Have you tried another multiplier like 19x or 21x Erball ?
Maybe your CPU doesn't like 20x multiplier at all or maybe your CPU doesn't like overclock at all.
Try to set memory speed manually and don't trust the auto setting :)

That is true. I just posted what is in the exe. Notice the date of Installation Utility 9.1.0.1014 is later than 9.1.1.1004. Don't ask me why. But, that is why I extract them and look at the ver. info.
Version: 9.1.0.1014 * Date: February 05 2009
Version: 9.1.1.1004 * Date: October 16 2008
I would use Version: 9.1.0.1014 * Target Chipset#: 5520/5500/X58 * Date: February 05 2009 with the -OVERALL flag. This way you are sure everything is upated. But, I see no changes from 9.1.0.1013
===============
Features Added in Alpha 9.1.0.1014
1 Added support for B43 sku device IDs 2E90 and 2E91
2 Signature file resigned by Microsoft because of additions of 2E90 and 2E91 for 2008s4el.inf
Features Added in Alpha 9.1.0.1013
1 Updated installer label to 1.1.19 from 1.1.18. New label enables Windows 7 Server to install.
2 Added CHAP counter device IDs to the ICH core INFs, therefore, CHAP counters will be pre-installed to the OS.
The auto settings will really apply plenty of juice which you can verify with TurboV so unless you have a really really really bad chip it should work.
Do you have load line calibration enabled in the bios, if not enable it.
You might want to try disabling HT and see what kind of luck you have with your OC without it.
Also try running your memory on a different ratio, I use the 2:8 on both my rigs which is one faster than the slowest setting if I'm not mistaken.
This is what is bothering me, I have built an identical system like this for a friend, and his overclocked to 4.2ghz on auto settings. Just manually changing the cpu v and thats it.
I was unaware that 920's had an issue with 20x multiplier, i will test this and see if i can make any headway.
I do have load line calibration enabled, and i won't turn off ht as this is a media encoding rig, and ht really does improve my encoding times.
Thanks for the help guys.
I wonder if anyone put a 4cm fan over the NB with the 2 standoffs provided with the MB ?
I tried with my leftover (2cm height) Sunon fan but it is to tall so if I am going to do it, I need a 1cm height fan.
I just wondering if it is worth the effort.
Anyone successfully flashed a P6T vanilla to a deluxe v1?
Did not P6T got a new BIOs update in the past few days? In that new BIOs should have Turbo unlock if did not had it before...
We, P6T Dlx V2 users still don't have a new bios taht unlock x21 multiplier... :(
Hey guys, I keep gettinga bunch of stuff on bootup (see below). It all seems unnecessary and I read a post about someone having them but he disabled them by selecting O.C. profile 1, but I tried it and it didn't work. Can anyone help?
When I boot up, the first screen I see the Asus P6T Deluxe logo in blue with the option to open bios setup or see post bios messages (pretty normal). After that disappears, I get a bunch of stuff that look like this:
http://img13.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc01052b.jpg
http://img10.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc01070h.jpg
Any way around it? It's really slowing down my booting time. And I don't like that. Not one bit at all. >:(
Oh and after that, the P6T screen flashes one last time, then I see my bios with some text below it saying CPU FAN ERROR 1 and right below that, "Press F1 to resume.". After I press F1, it goes into OS. Any explanation for zis?
"Any way around it?"
There sure is, it's in the manual.
If you are interested, there is a new Yukon driver 10.69.2.3
http://www.marvell.com/drivers/search.do
The "CPU FAN ERROR 1" you mention is a warning/message to say that you do not have anything connected to the cpu fan header. I take it you are watercooling the CPU?
To fix this, (so you wont see meassage/warning again), - in BIOS go to POWER - HARDWARE MONITOR - CPU FAN SPEED - change setting to "IGNORE"
Disabling stuff you dont' need should speed up boot times too, good luck.
Alright, thanks for the help guys. I couldn't find much about this in the manual, which is why I resorted to the forums. I'm not on watercooling, but I'm on a TRUE with a 120mm fan which doesn't use the 4-pin connector for a CPU fan.
I'm gonna try disabling some stuff. Thanks again. :)
Edit: Alright, disabling a whole bunch of crap made the messages go away, so thanks once again!
Has anyone cracked 222 bclk on any of the P6T series? Just curious. Thanks.
I can boot windows 227, but prime stable is 222 max. On Asus Deluxe V2, bios 302, Xeon W3520.
I am currently able with my vanilla P6T to enable the 21x multiplier on the i920.
My understanding is that this is also possible on the P6T Deluxe. I have a version 1 coming in tomorrow and was looking for confirmation.
I assume this became enabled through one of the bios releases.
Does anyone know which bios revision allowed the multi to be moved up to 21x?
thanks
Lol yeah i know.... i have my mobo crossflashed... while ago now... but i'd like to have V2 original bios on it...
Also, any suggestions on what my CPU PLL voltage should be? I was thinking around 1.9v?
Edit: Oh, I'm running on an i7 920, btw.
You shouldn't really need to even change it from 1.8, at least I never gained anything at all from changing it up to 200 bclock. If I'm not mistaken the max spec'd pll voltage for i7's is under 1.9 volts.
Really the main three voltages you even need to tinker with are vcore, qpi & vdimm, the rest can basically be default.
New bios for Asus P6T Deluxe:
P6T-ASUS-DELUXE-1504
New bios for Asus P6T Deluxe V2:
P6T-ASUS-DELUXE-V2-0406
I wonder why not yet on the website yet.
I will wait 1 more day.
I don't know what clock your running because I'm too lazy too look back at the previouw pages. Considering your RAM speed I assume you use around 200 bclk on a 920. Then you shouldn't need that high of an CPU PLL voltage. According to Intel specs the max. voltages are:
- vCore = 1.55v
- vDRAM = 1.65v
- QPI = 1.35v
- CPU PLL = 1.88v
I run a bclk of 215 with CPU PLL at 1.88v and I didn't bother yet to set it any lower which probably is possible. Futhermore, you can see that this board supports RAM clocks above 1600Mhz. It's effective to OC your RAM because it provides you with some more bandwidth. If prefer to have an extra 100Mhz RAM speed rather than an extra 50 - 100Mhz CPU speed when CPU speed is already as high as 4Ghz e.g.
does speedfan work on this motherboard? would be nice to throttle fan's rpm speed if possible...
I just read on another forum that the 0406 unlocks the 21x multi with the i920. I'm going to flash and try it
BTW, the brave souls of you with P6T Deluxe (V1) who have updated their BIOS to version 1403.
I am having a bizarre issue at POST time.
I have DINOVO Edge keyboard (bluetooth) and since BIOS 1403, it won't detect the keyboard during POST :(
I have gone through all the previous BIOS versions, and I never had it.
It will only be recognized when I boot up to Windows.
I tried a wired logitech USB keyboard and it works just fine
Anyone else experienced this Bug ?
I am contemplating whether to send ASUS support an email describing the problem
It sounds like one of the issues fixed with the latest bios posted on Asus's support forums, not listed in the regular download area yet.
EDIT: After rereading the post maybe its not an issue fixed.

