RAID problems ? yes ;-(
Maybe nVidia drivers are bugged ?
Lack of compatibility with Adaptec RAID 3805 card which is real pain in my ars. Tried it into all available PCI/E slots but it won't invoke it's BIOS and hangs ;-((
Although i'm using another Adaptec RAID controller which works with 4x 750GB so it's not a bug of Vista :D
Ofc above adaptec-related problem is not related to your - maybe nVidia drivers are bugged, or 2TB problem is a problem of BIOS...
I have been reading this thead i know this is of topic but i have the p5n-t ws.I was wanting to upgrade to this board but from what i see there are alot of issue this board.Iam running a areca 1230 with 4 150 raptors in raid 0 with vista ultimate and xp dule boot with x6800 10x360 stable but cant run a quad very well.I was hopeing yall get this board going with a good bios as iam still interested in it and iam not going to get another striker.
0802 is available on asus' ftp
Anyone had any luck getting > 500fsb on this board?
Also a bit disappointed with the lack of NB timing control and load line calibration options in the BIOS. Why should the Striker get a better BIOS?
I stand corrected in this. It started crashing again. Hard freezes and BSOD. I guess I just had a lucky spell. Is there anything you suggest I check. I actually had a BSOD when trying to play the Witcher the other night. Is RMA my best option? Is the Striker 2 a more stable 780i? Could the video card driver be causing this? I have tried to go in safe mode, but it locks on that too (forgot which sys file specifically).
Is anyone else using this board and getting stablility?
I have Q6600 cpu (tried jacking the volts up. got to 1.34 or something. don't want to fry my chip)
I have 8G gskill (4x2G modules) DDR2 1000 PC2 8000. I currently have the memory timing on stock (auto). Would manually feeding in values in the memory timings fix this?
I have dual evga 8800GT and I believe I have the driver 169.09 (Never could get into the box long enough. safe mode too to remember/verify.)
I have vista 64 ultimate, previously I switched the motherboard from a 680i striker extreme that stopped posting. I went through and installed all the drivers and such from the asus cd. Could there be some reminants left and I just should do a whole install over again. BTW, I went through hell getting it reactivated as MS accussed me of installing it on more than one computer. Required a bunch of fiddling with their silly activation crap and finally calling then, holding to speak to someone with a heavy accent who finally gave me a new activation code.
Hi Javaman,
Not posted in a while as I moved about 2 weeks ago and not sorted at home yet, so PC not been used at all.
The drivers on the Asus cd are no good apparently, uninstall all of them and use Driver Cleaner pro in safe mode to remove all remnants and then install latest drivers from Nvidia.
What bios u using now?
1.34v is fine on Q6600, try it and see if it makes it more stable if the driver install makes no difference (there is a massive vdroop on this board)
Last time i used my PC was aboput 3 weeks ago and was still fine, note people are finding this board MORE stable in an overclocked state (makes no sense i know) so u could try this also.
My next intention is to remove the cooling pipe and replace it with solutuions from Thermalright. I have read elsewhere that people have solved their probs by placing a fan over the NB (it does get very very hot). Or just remove it and add decent thermal paste as the stock stuff is always crap.
I'm also tempted by the MSI PN7 Diamond (780i), looking good and people on dual cores have been getting over 500fsb, so if u do rma this looks like a good option (striker II has some probs as well)
Thanks, I'm haven't been using mine that frequently either (flu has me down). I got an rma request in, got 10 days. Striker is only thing zipzoomfly has in right now. I tried jacking up the memory voltage to 2.1 and that seems stable when I ran the Witcher. I am going to have to try all the tests I see folks using around here. I am starting to have my doubts about this board.
What does Asus use for "auto"? Do they actually have a database of the various parts and their voltage/timing requirements in the bios? I've always expected "stability" when you go with default settings, but then again prior to this bout, my last build was an athlon 64. I went through a laptop phase for a few years in the interim. Maybe I am out of touch with my expectations.
Yeah athlon 64 on MSI neo2 platinum was my last PC :) wicked setup and very good overclocks. I've had to do soooooooooo much reading for this setup.
Well the bios on this board doesnt allow u to see RAM, NB, SB volts in bios, only the CPU. This sucks pretty bad. I dont understand why they cant add it into the bios as the chipset has the fuctionality.....they just making that a Striker II only function probably.
