ATI Tool isn't working under Vista at all currently. You'll have to wait for the next beta.
Doesn't work here :(
ran some benchmarks with my 2900 pro pretty good scores if i say so myself..
3dmark 01

3dmark 03
http://i163.photobucket.com/albums/t...otos/45613.jpg
i used the atitool 27beta2 to raise the gpu voltage to 1.250v all this with stock cooling
Nice going Solarfall!! Now off to raise the bar......:D
here you go brotha :D

is there a program other than 3dmark 06 or atitool to test for videocard stability ?
If I loop all standard test of 3dmark 06 (without the cpu test) for 5 hours , 3dmark kind of exits (or hangs on a load screen) and my total pc hangs .
Is it maybe the constant switching between 2d/3d it has to do (changing voltages/speed of the card) ? Also i see on the futurmark site that they only recommend cat 7.9 not 7.10 . I am using 7.10 ...
my cpu and memory are both tested on primetests for 48+hours stability each .
when the screen hangs after so many hours 3dmark , the temps its on are normal and not high at all . it is however always on 2d speeds when i find it locked ,thats why i think something happens between loading of tests . Gaming gives me no trouble altough i dont game for 5+ hours , i even lowered the core for 3dmark but same thing .
Im starting to assume its a 3dmark problem (it wouldnt even load without the patch installed in the first place) , so id like to test with another program .
sounds more like a problem with the system stability, ram or chipset most likely. Drop them down a bit and re-test gpu.
Hmm...
around 1 in 5 times I exit a game (any game), the PC will restart :-\
??
I removed 2gb memory and dropped the speed of ram to 400mhz 4-4-4-10 , same thing happens .
Besides , dual prime wouldv complained after running 48+hours if system stability was not ok .
Any other program to test videocard stability ?
could it be the constant 2D-3D switching for the ati videocard ? i noticed sometimes rivatuner shows 1.15V even when i am in 2D . clockspeeds are normal , 600/800 then .
Try the OpenGL Fur Rendering Benchmark
There's also Aquamark , the other three 3dMarks, and maybe one or two others im forgetting as I just woke up. Anyone?
Ok, im getting over 60000 in 2001 but i need to up my volts some more & ati tool wont lock in the higher setting 1.2v. is there some trick to this? am i missing something? My card is never going over 65c, im benching in my shed :)
Hello everybody!
I have a problem =(
I can`t raise VGPU in ATI Tool 0.27 beta before overclocking.
When I press "Set clock" VGPU become default.
How I can VGPU constantly by software?
Sorry for my bad English.
Hey Pantacle, I am having the same issue. Hope someone can help us out. I havnt had an ATI card since the 9600xt.
I'm so coming out there soon! :yepp:
Heh, iirc it not "locking in" is one of the main probs with AT. Maybe 9 or 10 pages back there was more discussion of this. Think the gist was set clocks first in RT or AGT then the voltage in AT. I'd go find and link you but I have to go move 8 graphics workstations now. Ya know, I got into IT to avoid manual labor. :shakes:
Hey brotha! Ya man i did the clocks 1st in RT & the went to ATITool to up the volts...this is making me beat my head against the wall. I was chatting with Solarfall(awsome dude) bout all of this & he says he can up the volt & have them stick in ati tool. I was running my cpu clocks @ 3.7 & just got over 60000. His scores are crankn. I think a little bit has to dowith the mobo, but not too much. Tonight im going to bench at 3.8 or higher & see what i can get.
Manual labor sucks..lol...that why im in sales!!

Ps. Just let me know dude, come on out!!
Well we know it's "buggy". As such it's not gonna behave consistently. I'm pretty sure I can get mine to stick, but last time I upped it to 2.0 at 840 fur froze and I haven't tested further as yet.
Oh, winter is just getting started... :cool:Quote:
Just let me know dude, come on out!!
this is my best 3dmark 05 score so far... 21837 3dmarks
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=3601533
Well fitted the new PSU with a glorious 60A 12v rail ;)
Overdrive has given me 826/900, which I'm VERY happy about. Still need to do more testing, but it does look like the Modstream wasn't enough!
