
Ya I figured what you were saying, just wanted a second opinion without feeding you the information you know?
I currently am using ATItool with the services disabled and at 1.35v in 2D mode I have the card set to 677/751 completely stable and crash free. I can loop the 3Dmarks for hours this way without a lockup or crash. I also ran the artifact detector in Atitool for over an hour with nothing. Temps never got past the late 70's in temperature. The card is also artifact free at this. This nets me higher 05 and 06 scores than a max CCC overdrive OC of 689/792. I am still fine tuning the card and trying to get more out of it at the same voltage but I think I am at the end. Anything higher than I have the card set to now nets in a lot more voltage being needed. 1.4-1.425v+ which of course runs the card hotter and the fan louder which I am trying to avoid. I have setup a profile in Atitool to only come on when 3D is initiated kicking the card up to above speeds of 677/751 at 1.35v. When 3D apps are exited or upon windows boot itself the card is left at default profile in Atitool with the card being set at its standard 1.175v 500/600 in clocks. I don't want to have to run 1.35v through the card when it is just browsing the web etc as temps get close to 60c idle this way. I hope I don't damage the card either sooner or later from the shift in both clocks and volts off and on depending on whether I am using the card for 3D or not however even through the ATI drivers themselves clocks and volts shift up and down under load or not so I think this should be fine. Yes? Just want to be sure.
I have not touched the new VDDCI voltage adjustment in Atitool as I still have no clue what it does nor have I read about too many others with a valid explanation on its useage. Do you or anyone know and perhaps I missed it? If raising or lowering this will net me better results please do share as I am in the dark on this one.
Thanks again for everything.
For those of you using watercooling and a maze 4 GPU block, what are your idle and load temps? I'm using a BIX 2 radiator (dual 120mm 79 cfm fans), maze 4 gpu block and a tdx cpu block. My idle temp is around 40-41 C and load is 50 C with the card clocked at 730/832. Another person I know has a similar setup except his XTX idles at 30 C and peaks at 40 C using the same gpu block.
@cantank, unfortunately i have not messed with the voltages at all since my cooling is still "inadequate"
a good person to ask is viperjohn at the atitool beta forums. very very knowledgeable guy as im sure you know.
For any wondering, i just got a HIS x1900xt and the ram is 1.1
The original HSF is stupid! It makes the card overheat and like a hair dryer. :D
And Zalman VF-700cu is not capable of efficiently spreading heat for X1900XT(X), I tried, playing games over 7X~8X deg.C :stick: :slapass:
I just modify the waterblock to suit my X1900XTX and using ATItools 0.25BETA13 to overclock, now, I can keep it around 40deg.C when full load (rm temp. ~ 25deg., but I think mine is not a good clocker.
By setting a 3D profile with Vgpu voltage saved to the profile, it works! ;)

heres what im getting in 3d05 so far @ 670/774. I just got this card today so im very pleased. one thing that was odd is that my score went down almost 100points after I rebooted and increased settings to 675/800? any one know how this is possible? the only other thing I did different was slightly increase mem voltage a couple notches.

I got this problem too, the score went down without reboot ;)Quote:

I didn't increase the voltages for RAM :DQuote:

I have actually seen in this thread one of the guys who got around 13.5k had his mem volts around 1.8?? drecreased?Quote:

Are the HS mounting holes for the x1900 the same as 68/7800 geforces? I've got a water block that i made a custom mount for, for my 7800 and wondering if it will fit on my soon to be x1900xt.
Is that person me? Well, my XT idles at 30c and loads @ 38-40c (depends on roomtemperature)Quote:

Allright score for a singlecore @ ~3ghz eh?
Yes, same mounting holes as 6800/7800 nvidia cards.Quote:

got me ready to do some action on prommy but , i dont have mobo right now im gone wayt for it to come . hope see likes te cold , here are some pics op the card mounted en ready to use :D

I didn't check through the whole thread for that particular pic, but if it's a screenshot of the overclocker program then the reason it says 1.8v is because if you change from stock voltage in ATiTool and then open overclocker it will read 1.8. However, some people have been getting 1.9v and around there to work well. I myself am having trouble stabilizing my 840 on the ram atm, i'm trying to set the VDDQ .2v lower than VDDC and it's working better but not stable yet...Quote:
