I prepared going buy this board, but can i put regular waterblocks within the nb and sb?
Is there someone who will give me the dimensions of the mountingholes?
thx.

Hi every one,
I have this board now for up to 3 weeks and having big problems with!
It just won't oc, what have I done:
first bios 2007/12/11 installed everything and booted up fine, install xp oke, tried to oc up to 250fsb no problem after that 260fsb no boot. Lowerd the mem to 400mhz and continued up to 278 fsb (3200mhz) htt multi 3 stock vcore, prime error after 20 minutes. 3100 still errors even @ 1.42 vcore.
Memory runs fine @ ddr1000 @ cpu 2500 multi 10 fsb 250.
But combining these things is just hell: 260fsb + htt multi 3 is boot with mem @ 400mhz divider. higher mem speed is no boot. higher vcore doens't help higher voltage on southbrigde doens't help either.
But now the most absurd thing, even @ fid 5x vcore 1.35 and 308mhz htt (multi 5) and memory @400mhz divider it won't boot. Lower htt (200mhz setting) won't boot either and upping vcore and southbridge voltage wont help also. With bios 2007/11/22 I can't even boot with fsb 225 and higher.
And bios 2008/1/30 it's the same as the original.
Also I can't boot from cd when my dvd drive is connected to the si3132 while it is in mass storage mode, the drive is spinning up strange and read light keeps burning. Is this normal not being able to boot from that controller with dvd drive (drive is a sony nec optiarc 7200s).
First I thought it might be my ram but 3oh6 in this forum has the same and is booting fine as I read (did you also use this ram with the 5000+ be?) it here.
So Please people help me is my board cooked or something and how do I prove it's faulty for rma when it runs stable @ stock except for the dvd drive issue.
I think your probs are similar to mine, just a bit worse..
I blame it on the imc.
could you boot 278 x 11,5 @ ddr667 divider?, so that mem is at around 800?
maybe your cpu is not the best one if prime errors at 3,1ghz @ 1,4v.. is it g1 stepping? no one would guarantee getting over 3ghz stable with such cpu, its not seldom that these chips dont go that well..
someone from forumdeluxx is testing on a gigabyte and is getting results that seem to indicate weak imc's as well..
btw: could you please post your everest mem speeds? I get >10000 @ ddr1066, but with half multipliers its only around 5000-6000 at comparable speeds and timings..
Odd that the scripts dont work for you, it's damn neat that way. Gonna ask sam2008 for the source code of it's tlb-fix app.
That PSU is nice, might get one too. ;)
What bug? Did you post something about it in the MSI thread?Quote:
I just tried everything again, found a bug in CnQ. Good news. ;)
@others: sry, did not try an x2 cpu and using no watercooling here.
Yeah Achim I want him to make the source code available or just edit it himself to add MSR values.
PSU: Picking it up tomorrow. Would be good if you had one to compare if we both pull different currents/watts for the same volts/settings.
CnQ: If I change values whilst having CnQ enabled (through Windows+BIOS), CnQ doesn't fully kick in until I disable it within Windows and then enable it again. Loses me 3-5W AC idling.
As you know, I've found I'm still stable at lowish volts for 204x13x9x9x2.66, 94W AC idling now writing this and having at least 11 other apps open. Still at the same volts you can see in my 3DMark06 run I posted in the MSI thread. It's been running for over 35 hours now at this setting, many reboots etc, but hardly any downtime. I'll move it up slowly, testing all CPU/IMC/HT/RAM for instability is a bit of a long winded hassle.
Well, found the WinRing0 library (http://openlibsys.org/manual/), should not be too difficult to write such an app with that lib.
Just ordered one, p-tune looks promising. Hope i can run the monitoring stuff on a different pc (assuming it connects via usb or similar).
I think this is normal behaviour, if the p-state changes the register get's copied to c0010070. Here it was enough to generate some load start/stop prime95 to force the switch.
Must say i'm ok with 2.6GHz at 1,3375V (1,325V just froze). Max i got stable for more that 4hrs is 2.63GHz(~1,39375V). 2.64GHz freezes after ~half an hour with volts up to 1,45V, which is too much for me to run 24/7.
Can not get my idle consumption below 105W AC.
Visual C++ Express makes his way to my laptop atm. Already installed it on my phenom system and was able to build the OpenLibSys DLL. Samples require MFC so i can't build em with the express edition.