Hmm getting the odd lock up on 3D Mark, not on the GPU tests, but either between tests or CPU tests. Odd......
When beching I used to get freezes during 3DMark (at random places). Try lowering the voltage feeding the RAM. Stock mvddc is 2.20. My card can bench at 999Mhz at mvddc 1.875 (maybe lower - haven't tried). 1.875 also fixed the random freezes during 3DMark.
As a bonus, card runs a lot cooler - suggesting that this freezes was due to overheating.
btw, Hynix datasheet says mvddc should be 2.20 for the 1.0ns and 1.1ns ram.
Does the Whiteout demo work artifact free for you guys?
good tip ..
i will def try it out once there is a stable program to change voltages for R600
Haven't studied the datasheet for the GDDR4, but this voltage should definitely not be 2.20V.
The max artifact free clock I can get on the core using Whiteout is 771Mhz.
What about you lot?
You need Vista in case you don't know ;)
Oh, just DX10 demos. Guess that makes sense.
Its the only thing I get artifacts in.
Allmost 77k score in 3d Mark 01, but I can't get it. This is max of my CPU.

you've got DDR4 mate ;)
i got 1.00v to gpu 2900PRO 512MB
Hynix report here
http://www.hynix.com/datasheet/pdf/d...FP(Rev1.7).pdf
hmm
Now, I am understanding, that everybody don`t know how I can do softvoltmod on 2900pro.
I am need know, how I can edit ready bios from 2900pro/xt?
I am very curious to know, what is the maximum stable overclock you guys have been able to get on the 2900Pro 1GB GDDR4?
I would like to know, but with some conditions. First, using the stock 1.15v gpu voltage. Second, using the Pro bios. And by stable, I mean stable for the ATITool artifact scanner, preferably for at least 30 minutes, more is better.
You must have the timer on the artifact scanner actually reach 30, not get delta errors and restart.
Anyone used the Crysis demo benchmark yet? It's in the Bin32 folder, there is a GPU and a CPU bench bat file.
Odd thing is at 1024 x768 its fine, but at 1280x1024 I get flashing red textures and the odd tearing on rocks.
This is at XT clocks.
Anyone else see this?
Well given the general state of AT w these cards I haven't bothered with the artifact scanner but I can try it. Other benches and gaming cause my card to
lose stability in the high 820s with stock bios, 1.15 vdcc. I'm sure it could go higher with better cooling and of course more voltage.
Not sure or don't remember what the max reported 1GB oc here is actually. It's a long thread and most have 512s. What's yours(so far)?
Well the best I can do at 1.15v and pro bios is 820 core and 1035 ram. The next highest increment that I am able to raise the core to is 833, and it freezes up on that.
I let the artifact scanner run for over 60 minutes at 820/1035 and there was not a single error. The next highest ram speed I can use is ~1050 and I get a few delta errors with that.
I am using a thermalright hr-03 with as5 and a panaflo ultra high speed 92mm fan, full load temp on the GPU is 63C.
Result of 'GPU.BAT' (1680 x 1050, singel card, XT speeds):
12 FPS
Well in Vista 1280 x 1024 no AA high detail I get 25 fps at 800/900.
Again I get no graphical errors in Vista under DX10.
The red texture thing has to me an XP specific issue ???
For now I don't know about the pensil Vmod, You can look at this http://www.area3d.ch/forum/showthread.php?t=1608. Allso there is no propertly working bios editor for R600 cards until now and allso there is no final Ati tool working under Vista. With single word - nothing:D
PP. Ati cards always suffer from bad drivers!
Anyone else have the red texture issue under XP with Crysis.
Nope.
Offtopic: I really hope w1zzard updates ATiTool. ATi always gets shafted by lack of a good overclocking program and community support, plus poorly optimized drivers.
I haven't. I firmly believe the 2900 XT has more potential. Plus, I really don't feel like selling my card for a lot less than I paid for 10FPS more.
Well,
Mine currently looks like this:
http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/5...2900propw5.jpg
Mem will not go up any further.
Quite happy with it. High performance increase from stock clocks.
And yes, im also not selling until I get a 30 fps increase from another.
Behave!
