I tried PCMark05 today for the first time. Grabbed two easy cups, but I have to learn to tweak PCMark (and get a better storage setup, of course).

Congrats for taking the top spot of the 965 BE category, you scored almost 10k more than I did! :D
Well, no need to congratulate, it was not exactly a patiently-pushed-to-the-max score, more like plug and point benching. Still, points are always nice :)
Heh, only 10k behind us :D
You need SSDs *hint hint*
Two OCZ Vertexes on Adaptec SAS RAID controller will do? Or do I have to wait for Intel to send us some X25-Ms? :D
Almost 10 points isn't that bad, every bit counts! Plus you get a nice golden cup for your result! :D
Did someone see Naekuh's posts in the Xtreme Overclocking section? He says he has a Gulftown and he is registered at hwbot for our team... Someone should point him to this thread! When i9 is launched we should at least have some results ready ( yes, I'm looking at you jcool! ;) )
Actually the onboard intel controller will be perfectly fine for 2 drives (probably better than any of the mentioned third-party controllers).
PM me for Tips on how to set up 2 SSDs on the ICH10R and how to boost the PCmark score ;)
@Dan: Ok ok... I'll post up a few benchies just for the heck of it ;)
Missing the 10x dram divider on my current bios though, unfortunately, which makes wprime kind of a no go.
#4 :wasntme:
Yeah I got it now.... must have not been logged in or something...
We're back to 7200 points again guys lets not lose it.
Running out of cheap stuff to grab points with :/

I`ve still got a lot of hardware to play with yet;). Wasted a lot of time trying to vmod two pairs of 8600GT`s. DDR2 pair went well(Gpu @ 940Mhz on air) but the mem on those is very poor. DDR3 pair is refusing to cooperate. Getting the volts i need but its not clocking any higher than stock settings:mad: very frustrating. Think i might leave them for now and concentrate on something new.
i'm still studying what win7 flavor is best....i don't like a bloated os.
chew* congrats man you're 4th on the team:up:
running all the benches on xp and not seeing any real boost
Yep they do.
They also allow me to recieve an uber picked chip from AMD that no retail can ever ever match and use it against all members......just becasue they allow stuff doesn't mean you have to agree with it ;)
It's ultimately up to the user to decide what to do, me personally the words uber picked that no one can compete against and competition don't belong in same sentence....there is no competition at that point.
Hehe :D
I always thought WPrime wasn't RAM-dependent, only raw core frequency counts, at least that's what it is like on Core 2 and Phenom 2.
Grats for taking no.4 in the team!
The 785 chipset might be worth looking into, some easy points to get looking at the current rankings.
Which tests do you run?
Most 2D tests should see a gain over Vista/7.
Okay, 3D you should see gains in 01 and AM3, did you test the latter already?
right i just thought you thought it was cheating...it is, but obiviously allowed cheating.
Question? when i look at my benchmark details and settings in the ORB i can see what all processes are running, is there a way i can see the pros processes that are running to see if there running other bullpoop like renaming the exe and other not-so-allowed-tweaks? if not i think that is crap
Technically I do not think so.
Just some Fyi futuremark is far from foolproof as well......I can submit results with DX sploofed and the results show up as valid even though I ran a bench with no DX at all.....Don't ask how its done becasue that is surely a cheat.....I needed one result to be able to compare it to other results that might be questionable. I know what to look for now ;)
I just looked through your profile, definitely make some single card runs when you are on XP anyway, they should give you some points.
I need to confess to you my fellow XS-bros, my RAM addiction broke through once again cause my one and only DDR3 kit was feeling lonely, now I have two more kits...
Brian, remember when I told you I could get D9JNL easily, those were Cellshock DDR3-1600 CL7-7-7-21. Looking back, they were boring, now I have one Cellshock DDR3-1800 CL8-7-6-20 kit ( D9GTR ) and one DDR3-1866 CL8-8-8-24 kit ( D9JNL ). The GTR kit might come in handy some day for AMD-benching, the other kit is the one with the blue heatspreader, I just bought it because I think they are beautiful... Is this a sign of addiction? :D
hypers are still best imo for x58 :D
Ehh I got 3 sets of em, I think I'm all set on those ic's ;)
http://chew.ln2cooling.com/qdig-file...med_elpida.jpg
awesome!!! 1.7xv and you're all set :D 7-7-7 goodness :D
Yes, Cellshock was a German firm, so most parts were sold in Germany, it's a shame they went bankrupt, but I guess there are not many people willing to spent a lot of money on memory. There is a seller on ebay who is located where MSC's headquarter is/was, he is selling off old stock it seems. Now he has a lot of those JNL-sticks up for sale again.
I can't test on i7, sorry, in my opinion Hondacity is right, Hypers are the way to go there. For AMD a good GTR set might be worth testing against Hypers.
From what I have seen so far, Vince, you and me are the only ones who tested Hypers on AMD anyway. I will test my GTR kit when I'm at home again in two weeks.
If you want I can keep my eyes open for another GTR kit. :)
Just benching an i5 750 (air) on a GB µATX with 2x 4870X2, trying to get 30k in 06 - I am at 29730 grrr!!!