Never wrote a windows app in c++, gonna skim over a few tutorials first. Should not be too difficult. :)
Hehe, excellent find. It makes it look so easy :) Need to remove a ")" from the end of that link to make it functional.
Not sure what you mean, but if you mean the PSU is used and monitoring one system while you're logged on another and seeing the metrics with the software, then I'm not sure.Quote:

Yep. But in my case, total P-State change didn't occur even if it was copied to c0010070 and c0010065 and c0010062 set to P1 unless I enabled and disabled CnQ again.Quote:

Wow, things are a little different but my volts are lower so that's why. I had to increase volts to get more stability but no need to increase IMC/NB/HT/RAM volts yet. I'm at this since around 12 hours now for stability:Quote:

Attachment 73497
One notch less in volts (1.264) would fail on core3 after 30 mins while other carried on past 4 hours smallFFT.
CnQ Power: Idle 93W AC
No CnQ Power: Idle 105W AC
It's getting better with optimizations, pretty weird. ;)
Yea I don't like clogging my drives up with big software etc, not even got word/etc installed on these. Only the basics. IMO writing C++ is boring but that's not the worst bit, deassembling them is the biggest pain. :(
BTW, Sapphire board I may skip testing. I'm too short of time and got the Abit 770 and GBT 780G as well to test yet.
LOL my Crosshair idles at 165w with Phenom 9500@stock and 7900GTO@stock, one hardrive, no cnq enabled. (275W max under load, gaming) I'm getting the abit 770 board too in a few days, looking forward to testing it :)
Quick Q, surely having the phenom black edition means I can take the multiplier of the CPU up a notch from 11.5 to 12, surely it can handle that right? It posts no problem, but it freezes on its way into windows!
Oh and a side note, my system hung yesterday randomly. Came back from work and found that the monitor wouldn't wake up :(
278x11.5 @ ddr667 won't do any good need to go to ddr533 and lower htt multi to 3x to get it stable. Btw my cpu is a g2 brisbane so I would have expected it to atleast do good @ 3.0ghz but thats even a problem. Speed I can't test right now pc is @ my parents.
About the optical drive problem on the si3132 does any one have similar probs?
Sparky, should easily be able to do 11.5 to 12 multi change. Bump the V to 1.265V and check, if it fails, you most likely have other problems somewhere.
Can you give us a ss of what AMD Power Monitor along with Memset 3.5BETA and CPUZ CPU/SPD tabs show?
LIKMARK, 165W AC idle is mostly due to your card+chip I'm gathering. I have more peripherals connected than you and have to increase Volts to 1.29V idle now because after 15hrs, trying SupCom, it failed after 1hr37m play at the above post#608 setting, and still, I'm idling 106W AC without CnQ and 95W AC with tweaked CnQ.
I'm wanting to trying 5 boards ATM (RD790: Sapphire/Jetway, ASUS Crosshair II, Abit AX78, Gigabyte 780G) and give feedback and I can pick all of them up by Friday evening, incl the ASUS with 10 phase PWM ()... problem is actually time and space. I'm too overloaded nowadays, I haven't even managed to post 8 different and very large testings I've done with K7.5/P4C/P4/X2 BE 45W/X2 G2 BE/C2D G0/C2Q G0/X4 95/96/96BE since 6 weeks now, not even arranged the +600 odd pics, they're scattered all over UK on diff. systems, then theres the in-depth memory test I ran similar to that recent article posted here but at least 4 weeks before it and not yet posted, incl not answering around 104 old PMs, 19 vital member posts and 24 old emails yet and skimping on some lengthy testing for software devs and site reviewers. :(
It's why I 'aint really doing much, and also dropped writing an intro AM2+ guide linking to 5 in-depth walk through guides for Phenom systems and overclocking on different boards, setup, requirements, best procedures, known issues, experiences, oddities, expectations, base performances, performance tweaking 'n' tricks (exact values and their effects), limitations, stability testing and how to deal with them, especially the biggest headache causers and things for newcomers, incl. which CPU (Phenom/C2Q) is better for which sort of real-life segment and which program (can bench 2.8GHz Phenom and 4GHz C2Q all the way down to air to show each application). There's a big difference between oc now and before. Before with C2Q, quads were either the market for those who spend on nothing but computers, rich, very limited specific need segment or are too into them beyond reality or need so don't mind waste credit card purchases to pay-off over the next year. Now quads are open to near enough everyone of the general public, again this because of AMDs mainstream competition and pricing, to whoever can afford any standard single core PC, and so a lot more newcomers are getting them, want to oc and get started on them, especially with the 9500/9100e and the various 770/780G/690G chipsets incl. the MSI/DFI 790FX and their prices. You can't exactly write "MSR001_0070 [32:29] in CCPUID MSR Editor and you're done!" but you have to write towards the intended audience most of whom know nothing of that sort. ;)
Daily IT onliner, gamer, mainstream, overclocker/bencher, budget, general desktop, HTPC, science calcs, rendering/multimedia are different segments, with different needs, perspectives, uses and thus tips and advices.