Thanks for the info highoctane !
The changelog on V2 0406 BIOS is same with V1 1504 BIOS. So I assume ther are same BIOS.
where is the 0406 V2 changelog posted?
Yes that is the changelog for th V1 board update.
The 0406 allows the 21x multi to be used with the i920 and yet its not listed
I flashed my V2 board to 0406 just now, confirmed 21x is unlocked, PLUS you get the option to enable/disable speedstep. Other than that I have not notice anything different than the 302. Loading in LinX still throttle back down to 20.5~20x when the temperature approaching 80'C. Guess i'll crossflash to 1504 and see what's up.
I flashed my v2 (currently with V1 403 bios) with v1 1504 bios. Now the bios and windows 7 64 bit report I only have 2024M RAM, which is not true, I have 3x2024M ram. But cpu-z reports the correct amount, weird.
i'm also on 1504 now with V2 board, this bios appear to be same as the 1403, CPUZ validation still report one of my memory stick in slot 5 as 127MB instead of 2048MB, windows also did not display the full clock speed correctly as if the 21X multiplier is on turbo mode. LinX still throttle from 21x down to 20.5~20x, though it did make navigating through BIOS menu much quicker and smoother than 1403.
just an fyi - flushed from 1403 to the 1504 on my deluxe V1. It works, no issues so far. do not notice any changes though.
Hi folks,
I just returned to the V2 BIOS on my board, and tested 0406. The new option to use speedstep without having to set the multiplier to AUTO is really neat.
Many of us cannot run 20x200 stable and just don't want to, for example due to excessive extra voltage and heat just to get 4 GHz, with little performance gain.
Now we've got the option to use speedstep and NOT have the multiplier skyrocketing above 19 and thus into unstable clockspeeds.
My multiplier is now usually around 12x200, but would sometimes even go down to 3x or 4x. And it is still limited to rockstable 19x200.
^.^
Frankly, for me there is no point anymore in using a V1 BIOS on my V2
Flashed to 0406 on a V2 board and I've forced it in and out of S3 several times without failure.
Time will tell on this 1. I'll post back if it fails to resume properly.
0406 working perfect!
Same Oc as when i had V1 BIOs on my V2 Mobo... And have yet to test if S3 work for me XD
But bios came a little late... i already ordered an EVGA X58 Classified yesterday... >.<
How to get rid of the unknown device "on Intel(R) ICH10R LPC Interface Controller - 3A16" ?
I believe I need to install the latest asus acpi driver but I can't find it for the p6t deluxe v2.
the multiplier dropping issue only affected by LinX, I haven't come across any application or game that could put such tremendous stress on the cpu that forces it to drop (not even when I was converting 35GB of RAW data the other day), cpu load was 100% on all 8 threads but mutliplier remain at 21x. So I'd say ignore it for now till Asus put their act together to fix it so we can run LinX more comfortably :D
Is the following an isolated case?
My V2 P6T-D decided not to recognize the 3x2gb RAM anymore, it instead told I have 2gb RAM. I am sure that all 3 sticks are good.
Un-plug the power supply, take out the battery and one sick of memory. Replace and see if your bios is fully re-set.Quote:

Can someone post a link to the ACPI driver for the V1? I can't seem to find it, and I too have the unknown device in device manager.
Also, I was looking at the drivers on Asus' website, and it seems that there are Marvell SATA drivers. I have never installed any Marvell SATA drivers, because I thought that the SATA ports were from the ICH10R... no? It seems to work fine without them, are they really needed?

Go to windows update it will automatically install it for you.
To get rid of the "unknown device" in device manager put the Asus motherboard DVD in the drive. When autoplay pops up click run the cd. The Asus driver gui will appear and the unknown device disappears in the device manager. No need to install any driver manually it will disappear once the Asus screen appears. (Have the device manager open at the same time).
I thought everyone knew that, it works on any Asus board, ive been doing it that way for a few years on X58/X38/P35 and even my AMD780 board. Works on Gigabyte too at least an x38 board i had.
With the Marvell thing the motherboard has ports for marvell and Intel. On the P6T standard the marvell ports are a different color. (2 Marvell 6 Intel)
Just plug in to the intel ports and disable marvell in the bios that way you dont have the marvel screen during bootup. No need for Marvel drivers.
Anyone running a 920 with 218bclk x 21 multi or higher. I seem to be stuck here and would appreciate some help.
What are the max bclks reported on these boards?
I don't want the drivers from the Asus CD because they are out of date. And the ones on their website are usually out of date as well. Typically, motherboard "specific" drivers are really not specific at all, and are just out dated repackaged drivers from the manufacturer of the component in question.
I would like to know who actually makes the "unknown device" component and where the latest driver can always be obtained.
Also, regarding the Intel vs Marvell SATA ports on the P6T Deluxe... would I be correct to assume that the two vertical ports are on the Marvell controller and the horizontal ones are on the Intel controller (other than the Marvell SAS ports)?
is there the possibility to use 22x to all the cores on this board? how should I set the bios? thank's for the answers :)
They have one dated 2006. But, I don't think there is any difference. You would think ASUS would atleat update the driver date. Even if it was just for looks. I received it from MS Updates. But, if you search "Utilities" on the ASUS site, one comes up dated after 04.
Did you try un-installing the error devices an then scan for new hardware. That should work.
http://chuckbam.com/Post2/atkCapture.PNG
Ah, so then Marvell has one unified driver for the SAS and SATA ports? Where can I get the latest version of it? Also, is there a way to simply disable the Marvell SAS/SATA ports in the BIOS, but leave the Marvell PATA port enabled (for optical drive)? Are there any special drivers for the Marvell PATA controller?
Ok I did some searching and it appears that ATK stands for AsusTek and the ATK0110 is a chip that allows the Asus Ai Booster program to work in Windows and overclock the system. So since it is an Asus device, the latest driver should in fact come from Asus. What is the latest version they have and where can we get it?
OMG!!! That would be nuts!!!:eek: If there is a way to do this guys, we need to find it!! :eek2:

Wow, that is great that you now know what ATK stands for. You must be new to ASUS Motherboards. I posted a pic of the latest version. Or, like I said, you can get it on the ASUS support download site by searching utilities.