Here's a pic of the setup lol
Jcool, I assume you are on vista.....Pull the cards, install another card.....let windows play the your hardware has changed please reactivate game...... click activate later, reinstall your x2's and rebench unactivated ;)
Vista isn't activated... ;)
Settled for that now, am running 03. But it won't recognize the CPU.. which means I can't submit the Score. Help :(
Just take a screenshot with CPU-Z and GPU-Z or are you aiming for Global Top 20? ;)
Yeah, I guess I could do that.. what a hassle though :/
Top20 global, not with a 750.. with the w3520 on cold, probably.
There's gotta be a way?!
That's what I do all the time.
I'm afraid you have to wait for Futuremark to release a system info hotfix. Maybe there is a way though, but I've never really bothered with the ORB.
Well some :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana: once reported one of my Wprime entries because it wasn't verified or whatever (and in the Top20) so I usually make sure I got it verified, even if it may not be in the top20.
Yeah, for Top 20 it's a must, but why bother if it's not needed.
Are you still running 03 and did you read my PM? What did you score?
Well I managed to kill the OS so I am reinstalling now.. in Raid mode anyway, want to do some PCMark runs on this setup. I scored 133k 03 with the CPU at 4,4Ghz.. not too bad I guess, not great either.
Have fun reinstalling! ;) I'll go to bed now! Goodnight!
Edit: One question: Which memory speed did you achieve? What kit do you use? Looks like Ripjaws...
Yeah, they are Ripjaw 2000's (Elpida BBSE). Mem is running synced to BCLK, at ~2100Mhz.. unfortunately the CPU has a BCLK wall at ~214, rams could prolly do more.
Hm, that didn't turn out quite as well as I had hoped. Somehow I got weird scores on PCmark (low HDD general usage despite using a very similar SSD configuration to Bill's run) and I think I'd need a fastrer CPU to compete in the Dual 4870X2 category.
Still, I got like 40 points out of this setup... good night.
weird, is it on your classy?
Dude, check my last 5 Posts or so :D
It's on the P55 platform.
Getting the cascade from ruffus to help my HWBot a little... :D
Awsome, I should have a few more point's incoming tommorow......then I need to retackle certain results and fight fire with fire with a comedian running in single channel :shakes:
Whoa, congrats
I don't know what's the power cost in the States, but cascades are very convenient. Just fire the thing up and never worry about temps... That's what I like in phase change cooling and dry ice.
I expected you to do this, and I can entirely understand your decision. I saw some of your scores were not benched at full force or even under SS.
I'm afraid they won't seperate the classes, they didn't do this when E0 was introduced after C0 Core 2s, so the E8400 and E8500 classes were easily conquered by the new revision. The same should happen with 965 today.
Pardon my ignorance, I noticed his scores yesterday, does he gain anything from running single channel?
Yep it seems pifast and wprime have anomalies....running in single channel allows for him to crank NB without sacrificing cpu speed it seems + the benches don't really benifit from ram it appears which i find is odd with pifast. The other thing I found odd is almost all his results are in multiples of 25mhz, seems kinda generic so to speak.
No biggie i will now bench wprime and pifast in single channel, dual channel of course wins the rest.
All I can say is  Have fun!
I'm losing points left and right now, it's so bad I can't rebench certain stuff, or even bench some new hardware.... :(
Yeah, I was really puzzled when I saw it. PiFast might benefit from higher NB clocks more than from actual RAM frequency, and WPrime of course is only about pure CPU clock. It might help your score to run WPrime in Vista though! ;)
His effiency in SPI isn't that bad either considering he is using Vista.
You're right about the 25mhz steps, I didn't notice it before, but now I see it. Look at his profile, all his score are made in those steps.
Bench for the cup with your Q9650s guys! Stage 1 is now open! :D
http://hwbot.org/competition/country...?tab=stage%201
Linuxfan, good going in the nations cup!
Bill and Brian, you made some great scores in 03 and 06!
166k on water is crazy! :)
C3 stepping seems to be a worthy upgrade for me, but I will pass the 965 BE. I already have one for hwbot, the 550 C3 is interesting, or maybe a 975 BE...
Thank you Jor for telling me to join i posted my 9,453s on at 4905 for my country Uruguay and team XS ;)
Cheers all
Sergio
The U.S. average time got bumped up since thebluemaenie1 got his 3rd place Q9650 in there... :D
Now we want to see some NEW benchmark results with the Q9650!
I see you put up your 3rd place 2x 4870X2 killer 3dm06 run Chew*! Great work!
team usa will be good :D
i wonder how team greece will do...they got animals :D
Heh that was Msimax and myself ( combined effort ), he deserves credit to, I think he has a PI 1m submission of his own to put up.