hey guys, i have the dk version of this board and i am having some problems with getting into bios or (doing anything prior to os boot) with a usb keyboard... so far the only thing that works is an old ps2 keyboard for when i ever want to change anything in the bios... has anyone else had this problem and is there any fix for it? thanks! >.<
@ DPeter: Sounds exactly like mine... higher mem dividers make the system not to boot or fail in prime at clocks both cpu and mem are stable at testing them each for themselves..
i really think its the imc. i dont know whether some tweaking with the dram driver settings and/or timings will do something good but i have little hope..
the imc's in the k8 am2 cpus are simply ddr1 imc's that were little modified to run ddr2, but they are at their ends clockwise, speaking literally..
its a shame, ddr1100 would be very nice but its not possible..
all you can try is playing with the dram settings or testing another cpu..
and wait for phenom b3..
I'll try that. Here is the screenshot you wanted. I'm trying to figure out why refresh cycle on DIMM 0 is 105ns while the rest are 75ns  Also it appears CPU-Z is reading the SPD for my memory wrong or the memory SPD is wrong, should be 4-4-4-12 2.0V or 2.1V at 400MHz, not 5-5-5-15 1.8V.
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...henomstuff.jpg
a question: how about temperature read out using a phenom? core temps/cpu temp within reasonable range??
my windsor gives much too high cpu temps, the brisbanes core temp readouts are much too low..
@ DPeter: You use a 2x2GB Kit (like me), right? I think this is causing some more stress on the imc too..
It is easy to use if you are familar with c no cryptic c++ inside.
THX link fixed.
Ah ok, that makes a difference. Noticed here that without phenom drivers installed only the multi changes and the vid stays.
1,3375 CPU VID froze in the morning exactly as i powered on the monitor and tried to move the mouse. 1,35V froze after a few minutes, had it stable at that voltage for 10hrs already. Restored my save 2.5GHz settings (higher nb and chipset voltages and mem in 800 mode).
p-state tweaking does not help in stability here, maybe if i also touch idd stuff. But it saves ~30W AC here, lot more than on your system. Also the system is still pretty snappy at 800MHz for normal tasks
Hope i can port that stuff to msys or cygwin once i'm finished.
No big deal, with that PSu we can use the exact same testing setup's, so no need to do everything twice.
Those 780G boards are only listed at a few sites but not jet at stock here. Hope I can get the J&W RS780UVD or something similar with side port memory.
I just finished mounting the board into a case, water cooling on processor and graphics, NB/SB/mosfet heatpipe remounted with MX-2... and first it said Boot disc error, which didn't make any sense, but then after rebooting twice, it went to post code 88. Any guesses?
sorry for the late reply...just saw this post and happened to catch my name in there.
i haven't done a whole lot of overclocking the 5000+ with the OCZ2P10004GK in the 790fx yet as i am running a mountain of benches for a review but will get on it shortly. i am running the OCZ kit with the 5000+ right now at 255*11/467MHz and have this screenshot on the 10X multi with the /5 divider at 520MHz 5-5-5...
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...0_hci1hr-1.jpg
will get into more systematic clocking of this setup when i get my work done, but it won't be for a little while yet. HTH
Oese I haven't yet been able to test 1066 @ half dividers cause I've taken it apart just one more time.
But when it's up again I will check for you.
About the stress on the imc with 2gig modules, do you think the imc and htt controller are connected?
I mean will the 2gig modules cause the low max htt (305mhz x5) even @ low mem speeds just because the imc is having a hard time managing 2 gig sticks?
