big fake ...
This is just another sign of the times my friends.
Business ethics and morals has really gone down the toilet the last 5 years or so, marketing now is so focused on creating a stir about the product...doesnt matter true or false.
Thrustworthiness and credebility has become more a day to day based thing, they know we forget the bads pretty quick and are very proned to jump on anything new that is supposed to be the new "thing" to get.
An Intel rep that lies, a memory "reviewer" that shows fantastic results and so on...different dung from the same pile if you ask me.
Cherrypickin', fantastic mods, TV Shop...saaaame shajt! :D
Here, Here, CLINT!:D
well that sucks. Also there was a Chinese vendor who sold remarked celerons that appeared as p4's with 1/4 the cache.
IMHO, the problem is that most companies don't really think twice about who represents them. Most of the reps don't really have a clue. They are too far away from the engineers and don't talk to them as often and as long as they should. So, in most cases they know parts of the truth, but not the real facts as a whole. And then that is leading to statements that are indeed, at least partly, untrue. I'm sure this "MFG JMP" ("Manufacturing Jumper"?) does have a interesting function, but it just looks like it's not unlocking the multiplier.
What I wanted to say is: There pretty sure is a part of the truth in The Nemesis's post. You just need to find out which part it is. ;)
First thing first... I was also at Quakecon, and the rep did indeed state that there was a very easy mod to fully unlock core 2 duo multies (but only at the second presentation, which was in all other ways identical to the first)...as for the "intel will replace fried OCed procs" claim, he said that, then clarified that intel would have no way of knowing you had OCed the proc in the first place if you hadn't told them, so you could (ab)use the warranty to get a knew proc. As for loosing money, i don't think very many people are savvy enough to do this mod as a money-saving tactic-so all it would really do would be to secure intel's foothold in the enthusiast sector. All the nay-sayers who say that this is a big lie...GO TO HELL, I tell U! :slapass: maybe the intel rep was mistaken, but don't ever doubt what he said. Good luck to those who try this mod-If it works, confirm it, and i'll know which core 2 duo board i'm getting.
So works this mod or not ? :stick:
Or is it a hoax or something ?
No one on this forum has been able to make this mod work. Whether it's a hoax or not, we only know what the rep told the two guys in this thread that were there.
Is it true that there are options unavailable to change on the intel 975X board unless you using the x6800 extreme? (not multiplier up or down but FSB & voltage options) Perhaps this mod enables those options on the other chips except multiplier up. Still haven't gotten my board to see for myself, but I will update when I do.
I saw a video at youtube.com five minutes ago named "Unlocking Conroe 2" where the Intel guy explained that the points to short cut were right behind the BIOS reset/default jumper. Could anyone post a high resolution pic of the BIOS jumper area of the Bad Axe board please?
Here's the vid:

Thats probably the same dude... or maybe its just a huge fake on intels part! If this has happend in 2 different locations, then yea, somethin is up. It either works, or intel will say thats not what we told them! They just didnt read correctly. 2 people making the same "mistake"... interesting I must say.
WOw! seems pretty legit to me after watching the video (not that I did not believe the OP). I wish we could figure this one out!
Yes thats correct. It will unlock a few hidden options but we already knew this so. Your never gonna see an unlocked conroe, plain an simple.Quote:

Or did we know about the things it would unlock, and that point was located behind the BIOS jumper?
Unless it`s XE ;)Quote:

well yea. Besides the XE models:)Quote:

The video describes the "OC Debug" jumper. This unlocks Vcore and Vdroop settings. A valuable mod but only the X6800 will allow changing multipliers in BIOS. This mod has pictures elsewhere on this site, I believe, if anyone is interested. Having Vcore available if a "Requirement" for overclocking. Period! Good luck. :)
I think we should all thank The Nemesis. He made it quite clear about where he got the information and what it was. Unfortunately, it turns out this was coming from an Intel rep who didn't know what he was talking about. That reflects on Intel, not on anyone who reported what he said.
If it had been true it would have been very big news indeed, and reporting it to us merely shows a regard for this forum that we should respect.
Thank you for your efforts The Nemesis.
Ok I just watched the youtube video, the Intel guy said "it will unlock all Intel CPU's"
He didn't say unlock multi's he didn't say exactly what it would unlock other than all Intel CPU'S. A play on words on the Intel guys part. That statement could be taken a lot of different ways :)
Who ever found the youtube video :toast:

He said it pretty clearly. Stupid liars.
The chips with EIST can and have in the past adj multi's "downwards" so that is not 100% locked. Non XE unlocked upwards is a nice dream, but a dream it is :).
I read the thread because I was hoping their was a way to get downwards multi adj's via BIOS on the BadAxe, rather than fiddling with CPUID or ITK.
Looks to me the thread has some purpose seeing all those that didn't know about the BadAxe having a Debug jumper mod for unlocking "some" OC features for non XE/ES CPU. :toast:
Blue, will crystalcpuid allow to adjust multi downwards without EIST...AND...is this EIST on the cpu or northbridge?