Hopefully I can improve some results in the next few weeks :)
On a side note we hit the 7300 mark today. Lets push that further guys.
wooo awesome job you guys...7314pts :D
linuxfan also overtook me :D ....this is good :D
i'm still finishing my winter water cooler ... hopefully soon..
i'll mount this on my porch...outside temps are at 1c right now.. :D..i'll use 100% radiator fluid for zero slush :D
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c5...5/NewImage.jpg
Testing a new i7-975 right now, passes 3dm06 at 4915 MHz under single stage :D a shame it coldbugs at -60° C :( with my luck even a Phenom 965 C3 will probably be coldbugged.
That's why I need to grow some benching discipline - I'm missing too many points just because I didn't have proper OS or certain benchmark installed at the time...
Too bad I can't submit those huh :p: :ROTF:
http://database.he-computer.de/Bilde...rime_Tyan2.jpg
xoqolatl,
I sort of had the problem to, here's what I did to break it.
I have 2 installs of XP ripped, 1 vista and 1 win 7.
Initial testing I do on phase before I break out the more volatile stuff.
Once I have ballpark cold I use 1 xp as a sacrificial lamb, find the max bench of all benches, jot them down then can the OS that most likely got corrupted finding maxxes and start benching the fresh installs per OS biased bench. :)
Benches are all installed on a seperate drive save a few things that need to be on OS drive, such as bits and peices of vantage and 06 and cpu-z 1.52X, this allows you just to drag shortcuts over to all OS's.
Hope this helps.
We should chat somewhere more privately on AMD benches :)
This sounds good! What mainboard are you on?
Haha, finally! Thanks mate, you gave me something to smile about for the whole night!
Top 5 Global WPrime is great! Those results will give some serious points once Gulftown is released!
Thanks chew
Problem is, I usually don't have enough time to switch OSes during benching. I rarely have a whole day for benching, more like 2-3 hours a time, and in that time I usually fight with clocks not with software. I'm trying to do serious benches when I have time to prepare everything. All results I am really proud of have been made after long hours of sitting in front of a monitor, listening to rotary compressor... nothing good ever came from short sessions of benching in a hurry. (yes, call me captain Obvious :D )
As for AMD benching, there are a 965 C3 and a 790FXT-UD5P here that are begging to be frozen :D but it'll be at least a week until I can arrange "something volatile" as you call it.
EDIT: I'm on Classified 760, with 1,575 volts real
So most likely no chance to go higher with another mainboard... :(
4.9 GHz on an i7 is not that bad anyway, just do as many benchmarks as you can. With your 5870s you could gain some nice points in 3D. ( 05 + 06 ) Good luck!
Just don't forget there's a single card category as well! ;)
Update: broke 30k in 3dm06 with a single 5870 :)
This is just testing the CPU on SS, real benches with dice, Crossfire and hopefully a better CPU are incoming.
EDIT: oh an watch out Linuxfan, I'm aiming to be the 1# of all people using my sig template :ROTF:
I saw your new scores in your profile, a single 5870 is almost as fast as 2 4890s, with an i7 at almost equal clocks ( ~4.9GHz ). Those GPUs are so strong!
Good luck for your PCMark 05 runs!
As long as the US is in front in this round, it's all good. I'm afraid Germany will not score very well this time. :( I hope that will change next round, I will do my share in the AMD stage ( depending on which benchmark has to be run. ).
You should be able to get your golden cup back later on, at least as long as no one gets his Q9650 under LN2.
Something I really like about this competition are the short stages, the pros can't select dozens of processors and test them under LN2, this leaves a fair chance to normal guys on air that have excellent processor already and have done their homework with their gear.
Linuxfan, I told ya this would happen:
http://www.hwbot.org/signature/u13804.png
Now get benching before I fly out of your range :D :ROTF:
Today was a good day!
http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/106...ovember7th.jpg
xoqolatl still going strong with his i7 975 and his HD 5850, chew* is still running his Athlon II X4 low-budget setup, Xtreme_Solid is pushing a Core 2 E2200 and a Core 2 E7200 and Zucker2k managed to get the silver cup in the Q9550 SPI 32M category.
Last but not least the fourth XS team member has posted his results for the HWBot country cup. This time it's PcCI2iminal who is benching for Brazil. The other three members are thebluemeanie1 and Jor3lBR, both are benching for the US, and andressergio who is competing for Uruguay. Jor3lBR is also currently the no.2 in the Q9650 SPI 1M category.
That was just the pre-testing :)
Stay tuned for more points after database refresh :D
EDIT: My fresh results just got ranked:
http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/643/hwbot7112009.png
Mostly single GPU benching with HD5850 and HD5870.
I am especially proud of PCMark05 and both Aquamark results, as I have never benched those before. PCMark05 was done on two Intel X25-M 160 GB gen2 drives.
I had a serious problem with Aquamark at first - scores were in range of 260-270 k. When I figured what to do to get proper scores I literally jumped from joy :D
Those were not ranked when I took the screenshot. This is insane! Those are some fine scores!
AM3 is my favourite 3D benchmark, and the only 3D benchmark I like too... :D
Please shoot me a PM what you changed! direcpll?
You pushed the team's score to 7375.4!
http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/596...ovember7th.jpg
Does someone have results worth ~40 points as backup? This is the perfect time to post!