Can you give me the link of the forumdeluxx gigabyte thread?
It's nice to have some one with the same problem cause I really feel like :horse: with this brisbane! (2.88ghz is not stable in vista 64 :( )
3oh6 thanks for your info, when your ready to go for some more oc-ing, could you check your max htt speed with these sticks? just to check the above theory! Btw could a motherboard grounding issue also be able to cause this problem?(it's fully stable @ stock)
If it's true than I will be the first to run a Kuma dual core K10.
OK So I think my M2RS is defective :( I tried to bump the multi from 11.5 to 12 again and nothing, but then I couldn't get it to post again. Reset cmos, set default settings again (SPD sets too high of timings) and save, no POST. reset again, try again, no POST. I finally got it to POST and boot up now, but I am running on not-standard settings. I pulled the power to my gfx card and turned the PC on, it should at least complain about that, but nothing. Something is goofy on the board :(
How good is motherboardpro.com with an RMA? I'm considering buying a different board and sending it in for a refund as I can't be without my PC. maybe even go intel since this is totally driving me crazy... :(
ahhh, you just missed me. i am back to the Phenom for a whole pile of benches but i do have to switch to another Phenom sometime tomorrow or Monday so at that time i will take 10 mins and see if the HTT i can reach with 2x1GB is the same as the 2x2GB kit. before, i had the 5000+ in there with a kit of FireStix PC2-9600s (2x1GB) and 330HTT wasn't a problem but i couldn't get much higher than that for some reason. i will at least see if it gets that high with the 2x2GB OCZ platinums.
keep your eyes on this post monday afternoon/night sometime
@ DPeter: Yes I do think that htt and memory divider are connected. The cold bug issue when having x2's under extreme cooling shows this clearly.. The cold bug (i.e. lowered max htt under extreme cooling) is dependend on the imc, which is the first 5 letters of the processor stepping (ccbbe, ccb9e and so on..).
so thats my theory and its nice for me too to have some people that could test with their rigs...
the guy with the gigabyte and different cpu's (and a m2r as well) is wishes in this thread: http://www.forumdeluxx.de/forum/showthread.php?t=463011
@ all: Is there a dram timing skew option in any bios version??
Hello one and all I'm back online;)
So how is the 1/30/2008 Official Bios working for everybody??
Been busy with the move and only used it for a couple of days prior to breaking down my system for the move.
Good to see you back Campbell. :D
Thought you had lost your way to home for a second. Home as in XS :stick:
Hey, Tye how the hell are ya? Have you re-upped and gotten a DFI 790FX-M2R;)
With 1/30/2008 as well as with 2/12/08 beta i have trouble running high htt's with my 2x2gb memory kit. Won't boot above 290Mhz .. Older bios's not tested yet.
With half multipliers i'm stable at high htt's, but memory performance is lowered a lot (1/2 - 2/3).. Do you know something about this behaviour?
A member from forumdeluxx/Germany found out that on his asus 790fx mobo adjusting the dram timing skew diminished this problem.. would it be possible to add such an option to the bios, or is there a version with this option available?
I'm used to it since my first s939 dfi mobo..
I'm running X10 Multi @ 353 so I have not had any of those issues that you speak of:confused:
Try enabling the Memory Hole Remapping feature in Bios that should do the trick with 4GB Ram:)
ahhh give it a try thx! :)
edit: mmh had memory hole remapping enabled already, i think this is necessary for the bios to recognize 4gb...
enabled memory hole instead.. did not really help.. following tests with/without memory hole enabled were the same..
266x12 DDR800 HTx5= 3,2Ghz cpu 1066mem is rockstable
275x12 DDR667 HTx5= 3,3Ghz cpu ~840mem is at least 2h primestable
320x10 DDR667 HTx4(3,2,1) wont boot
320x10 DDR533 HTx4 boot
330x10(8,6) DDR533(400) HTx4(3,2,1) wont boot
looks like imc/memory issue right? upping nb/ht (mobo) voltages didnt help..
Usually its the CPU which is the limiting factor with AMD and some CPU's just don't care for certain multies no matter what you do with them and I can attest to that throuh experience with some of the 939 Opterons:yepp: whats you're HT Multiplier at 800? thats what I run mine at!