Guys, did anyone use rivatuner 2.06? My mobo is RMAed so I cannot test it myself
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=163567
Well, good, your conviction definitely gives me more hope. And I agree w your second point too, though I expect a 1GB card to retain better relative re-sale value. If only for the "novelty factor" of a card with a gig of vram.
I'm certainly not parting with it as soon as the next-gen is available, that much is for sure.
And thanks guys for the heads up re. RT 2.06
(In Vista, have not tried in XP yet)
1. I was getting obvious artifacts in the opening cutscene. They were like little white pebbles going horizontally during the dialog on the plane. Turned my clocks back to 800/950 for now.
2. I set the res to my monitor's native of 1680x1050 and then ran the "optimal" wizard, it came back and said my system should be set to high, so I left it at that.
3. The game ran decently smooth the whole way through. There were occasional slowdowns, but nothing as bad as what I get with Oblivion in XP.
4. I just ran the GPU benchmark, got about 32FPS avg, 42 max and I think 12 min (Frame 146 iirc).
DX10 may actually be viable after all. Also, this game is alot of fun. I love how destructable everything is. Seeing buildings actually get destroyed as a result of an enemy grenade....
Unrelated to this post: It looks like in XP after turning on the adaptive AA in CCC, and then turning it off, it seems to have stayed on. Have been on an Oblivion kick lately, so that's where I'm noticing it. That is to say, slanted lines like rooftops and the like don't look jagged at all.
_g0
Assume you're using all the high-res texture mods etc in Oblivion...have you monitored your vram usage? I have hit a max of 865 at 1920x1200 2x/8x. Any other game has yet to even break 600...
Notice we have similar setups; what is your ave load temp? I hover around 80. Do you have vdcc/mvdcc of 1.15/1.55 too?
I think my avg. load temp is around 85. VDCC 1.15v, MVDCC 1.55v, MVDDQ 1.938v
Also, is there a way to monitor vram temps? I'd really like to know if the artifacts in Crysis were due to software glitching or vram overheating. It looks like both NVIDIA and ATI folks are having this issue. By turning the detail level to low, those artifacts went away, and I was able to go back to 800/925. I'm starting to think whoever said that the ram chips aren't contacting the HSF knew wtf they were talking about.
I guess tomorrow I'll put a side intake fan right next to this card, it's just sitting here. BTW I have seen the air in the bottom of my case near the back get up around 40-45C.
This card makes me want to do something crazy, like putting a peltier on every component and then attaching them to a waterblock and using some kind of crazy refrigerant.
Oh man I really shouldn't post this late.
Crysis demo ran fine on mine, though I am running at 775/999. All settings on High and Object detail on Very High (though it did get a bit choppy in some parts) No AA or AF, 1280x1024 resolution.
I have downloaded it today and will check it later. I'll post details when I have them.
Behave!
Pretty sure there is no dedicated thermistor for the ram.
If we can find the location for the 'ambient' sensor, we can hope this is close to one of the ramchips.
Oh sorry, I don't think I am using the high-res patches for Oblivion. I probably should use them and turn off the grass.
The Crysis demo seemed to be fine, but I when I looked at the bed in one of the buildings I started seeing white dots, and they seemed to persist after that, most noticeably on the ground. The area I was in was the closest camp to the command post, up that little hill. I'm going to run RT in the background so I can see my temps after this happens again. Turning the texture detail down to low seemed to fix it.
Thanks everyone.
Hey Wrig, I'm also in IT. Are you my arch-nemesis?
Sorry, for the earlier misinformation. What caused those white pixels to go away was actually setting shadows to low. I will keep testing but this appears to be strictly a software issue, considering they show up right away when I turn shadows to anything besides low.
Thanks. (Turns OC back up...)
Hey guys has anyone had a low score running Aquamark3?
I'm running my 512m 2900pro at 800/900 and for the GFX score I'm only getting 13000. My x1900xt used to get 12000 on the GFX score.(and my buddies 7950 gets 16000)
I know the card is running fine as when I monitor it in rivatuner it does go to the 3d clocks. I also get a decent score in 3dmark06(9100).
The only changes I've done to the program is updating the direcpll to the new one.