Yeah I wish it would show those voltages too...
I think the min. manual option is usually what it should set, default SB is 1.55v default NB is 1.20v etc. but for some this is definitely not the case...
For example highest POST I've managed to get with my E8200 is 502fsb, but it will ONLY do this with FSB Term. set on Auto...1.2v/1.25v/1.30v/1.35v/1.40v don't work?! Also it's less stable with vNB > 1.52v but I assume that's just heat (using 3x 80mm fans on the chipset) and you need water to go higher.
Can someone please measure the distance between the mountingholes of the northbridge and southbridge?
Thanks in advance!
Will mostly be a 4:5 ratio so 1500 = 375FSB then 4/5 = 468 * 2 = +/-940 ram speed
Try 1333FSB Stick it and 800 on ya ram... with ya Q6600 that will give 3ghz and 800mhz on the ram
Hi Guys,
Which aftermarket coolers are there for 780i ? , course I have 680i complete set but the new add-on chip (NF200) is not cooled . .
I know I saw some pics of beta 780i MIPS NB blocks ( very expensive but high quality German product ) but I dunno anymore of they were for the EVGA/XFX or for the Asus line... Will look for it...
Found some on a german watercooling site : EVGA boards are available soon... working on Striker II (SB pictured in link) no idea yet about Nb...
http://www.aquatuning.de/product_inf...e-Freezer.html
Now they need some for the P5N-T to make you guys happy...
EKwaterblocks is also working on it... all a matter of time...
so what max FSB are we looking at?
Got mine few days back, out of the box works great! Curently priming 442fsb on my friends e6750.
Hello guys I work with a signature p5nt deluxe 780th and intel cpu q6600 my problem is that I can not climb over over 1600mhz bus frequency and this can not be rock solid. Use the bios 0903 that I found among the most stable in spite of this, but if I go beyond the 16xx mhz system continues to reboot without entering ion windows with vcore voltage of 1.6 xvore.
Use these parameters:
Vocre v 1.45 and beyond
DDR 2.10 / 2.50 v
VTT v 1.40
NB v 1.50
SB v 1.61
Some of you managed to take over the 3.6 ghz this motherboard and cpu this together? Sorry for my bad english, thank you very much.
Because my water cooling is curently apart, i dont know about quad. But e6750 went 3800mhz rock solid with settings:
CPU VTT 1.45v
NB 1.5v
SB 1.63v
I hope i can put water back together by the end of the week, so i can try my q6600 on this mobo. Post you back later...
Finaly my water loop is up and running, but still i have unknown issues with my system. Games freezes randomly for unknown reason, movies randomly gets anomalies (like artefacts) and when i close the viewing program (bsplayer or wmp) the system hangs. Anybody has a clue what's going on? Tried diferent PSU's, have new CPU, GPU has ben changed, nothing helps... Today i have tried my luck with new bios, nothing else comes to my mind, except bad drivers, or maybe my mobo or ram is causing problems?
BTW everything is at stock
I am back with the good news. Everything is working fine, after reinstaling vista. I guess that bad drivers caused the problems.
Overclocking went easy and i already reached the score that i wanted to reach. I've get q6600 Batch L724B141 and curently runs 3.6Ghz @ 1.34v, increased a little VTT voltage, all other mobo voltages are set auto. In my oppinion it will run a bit more, hoping for 3.7 or maybe even 3.8ghz. When i reach final OC i will post some screens.
zolkorn , nice clocks .
in reall ne to this nvida chipset thing and want to ge my wolfy back to 4.0 as it was on p965!
whats your voltage setting for the chipset etc as ive never seen all the extra ones, also anyone know what the normla volts are for nb sb etc ?
at the mo i start getting errors above about 375-380 adn inow the chip cna do alot more on the vcore its getting .
last quesiton for you all why the heck does the nb get so hot its set ai alarms on even witha fan on it !"
ok got it over the hump so to speak .... bios 1001 and just wacked the fsb up.....romsip updated (is this the strap ?) now as far as i can see im 3.8ghz stable 4.0 bsod and i know the chip can do that speed from my old board . anyone suggest some settings as ive no idea what default volts are for the nb /sb !