Thanks Oliverda I like the Bios as well;)
Yes I believe its the CPU.. I'm running HTx5 (1 Ghz) 24/7 (1330Mhz HT  gives me 300Points more in 3dmark06 ;) I like this about the am2+, someone from forumdeluxx has his running @ 1600Mhz with an x2 no problem...)
Besides the described limitations i'm very pleased with board and bios as well.
A dram skew option would be nice whatsoever ;)
Thanks for your help and advice!
Öse..
Try dropping down to X4 = 800HT and lowering you're Multiplier:up:
Look at the Bios Templates Overclocks I did on the First page of this thread and see if you can get any love with those guide lines:)
Of course I lowered the ht multi to achieve higher htt, as posted above, not that new to oc.. But I will look through the templates again.. don't mind I believe its my cpu/imc, and 3,2ghz 1066mem is fine though..
running @ 3,35ghz (highest achievable with 1,5v at prime) with mem @ 840 does not give me THAT more speed, so I'm comfortable.. Will go for phenom with b3, 6400's too costly for me if i can get a phenom at about 20€ more ;) or 5200+ windsor perhaps :D
looking forward to first results with phenom b3 stepping on this board :D
ahh another little question: does it make sense to get htt cpu boot up clock as high as possible? i left it at 200mhz...
I set my Boot HT to 320 or 350 200 is too low but leave the adjustment HT Gap at 5mhz
ahh thx.. every little bit helps.. :D
but... not a chance :(
looks like a new bios arriving soon at the dfi beta download site??
What do you mean? Only focus on RAID bios update?
Yes Raid Rom update. But I suppose that its much needed as I do not use it because of my Raid Controlller but I have used the SB600 for my Raptors in Raid 0 testing and submitting bugs and it most definitely need major improvement !
they better get it fixed, i know a lot of people having trouble with the uli sb raid on the cfx's.. most annoying..
This is totally different and not ULI but its a dog none the least and it needs serious attention.
of course no uli thank god :D
how are the chances that something else was improved other than raid rom?
Such as what? The only thing these Bios are really waiting on are Source Code Update from AMD /Award and more Microcode Update in regards to Phenom and new architecture
ah ok.. didnt know, just asking ;)
Of course there are some addition quirks that need to be sorted out which are of course issues with SB600 Raid Option Rom that needs dyer attention and also some small quirks such as some improved Next Generation PCI-E 2.0 Support due to slight refresh issue when Bios opens up. and of course the USB Keyboard issues
My mouse sometimes won't be recognized after the system was disconnected from the power grid when a usb printer is connected..
But I dont know whether its my mouse or the board or both.. Its a razer lachesis and not really free of bugs..
But good news.. I got the system booting into windows at 330x10 DDR667 divisor finally.. ok it hung but thats my ram its not stable at DDR1100.. 366x9 boots into win perfectly as well..
It was the trfc.. needed to set all four trfc's (not only of the banks that are occupied by my ramkit), and better 195ns than 127ns.. so thats ok and VERY good to know ;)
I am new to the overclocking arena..
Need to know where to start..
DFI LanParty UT 790FX-M2R
XFX PVT88PYDD4 GeForce 8800GT XXX 512MB
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000BE
ZALMAN CNPS 9500 AM2 2
OCZ Titanium XTC 4GB DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
SeaSonic M12 SS-500HM
Antec Nine Hundred
Idle temp is about 17 degrees C.
thx
First Page I have put some Overclocks with Bios Templates just remember this board responds well to low voltage and theres no need to crank stuff all the way up
Aaah you're thekat from the dfi club forum as well? :D
So how are your temps in windows under load :D
OC is pretty easy, if you want to do it the right way, first test cpu and ram separately and then go for a good combination.
first of all load optimized defaults in bios and save in a cmos reloaded slot..
to test ram simply put memory speed to DDR800 manually, then lower the cpu-multiplier and switch off cool and quiet in the bios.
than ramp up htt/cpu host until you get a no boot. Then you have a first estimation of what is possible with the ram. about 10-15mhz below this you should be able to boot into win.
at this time you normally dont need any messing with voltages and timings, but thats dependend on your ram. you could set it to 5-5-5 manually to see if you get some higher speeds and/or raise voltage to ~2.2v to look whether it does respond well to that or not. if not (and trfc is right :p), you should forget about voltage and/or timings for the first time and leave it at default. sometimes some subtiming can bring a boost in oc, but only if the spd is programmed with very tough timings.