I get about 151.000 on stock (xt-bios).
Strange, score doesn't respond very well when increasing corespeed. Only a few points more in OC mode.
http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...r121/63294.jpg
got a bit more play I think
i wonder if those speeds are stable though ?
I can put 877/999 and run 3dmark . but when i loop 3dmark 06 (only gpu tests NOT cpu) for several hours it craps out or hangs .
Prob not stable chap.
hey guys, been following ur thread for some time now. picked up my Powercolor from ebuyer about a month ago.
i ve had no luck with overclocking, using overdrive i got clocks of 853/999. testing this with 3dmark for a number of hours with no problems. also tested it with the COD4 demo and that ran perfect too. but when i ran GRAW2 which i play alot, it crashed within seconds of running the map, happened again and again. i wiped and reinstalled everything, now overdrive constantly crashes and won't give me a clock. annoying. but the system is running well. seems i can overclock on the Crysis demo too.
i am a little worried about a problem that occurs now and then, i have my computer hooked up to my TV using the HDMi cable. certain times when after start up the screen will flicker and cut out constantly , but if i restart it the porblem seems to go away, is this the start of something bad??? should i be concerned??
ATi tool won't even load and keeps crashing on my media center XP, but i use RivaTuner instead, dunno if anyone else has that problem with it.
Whiteout artifacts over 775 for me as well. 785 and over gave me thin lines (skinny triangles) around Ruby's face. I think it was so heavily optimized for the 29xx series that it isn't sync'ing properly or something over 775. I mean if something was overheating, the fan would surely start spinning faster right?
This reminds me of the Crysis artifacts that I nailed down to the shadows setting. I'm not such an eXTREEEEEEEM OC'er, but logically if artifacts appear and dissapear instantly when changing a setting, and the card has just gone from idle to load, it is not overheating. Also, if it is only happening in one app, it has to be software. Even if we agree that Crysis/Whiteout put more strain than something like Oblivion, being able to play Oblivion for hours without problems vs. instant artifacts in the other 2, must be software.
If someone on here knows of another hardware issue that can cause artifacts, I'd welcome the knowledge. I would think that something like overloading resistors would cause much more serious issues than these.
If anyone has done this successfully, I would love to know how to change the automatic fan settings in either/both XP/Vista x86.
KDC, I think you will find few ppl here that can claim stability at above 820 on the core, and fewer still with stock cooling.
I can't comment on your other issues, so maybe someone else here can help you out. You are probably the only one on here using the HDMI right now.
Not totally ot...rendered with my 2900 Pro.
my ms paint skills are scary at least :D
I had the problem curiously enough with version 0.26 that is downloadable from techpowerup. I am using 0.27 as you can see from my earlier post and all is fine but before it would hang when loading.
I am thinking of only using it until my 8 pin cable comes and then moving to Overdrive. Do you guys think it is better than ATITool?
And happy Halloween to u too WrigleyVillain :D
Behave!
Just for reference, can I flash from a CD? As my USB key/mobo combination just will not work together.
I seriously doubt that, whiteout and crysis are very new, and use DX10, and they are most likely using features on the GPU that nothing else does so far, and these probably cause the artifacting when overclocked. If you don't see them at stock speeds but you do see them overclocked, you can bet your bottom dollar it's not a software problem.
Hey guys, I find the default fan speed (2D) to be a nuisance. Is it safe to turn it down to a quieter level? Or could you give me some safe temperature guidelines to work with?
Thanks!
Hey guys :) Finally I got my Sapphire 2900Pro 512mb gddr3 today and I'm lovin' it :) 25min testing for artifacts with atitool and everything is ok at 847/2034
Anyone else seeing flickering textures in Oblivion? I get them in the same areas no matter what res or settings I use. Even tried loading a saved game from before I got to a certain area, same issue. Also getting some places where textures are not flush with each other.
If anyone wants to help, try this: Enter the city Bravil from the north gate and walk strait about 20 paces until the first building is to your right. Look at the side of that outside stairwell. Do you get flickering?
Also, in TF2 I'm seeing some flickering on the smoke in the background of the level 2Fort.
Anyone getting this stuff?
This happens @ stock.
Thanks.