No, there is not special driver for the controller.
Please install the ACPI driver for ATK 0110 virtual device for a try. http://dlsvr.asus.com/pub/ASUS/misc/...PI_1043400.rar
If the problem still exists, please install a fresh WinXP OS and support CD drivers.
Lame. New V2 BIOS still didn't fix G15 (USB Keyboard) not recognized until the system boots into Windows. GRRR......
Hello everyone. I have the first version of this board. Yesterday I wanted to reset the bios via cmos jumper however I accidentally removed the jumper of the chassis intrusion pins. And when I realized it I put it back. Since then I can't boot my pc. After cpu, ram and hdd recognition it writes " Chassis Intruded! Fatal Error ... System Halted" and everything freezes. I tried to reset bios via jumper and by removing the bios battery. I waited 12 hours without battery but nothing changed. I upgraded the bios with EZFlash to 1504 but still I get the same error message. If I reset bios then I can go into bios with F1 key. After arranging the bios and saving I can't boot, same message appears on the screen. I can't continue with F2 after bios reset because my disks are in AHCI mod and windows can't load because when I reset the bios all the disks begin in IDE mode. Anyway did you have a similar problem? Or know about this problem. I'd really appreciate any help. Otherwise I would go for an RMA. Thanks.
I have an Asus P6T deluxe V1 mobo and I have a dumb question. We all know of the places the mobo that have jumpers on them that control chassis intrusion, QPI voltage and CMOS reset. They use the standard blue jumpers and they have the black 'foundation' that is attached to the mobo to ensure that the pins don't push through jumpers. Sorta like a 'safety stop' for lack of better words.
My question is this, I have a tendency to 'push too hard to make sure things don't fall off' when i check jumpers. Is there any chance of me having the strength to push hard enough to actually dislodge or push the pins themselves through the motherboard? I have a feeling the answer should be no only because I am pushing on the jumper itself and the 'black foundation' should stop the jumper once it is on all the way.
Ease my paranoia.......
No danger to cause this. Mainboards have multiple layers of copper traces, and those solder spots for the jumper pins go all the way through the board inside a copper 'pipe' that connects it to the top and underside trace layer of the board. That whole little pipe is sucked full with solder, and it is a massive 1 mm thick layer of metal.
However there is also no point in pushing too hard, those jumper caps have metal 'tongues' to touch the actual pin. Just push them in till you feel some resistance and you're ok. I have never seen one falling off...
Do any of you have a chassis intrusion problem like me?
Try to boot with another Win HDD. May be a bios issue too, sounds like RMA.
Hmmm... in addition I get a BSOD ( Machine_Check_Exception ) on startup if I enable C-State on the proc. Does anyone else have this problem? Does anyone have C-State successfully enabled?
Ya but unless you want to run the Asus utilities you dont need it, i didnt think anyone here would want to run it. Latest driver dont do crap if you're not using the software. But ye im sure you can get it from the Asus site if you want to run it.
With the Marvell thing, my P6T standard dont have sas but anyway the 2 verticle ports are intel 7/8, the micron ports are with the other intel ports but micron are orange instead of red 0/1. Dont know about the deluxe.
What is the max. Tj temp. for the 920 on the p6t deluxe v2 ?
I hit 98C during prime95 (reported by real temp. 3.00).
The machine is table but I am worry about the temp.
Hi Mlai, and others,
I've got an issue with my mouse and keyboard. it's a Razer Lycosa keyboard and a Razer Copperhead mouse.
Somehow, when connected to the same USB connector pair/hub, the mainboard's BIOS would mistake accidental mouse motions for pressed keys and jump wildly through the BIOS options, with tictictic noises as if someone would hold some key on the Lycosa down.
It's annoying but easy to solve.
I just thoguht I'd mention it, since some folks are having issues with the G15s.
This is my BIOS configuration for 920 D0 @4.2Ghz (Idle CPU temp 45ºC / Full max load 77ºC)
Ai Overclock Tuner: Manual
CPU Ratio: x21
Intel Speed Step: Disable
BCLK Freq: 200

In case someone need it to compare.
Is anybody getting stable Overclocking on AIR with less volatges ?
If so can post BIOS Configuration to compare (as a guide)
Is there any other setting i should change?
Sorry for my English
Not on mine. I'm running an old BIOS and haven't any issues, even when running Linx for 50 iterations. My CPU is under H20 though so that may have an impact.
I'm debating trying one of the new BIOS' to see if I can hit 4.2Ghz without any problems. I have a C0 chip but it runs great at 1.31v 4.0Ghz with HT disabled. I'm a gamer and HT is absolutely useless to me.

I know Asus does not list every change. Like they removed the Intel 5520/5500/X58 I/O Hub I/OxAPIC Interrupt Controller - 342d because of a conflict and never noted that. Hey, do we need that?
I'm on bios 0507 (dated 4/28) on P6T Vanilla. Good bios, boot 21/220 from (bios set), but my xeon W3520 still has all those features locked. It's not a big issue, performance-wise, but it blows my mind why Asus is still not doing anything about it.
