I just got my board, and it is my first DFI board, do any of you have some settings for a Q6600, espacially I never worked with GTL and dont know what it does, yes working with asus board is easy, I got a Q6600 that needs 1.288vcore for 3.6ghz and 3.825 ghz for 1.376vocre, and i got some pair of ballistix that are capable of 1200mhz 5-5-5-12 @ 2.00v. settings for 450x8, to start with? or 425x9? Thnx!
Its the northbridge as it cant process all the data from all the dimm slots fast enough when set at full speed. Thats why two 2gb stick are better as it only use`s two dimm slots and this helps the mhc.Quote:

Each GTL setting in the BIOS has it's own opamp. The input of each opamp is tied to VTT. The value set in the BIOS determines the output of each amp.Quote:

So when you see a 110 in bios it's actually 0.812v measured with a DMM by Clunk and the differences between the GTL's is because Clunk is trying to make our life even easier, so to get both GTL's on the ball park of 0.81v for a 1.213vtt (1.250v in bios) as an example, you should use 110 on one and 105 on the other that will give a 0.812-0.816 on each (67% of 1.21vtt)!
Go with Clunk's chart that you will see the stability happening. But ofcourse some boards like different percentages, my X48 loves 69% so I used the chart to find the real 69% on each GTL...

just finished running prime for 2 hours , cpu ram mixed. all passes ! yesss!
so far i have 475fsb x8 =3.8ghz memory =1140mhz.
still sometimes it when i start it up , it turns on and off. but it did that with a 450fsb. i think its ok.... i hope lol

is that right even for dual core? i read before that gtl 0/3 was for quad?
also my nb is at 1.456v is that too high? should i try reducing it abit?
GTL0 is for core 0 and GTL1 is for core 1. Whatever GTL value that brings stability to your system is the right value.Quote:

Last night i made a OCCT torture test and it passed the test. But then i tried with Prime95 blend test and it fail after 2 hours.
I'm going to raise the VTT/GTL Disable to find out if VTT is to low... I will give feedback later.
its good to see someone elses settings to compare.
i had to up my cpu vid to 1.47 and dram to 2.35 in order to get prime stable.
it worked though ,before that it was crashing after two hours, i just ran it today for 3hours with no probs.
i read on anandtech that it was best to disable T2 dispatch. i cant remember why , but i have it disabled .

Hmmm...I'm running my setup at virtually identical bios settings, except I think I had the fsb at 445 instead of 460 and I used a 8x multi to try and focus on ram stability. I've varied the NB and CPU VTT volts quite a bit, although I don't think I've set the CPU VTT volts to more than 1.39ish volts. And I increased the ram volts up to 2.23, the same as what you are running. Under these settings, I cannot even post. Also. I see your PCIE clock is set at 105mhz, whereas I have left mine on either auto or fixed at 100.
I essentially can only post at the board default settings (I think RAM speed is either 667 or 800 mhz at default) or slightly higher- up to about 900mhz- at which I can pass a round of memtest. Any higher will either not post or fail memtest by test #5.
Thinking that 4 sticks were to much to deal with right now, I pulled out two to see if that would help. But alas, no love. Still more or less the same memory ceiling. :shrug:
Could having the GTL REF voltage control set to disabled be a big instability issue? Or are any of the memory settings left to "auto" as listed in JohnMike's post so tight on the auto setting that they could lead to instability if not set to manual and relaxed a bit? Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for any suggestions you could offer.
im amazed u gys can get 4 modules going at such a low voltage. i need atleast 2.35 otherwise it crashes.
i tried reducing it slightly and it crashed during prime test.

I would try first to lower the multi and check the highest FSB possible (100% stable) with each and every strap, and then, after, raise the multi and try that FSB again.
If it fails, then it would be obvious that is the cpu...
Anyway, I would relax a the

It could that that the issue is about these settings.
Another thing I would try as well, is to swap the position of the dimms, and try every combination. Since you have 4x1GB, the system becomes much more sensitive to this issue.

Considering that the cooler can fit only horizontally,can you put the fan bracket or not?This is very important for me!
I know that if this fan is mounted vertically(which on this mobo is impossible),you can put the 4 fan bracket,but remove the one from the upper left.

When mounted horizontally, you can use the fan bracket without a problem. I got mine to mount vertically but I had to grind the a cm or so off the rear facing corner of the top shelf on the NB HS. I ended up moving it back to horizontally for better airflow through the NB HS. I have it passive using the fan from the TRUE to draw air through it.

Looking at it, my guess is yes, the reason that the TRUE doesn't fit on now is because the top edge of the NB heatsink nearest the CPU catches on the pipes on the TRUE. If you were to remove a small amount of that edge, the TRUE would fit.
The new heatpipe setup is much lower and the NB cooler itself clips off.
So my guess is that it is doable :)

I´ve removed the cooler to see if the is anything wrong with the surface of the cooler and the CPU but everything is fine. I heard about the problems with the E8xxx CPUs but I thought it was fixed with the new BIOS.
I thought you had the problem with one core working and the other sticking. Maybe your heatsink on the cpu is faulty or your thermal grease is not spread even on the cpu. Have you tried it in another mobo just to see ??