ok now the cpu: lower the ram divisor to DDR533 or DDR400 and start pushing the htt again to find out max bootable clock at default voltage. cpu's normaly respond quite well to voltage, especially if default is as low as 1.2v as the case with amd's newer chips, but you should avoid > 1.5v at aircooling and I would say even not to go further than 1.4v without a good cooler.
so if you hit the wall, lower htt a 10-15mhz again, go into windows (if it doesn't boot lower it further) and test the cpu with 2 instances of prime (one on any core).
with this board i do not get into trouble with ht-clocks as long as htt/cpu host is below 280mhz. If you come close, lower the ht-clock from 1Ghz down to 600 or 800Mhz to see if you get some more stability.
OK, after all you now can think f a setting that comes close to cpu and ram max speed and be cool enough for day to day usage...
if you want to use c'n'q you are limited to the standard cpu multiplier, if not you can disable the c'n'q option, set a lower cpu multi and go for higher cpu host/htt-clocks to see if you can get a bit closer to max ram at a given cpu speed.. its tricky sometimes and i always have a calculator near me :D
after all, you will have to test your setting with prime blend (for ram stability) and prime large fft for cpu (2 instances always with a dual core) and of course in everyday usage.
perhaps if you suppose some ram oddity you could go for goldmemory to test ram alone..
oc on this board basically is very easy because the board isnt bottleneck anymore, as it was often with nF4...
good luck :D
@ brother esau: could lower my vcore as well now for my 24/7 setting 2 x 64bit prime stable :D very nice :D trfc really was the turning point..
Yes sir.. making the rounds :)
That is a loaded question since I don't run Windows.. :-)Quote:
So how are your temps in windows under load :D
I am getting 4 temp readings from lm-sensors..
As you can see this processor is *way* cooler running the same HSF asCode:Core0 Temp: +9.8 C
Core0 Temp: -2.8 C
Core1 Temp: +4.8 C
Core1 Temp: - 8.8 C
I did on the 6400BE..
Have to read the man pages on lm-sensors to get some explanation
on the + and -
Much thanks for the helpful replies..
I will test when I get home from the gym...
tk
hehe thats because you're running a brisbane now.. thats giving temp readouts that would fit if the cpu was under a compressor :D known issue with brisbane cores unfortunately..
you can't bench everest cache and memory because no windows, right.. sad..
i would like to know whether half multipliers are slower regarding memory performance with brisbane as well.. looks like.. with windsors, unfortunately i encountered really big differences in memory performance whilst at comparable speeds and timings..
For those of you that just arrived in the thread and are new to owning the board you can read the review I did on the D.F.I 790FX-M2R when I was the only one that owned one in Pre - Release:D ....http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=169709
Has anyone tried the 3/7/2008 Beta Bios yet???
Just so you know I offer free Bios reprogramming service for those that Beta test for this Board in the event of a Bad Flash:D This is only available for those that Test Beta Bios for the D.F.I 790FX-M2R and get on the List with me
Contact me if interested!
Campbell;)
Not too good. :shakes:
Nope, did not change to DFI. None around here to use, I searched high and low, but wanted to get a Sapphire since it's available before my Phenom died while I had two more boards (770 and RS780) lying here to test.
Do you know if motherboards pro ships the DFI to UK? How much, if so and what is the delay period?
Talk to Mike Tye I'm sure they will do it. Don't know cost but they are good folk to buy from and they are honest:) this is Mikes User name here......motherboardpro
ouch. I'll keep this in mind to make sure I keep mem voltages in check. I don't plan on taking the memory over the rated 2.1V anyway so here's hoping everything behaves...
Once I get my M2RS back from RMA hopefully I can get somewhere with overclocking. From what I've seen so far though it is quite a pain to do so :shakes: Almost seems they made things overly complicated, perhaps one reason why it doesn't perform as well as I think they could. Too much stuff going on!
You send you're board in then Sparky?:(
will test new bios :D
thx for review link :D
@ KTE: regrets for dead phenom...
hehe
You load them new Bios up???
New Beta Bios 3/7/2008 ,,,,Linky
Like I said "Beta" Bios Testing not "Official" Bios Testing!
Hi
Thx, I could not get the bios file http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/2...etabiosij2.jpg
i got the bios from china dfi site..
heres the link..
http://tw.dfi.com.tw/Support/Downloa...FLAG=B&SITE=TW
will flash soon :D
yeah flash no problem, my old settings work as always..
everest latency even lower than before :D
Guys submit any info on New Beta please! NIC slow downs/latency on LAN performance degradation if any, or any kind of quirks in new beta also see if the SB600 gives better performance then previous version naturally.
lol the guy with the non-functioning raid didnt reset cmos ;)

Got my mobo from here. ordered Monday turned up Wednesday morning.
Is the Serial Number of the board located on a sticker on the last PCI expansion slot, facing the bottom edge of the board? DFI wants it for an RMA.
IF you are flashing the bios from floppy or Usb stick and using Awdflash Version 8.83, I think it is...add this to the flash syntax /ch . Be sure you clear the CMOS after flash and then Load Optimized Defaults after CMOS clear. Adjust as needed then.
stable.. 2x x64 prime large fft..
but the thing with half multipliers is awful.. compare:
i'd really like to know whether with brisbanes its the same..
Installed the 3/7/2008 Beta and testing it out with the "Exception" of the ATI SB600 Option Rom seeing how I run a dedicated Controller I'll leave that for Ya'll to test and provide feedback I will post my feedback on this Bios for one and all:)
Hey Robert:welcome: how are you Lad? Hey Robert this 3/7/2008 Beta has AWDFLASH 8.90 which is the first version to completely Flash the entire Byte Blocks rows from top to bottom which is good to see because its my belief that after 11/22/07 that was a major problem with the Bios is that is was not Programming the Flash memory correctly!
Finally and glad to see that
Thanks Campbell. I'm in touch with him. ;)

Announcement:
Hey everybody in this thread could you all "Please" read this thread at DFI CLUB and tell me if any of you have experienced this issue at all? I just had a hell of a go with this Issue myself Debugging it and I would like to know if this is a common situation with the D.F.I 790FX-M2R & M2RS????
Please read this Link @ dficlub.com..........PCI-E Bandwith Issues
Will try it aprx. on the weekend. You saw that USB vs. power consumption issue i had bro?
Puttin an 4GB USB stick in that mobo results in ~20-30W AC higher power consumption idling (tried only the stable bios from jan). Under load the difference is ~5W. Stick requires ~3W AC in the M3A and ~1-2W in the P5K-E so something is odd here.
Whats up justapost? Hey are you running Raid or single drive in you're system?
Read that PCI-E Issue post that I linked on the forum here something aint right with all of that! I was gone for a month as you fellas know and had to reinstall windows prior to coming on line when I got my system set up finally and had installed the 1/30/08 Bios 3-4 days before I had moved so didn't really get a chance to evaluate it and oddly enough I get the X8 PCI-E Bandwith allocation on top slot:confused: very weird and don't really know if its intertwined with 1/30/2008 Bios or not yet????
Fortunately i'm testing with two WD 500GB Re HD's in Raid0 atm and benched the hd's already with the stable bios. Will try it with the beta on the weekend.
BTW, Raid0 is faster that on the P5K-E with the same HD's.
U posted that here or in your personal review thread?
no pcie issue over here both cards @ 2.0 16x
but i dont have additional pcie-devices running!
PCI-e OK with 03/07/08 bios.
http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/7217/pciesa1.jpg
PCI-e running at 2.0 x16 on both cards on 1/30/2008 bios
Thanks guys appreciate the input I'm thinking a GFX Card is the culprit:(
Also if you are testing Beta Bios for this Board please PM me so I can put you on the list so I know that you are testing Bios and Debugging them and submitting info in the thread here with you're findings.
This is important that I know who you are and keep a list so incase anything goes wrong as I have stated those who participate get a free Bios Re-Programming in the event of Bios corruption or Bad Flash while Beta testing.
Thank you.........Campbell;)
Anyone that installed 3/7/2008 Beta have or experience any issues or quirky behavior with the Bios ?
For me the 03/07 feels a bit unstable. Had 2 bluescreens with same settings. Don't know why.
@Brother Esau:
Could you put me on the list of the bete bios testers?
i'm not sure as well... the settings i posted (3,2ghz 1,4v) was prime stable 1 whole night, next day no way...
further testing required...