Another thing that made me get the 88 error was a CPU that had quite literally been overvolted within an inch of it's life :lol: I had been using high CPU PLL voltage on it and it had degraded so much that it just wouldnt overclock much any more with any stability.
If you hadn't already said you had tested it, my money would have been on the RAM as the main culprit. A dead or dying stick of RAM can cause all the problems you are having.
Figured I'd post my 24/7 setup with a Q6600 and G.Skill 1000MHz RAM (2x2GB). 3.6GHz, 9x400, 4:5, DDR2-1000/5-5-5-13. This is Prime LargeFFT 8 hours stable (multiple runs) and also stable through multiple runs of PCMark Vantage.
The biggest factor of Prime failure for me has been heat more than anything else. As long as all cores stay under 65C, things are fine. For 450FSB the NB needed 1.43V+ for reliable POST. (Below that, sometimes it POSTs and sometimes not) And 450FSB took the tRD up to 7-8 with 2GB sticks so overall I didn't think it's worth it. (compared to tRD=6 @400FSB with pseudo tRD=5 using the Pull-In)Code:CPU Feature

I have this board and am loving it so far :D ...
Right now I have a CPU with a known FSB wall of 380, The little allendale will ultimately find it's way to a future HTPC rig. But for now I'm unsure whether I should pair this board with a q6600 or e8400? I don't think I've seen many people with the DFI LT X48-T2R @ 500+FSB...
Hi m8 well at idle i get 24 NB and 30 ish on all cores but in prime after say an hour os so i seem to be about 55 on NB and all my cores. I think my NB is high because its 2nd on my loop after my cpu and as soon as i stop Prime it drops back to 24-30 almost straight away.Quote:

I've been able to deal with the code 88 hangs by a hard power down, plus or minus a CMOS clear.
I've tried three different brands of memory that are both memtest and orthos blend stable (even overclocked) in other mobos, so I think the RAM is good. I'm just trying to get PC8500 memory to run at or near stock 1066mhz with this mobo, and it is a real battle. I've tried a range of RAM voltages (I think all 3 brands state a recommended voltage of 2.1v, so I've tried 1.9 to 2.23 volts) and used relaxed timings and subtimings. I've never increased the CPU PLL volts. I've tried using both of the pairs of memory slots too.
I guess the thing that confuses me the most is that when I do through trial and error obtain bios settings that will post, pass memtest, and boot into windows, I will record them and save them to CMOS. If I come back later to use these same exact settings with the same memory sticks, there is a fair chance I will get a C1 error and the board won't even post. Similarly, there will be instances where I have to clear CMOS and power down three or four times before the same pair of memory sticks will even post at board default speeds (667 or 800mhz depending on the strap I'm using). It is this unpredictable behavior with the same given bios settings at stock or near stock memory speeds that makes me want to impugn the board.
I haven't tinkered too much with GTL REF settings, but I was under the impression that with a dual core at stock cpu and ram speeds, they should be ok on "disabled".

What fan fit's the heatsink on the LP ?
As I can judge it looks like 40mm or 60mm is the one, I've measured the space from the holes on the heatsink it's about 55mm
What about an 80mm fan ? looks like an 80mm in on this pic above.
Anyone that have a fan on their LP can you guys tell me how it does the job and the temp. difference ? and of course what size/s can fit.

When I boot from a cold start my mobo powers up for a few seconds then powers down and boots up normally a second or two later. Is this common?
I'm having some weird issues with the latest BIOS and the 9650 CPU...my 8400 worked flawlessly at 4.2ghz but even at stock settings, my 9650 is having issues with this board...once, out of the blue, the temps shot up to 75c and the PC shut down to prevent damage...and now if I don't leave the CPU settings on AUTO, I can't boot into Windows...I suspected the CPU being defective, but when I put it into my DFI P35 UT board, it works great and overclocks to 4ghz, no problem.
I'm pissed now...hopefully this is some strange BIOS issue and gets resolved soon...I was planning on using this board with a phase set-up later on too.

I made a typo regarding the DIMM voltage measured with a DMM, I said I set 2.19v & my board made 2.1~2.2v it should have read 2.21~2.22v.

a mate of mine had a really similiar problem with a different board. it seemed like it was his ram but it ended up being his cpu. he reckons it might be ur cpu as well.
is there a way to test it? guess u need a spare cpu ,but if u do i would try running it just to see.
just a question, ive noticed alot of u have set ur "CPU VID Special Add" to different figures. i wasnt sure what it was so i left it on auto.
so even though its running stable, should i leave it on auto?and not worry about it , or should i change it to a certain figure?
vid special add, adds that % to the vcore so that u can get between settings
This board seems to overvolt the CPU at auto and I don't know how much. I think I read on Clunks site to set it so you KNOW what it's supposed to be. Even at that, my board overvolts the CPU.Quote:

The board over volts the CPU from what is set in BIOS by roughly .050v so if you want 1.475v set 1.425v
The other nice thing with the vid special add feature is if you leave the CPU vcore on auto & add any additional voltage you need using vid special add you can use C1E to throttle your CPU speed & voltage up & down when the PC is idling or gaming etc. This feature will allow your CPU to relax a bit when not being used & it will snap back to full power/speed when needed.

I run my rigs 24/7 & have always used C1E where poss & found it to work very well/perfectly in-fact. Praz over on the DFI P35 thread brought this up recently & I haven't heard anyone thats used it say anything bad about it so I'm sure you'll be good to use it.Quote:

The thought of a bad CPU did cross my mind, and both of you mentioned scenarios of such resulting in similar difficulties to the ones I've described. I'm using a new retail version E8400 that I purchased just for this board, but anything is possible I suppose. I do have a conroe chip that i can pull from another board for testing- I will post my findings.

Yes and Yes. I have my G92 GTS in the second slot to improve airflow to the NB HS and True. Others here report nice temps using the EnzoTech block, even though it doesn't give 100% coverage.Quote:
