The main is on the voltages, enable the clockgen overvoltage, in my case 1.000V is a totally different story when FSB from 490FSB, CPU PLL and NB by trials, I think each CPU will be different to react.:yepp:

Here is a shot with over 12hrs stable folding temps. @ 3.6g,
PWM settled down some with a added fan blowing in that area. Was 58/60c.
I can do some SuperPi at 4Ghz but being stable enough to do a 3DMark @ 3.9GHz, it seemed like a better OC to post.:D
What's the VID for your L723A930 CPU Icer?
As stated Here, my VID is 1.30
mine is 1.150v. One of the lowest ive seen.

Just thought I'd post what will be my 24/7 settings. It's also prime stable at 3.6 with 1.42 vcore, but I like the lower temps at 3.5.

I finally got my system stable, turns out it was the VTT and DQ settings that was making my memory unstable. I learned a lot by reading Freecableguys writeup on VTT :)
My safest clock for my G0 is 3420Mhz (380 x 9), @ +125mv (or around 1.392V according to cpuz - which drops to 1.360V soon as i start priming). Load temps reach 70°C according to smart guardian and coretemp. memory is running at ~950Mhz w/ 4:5 divider (not 1:1).
i guess this is my final cpu speed, unless i lap the heatsink or IHS.
what settings you have on VTT and DQ??
i have same board (dfi dark) and with all settings auto ( only Vcore and Vdim manual) i get 3.6ghz , FULL temps around 54º (water)
http://img501.imageshack.us/img501/4...psprimevc5.jpg
lol, i was just gonna ask you what your temps were after priming for a few hours, since the pic was taken only after <1min of priming... but now that i am quoting you i see that is says "FULL temp areound 54° (water)
the 'water' part doesn't show in your post above, at least for me.. until i quoted.. weird.
EDIT: now i see the 'water'... i swear it wasn't there before lol
you dont need too much volts to boot at 3.6ghz (about 1.35v) , but Prime or OCCT stable you need more volts ( around 1.43v , depend on VID , there is TWO L726A951 with diferent VID >> 1.285v and 1.3000v)
BTW: 3200mhz only need 1.28v ! temps (after 13 minuts ) Around 46c

My VID is 1.2875.
Looks like you got a sweet chip there.
DQ is currently set to 7 (+30mV), and VTT is 2 setting higher then stock. I was just playing with DQ, and tried every setting up from 4, then started to mess with VTT - then it was all stable. This was prior to knowing what the settings are really doing. After reading Freecableguy's write up on VTT, and learning how it all works. I'm gonna redo it all, cause i may be able to stabilze it all with less voltage.
i suggest you read Freecableguy's guides for P965-S and the article he has on VTT. as these settings kinda vary with all motherboards and components.
guide:

VTT article:
http://www.thetechrepository.com/showthread.php?t=87
Priming @ 3.42ghz right now 1.39v(1.34-1.36 after vdrop). VTT and GTL @ stock.
Diverge: I'm thinking maybe the RAM is the key factor here(or maybe a different revision of the motherboard). I'll post a screen if i get it 8 hours stable.
Just got my replacement G0 in, glad to post iam in the 3.6ghz club now. Goin on 2 hours small fft's. PWM is hot as haides, case open, 120 fan blowing directly over it. ohwell its like 115F here in vegas, and my AC is having a bad day.

I tried to run at 460x8, but prime would either fail or system hangs. same
for 390x9. While ive ran this with a e6600@460x7 for hours on end no problem. I think 4gb is holding me back at higher multis. Iam happy now though 3.6 was my goal.
Nice! What's the batch code and VID for your chip?
2msuper pi &32m pi. I just went for sucide, threw vcore to 1.6 in bios, reading 1.53 with crap droop. Didnt wanna risk stress testing in this ungodly weather maybe this winter when its cold, or if i get a waterkeg in a few weeks.

fresh off the assembly line!
perfeclty stable, still set to this clock. Ill do some gaming for a while, but iam conservtive so will set it back to 3.6 for 24/7. 1.53~ is a bit imo for air
very impressed, iam glad i rma'ed that last chip. To bad for the restocking fee though=/
oh and yeah i did the heatpipe mod, small gain. i may remount the heatpipes in a few days..temps arent much diffrent..

The damn thing does not like high FSB for anything. But will do benches @ 4Ghz+!!!
it ran 5 mins under prime, then failed small ff
soon or later ill get it stable at 3.8.
i was able to play stalker for about 40 mins maxed out, frames jumped 9fps @4ghz..it fronze though.
stable enough to surf the net or do emails and maybe a few other things until the more demanding challenges upon memory and cpu...right?
jus got my chip i think its a L721 are those any good
My setup:
CPU: Q6600 G0 Vid: 1.2625 L729A312.
Motherboard: GIGABYTE P35-DS3P.
Cooling: Water cooling (Swiftech H20-220 Apex Ultra).
RAM: Geil 2X1G PC6400 (5 5 5 15).
Room temp: ~16C
Idle temp: ~22C-23C (idle pic shows some activities on core 0 and core 3)
Load temp: ~48C-50C
First I installed the Q6600 in an ASUS P5B DLX, the max fsb I could get with it was 401 MHz So I decided to get a P35 motherboard to see how far I can get from this chip. The chip can do over 4GHZ easy, but the RAM is holding me back. If I can find a Vdrop mod I can run this chip stable at 3800 @1.4 V.
the first image is idle temp (room temp ~16) and the second image is full load temp. Notice the Vdrop (from 1.424 to 1.392 [1.4625 in BIOS]) :(

Here's mine so far. I love this chip! I don't have any of the Orthos or Prime stuff, but what I can say is that I crushed the Movie '300' using DVD Shrink (just the actual movie, not the extras) in 2 mins, 57 sec. without a restart, as well as 2 other movies...This is with the temps rocking ~100F outside in Southern California here (AC is on inside, but house temp is 80F right now).....
WOW!
Hopefully this holds and it doesn't crash right in the middle of saving a file or a huge upload/download!
Hope this helps people. I will be glad to share my semi-tuned BIOS settings if you all want.
Thanks!
jeeka.
hmm, i've got a 1.25 VID G0. Compared to what i've seen, seems pretty low... i wonder if that's good or bad. I have to do that TR U120 Extreme mod before I push it.
I would have to agree. There is a user over @ DFI Club and he's got the very same batch as i do but his VID is a tad lower. He's having trouble getting past 2.7ghz with that one. For sure it seems not all 'G0' are good overclockers.
Well they run allot cooler at the very least:)
Anyone out there with high FSB issues aside the folks with RAID enabled? Specifically people with VID: 1.3000v
3.6 GHz (400 x 9) @ 1.4 volts (BOIS)/1.368 (CPUz). 3+ hours Prime95 stable.
I got 3.8 @ 1.5 volts (BOIS) which passed the 32M SuperPi test, but failed after about 5 minutes of prime. I suspect if I was a little insane and tried upping the voltage even more, I'd get it stable. But that wouldn't work for 24/7 use so I'm stuck here at a measly 1.2 GHz OC :p
some more results 4m pi runs, 4ghz 4-4-4-15 now on memory instead of 5-5-5.
4 instance, i was able to clear 4m with 1.55 droop, 1.63~ set in bios..I might go for 8m run next
http://www.imagehosting.com/out.php/...uperpi4ghz.jpg
At that vcore prime passes for more than 5 mins but gets over 75c, HAIDES. under cold or water i bet this chip would rock, unfornately iam to broke to either
Here's my initial result:

Anyone else with this stepping? What are your results?
MCH timings are loose as hell and the bandwidth simply runs out with four threads.
DDR3 with correct timings can easily run out DDR2 in bandwidth and latency.
Q6600 makes my head ache since it is both multiplier and FSB limited.
The board (P5K3) cannot run that FSB with 1:2 divider so either it is lower CPU frequency (equals lower FSB) or lower dram frequency. In this case lower dram frequency hurts much more.
With 3.8GHz clocks the time was 16:26 so the decreased memory bandwidth hurts like hell.
Finally had the balls to do 3.6GHz air cooled on my Q6600. :)

getting rid of the d975xbx2, what would be great mb to run with my q66oo go!!!!!!!!!!! thanks
yea,my other xbx2 was a great board until i put 4g of ram in it and it killed the mb.then they sent me this bs of a board and its killed 2g of ram and cant overclock past3.0 that sucks.thanks
yea, i had great board before i had to rma it. this bs of board they sent me has all ready fried 1g of ram and will not overclocl past 3.0. this sucks
sorry about the double post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Was only trying to get a sub 12sec score.
The chip, definately has it in itself, to get to 4.3Ghz.
Theres a Typo in that Notepad file, didnt notice it :(. Its on an Abit IP-35 Pro. Not Asus P5B Deluxe.
Btw, vCore was ~1.58 real.
Well, after seeing how crazy some of you guys are with the volts, I tried again. 4.0 baby! :p 4.2 wouldn't boot regardless of voltage, and this one failed after about 5 minutes of Prime95, but it's still cool regardless!

So. Prior to this I was running an E6400 at 8x375 and it ran real nice that way. I got the ram down to 4-4-3-4 running 1:1 with 2.0V, so I thought I'd aim for 3.375 GHz with the quad.
Not so easy. I can't seem to take it over ~320MHz and get into windows. I've tried 333MHz with a bit over 1.4V with no luck - it'll restart while windows is loading or as soon as I log in. I'm in windows at 9x310 right now and its running real nice IMO, idling at 36-37 (one core shows about 6 degrees lower at 30), I believe my voltage is set at 1.325 in the BIOS which I'll verify along with the rest of my bios settings before doing anything else. Load temps stay decent as well, low to mid 50's. The parts could probably use a lapping but I'm not really into that at this point.
So, motherboard issue? My brother has a P35-DS3R with the E6400 which runs well and I'm thinking about dropping the quad in there later tonight just to see what it does.
A poor windows install maybe? It does take a considerable amount of time to load up but it runs well at a lower fsb.
I'm going to try taking this to 6x375 to see what it does, if that doesn't go well then I'm going to put it in the P35. Anyone heard of this type of issue?
Whitebrow... You have the very same batch as i do. What is the VID on your chip? Use core temp v.095 to find this if your not familiar.
Is all you have tried is increasing CPU voltage?
My VID is 1.2875V. All I've really tried is increasing the voltage, but I can't even get into windows at 3GHz. I was going to play with it more tonight but I'm putting it off until tomorrow afternoon. I'm fairly new to this, I just built the rig initially in January. Are there other things I can try? My plan is to take note of all the Bios settings, try getting it at 6x333 and higher if I can, and then put it into the P35-DS3R.
I know that my ram is stable at 4-4-3-4 375MHz (750) 2.1V, and I've gotten into windows with the FSB up near 500 with an E6400. This is not with the new 1601 bios though. I don't believe I can downgrade any more than the version previous to this one without losing G0 support.
^^ Set the NB voltage to the highest you can.
I need atleast 1.55v on my P5B Deluxe, to get to 350FSB and above.
Nice - I'm doing about the same. 446 x 9 - 4.014ghz @ 1.47vcore (1.48 bios). My cooling seems to have hit its niche and seems pretty stable at -42 idle and -39 full load (evap temps) but I think I'm going to try some suicide runs at high volts because this chip just feels like it could do much more.
I gotta ask what your other votlages are to the guys who are posting 3.4ghz+ with low volts. I can't get my quad to 3.4 without some crazy voltage. To get to 3.6ghz it needs at LEAST 1.50v in bios. Thats around 1.46v real under load. What are you cpu vtt and mch voltages?
I also can't drop down the vcore even if I drop downt he multi. Gotta keept ehs ame vcore to be stable at the same fsb. What in the world am I doing wrong? My quad is a L724A760.
I have the NB watercooled, and it has 1.55v - 1.70v being thrown at it. I removed 2 gbs of ram to see if it will help at all.
My SB is only at 1.10v from 1.05v. Do I need to ramp up the SB in order to be able to get a lower vcore?
I have just bought a Q6600 g0 but I do not be able overclocked to but of 3ghz, not itself if be the motherboad.
the temps are very well, i have a lapped TR 120 Ultra xtreme.
my motherboard its a Asus p5w dh deluxe
right now I'm running 1:1 with the fsb at 2.22volts real to the dimms. I am already at the slowest setting. My temps are really good with an 18'c ambient I'm loading at around 60'c with 1.45v real. I really don't know whats holdin me back? Could it be the mobo at all?
Thanks for the help! I'll keep pluggin away.
Ok so ive ready through most of the posts and am still not convinced that G0 is any better than B3...still I went ahead and bought a Q6600 SACR G0 today to compare them.
My B3 maxed out on SS at 4.3ghz... http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=224147
and does 63c 4 cores folding on air at 3.3ghz and 1.40vCore hopefully the G0 will be better...
Here's one of mine ...... Small FFT's. Yet to try lower vcore.

Simple watercooling on P5K-DLX :)
Anybody have an L721A814 stepping?
How's it clocking for you? I think my XBX2 is the limiting factor in my overclock. I sure hope I didn't get a bum stepping. Seems to be my luck, though.
My second tank guys G0 arrived today. It is the exact same batch as my first tank guys G0. L724A760. Both do the exact same (3700mhz 1.45v) on my EVGA 680i. Same temps and all. Identical twins!!!! :)
How many B3's have you seen @ 3600-4000mhz on air? Not only do they OC better, they are a lot cooler. Some people don't believe that they are actually cooler, they think it's an issue that needs to be addressed with core temp or whatever. Some people say ad 15c to the temps and that would be the correct temp. My radiator fans are blowing towards me and i can tell you the G0's are cooler. With my B3 the air was so warm it was hard to even sit next to it. With the G0 i hardly notice the air.
Got nowhere fast this evening - Anything above 450 FSB and it won't get into windows and anything over 465 won't post at all. Voltage was not an issue as I went all the way up to 1.65v but nothing would nudge it over 450. I think I may be at the board limit - This is one of the original first edition P5B DLX's and it already has some "bending" issues when tightening the evap (I have to get it JUST right or it won't post) so I guess it's time for a P5K.
hmmmm seems like the 724's are good chips, my 723 just aint cutting it.
at first i thought it was the board, now i think it might be the chip?
all i know is not everyone that gets/has a GO is hitting 3.6 and above on air.
I have the very same batch. I'm stuck @ 3.4ghz with 1.4v right now (8x425). I'm curios if i were to drop this in a 680i or P35 based board that i would be able to get higher on lower volts.
Not everyone. Right now temps are prohibiting me from getting higher then where i'm at now. 3.5ghz @ 1.43 volts i was getting past the 70C mark. A little too hot for my liking. This is using a Scythe Infinity with 2x120mm fans in push/pull config. @ 1.4v the max temp is 64C under prime load. I guess i need to look into Scythe mounting mod. I'm currently using the crappy standard 775 socket retention push pin's that came with it. This weekend i will go to the hardware store to get what i need for the bolt through method.
Well you're doing better then me already. I needed +150mv to get the very same speed. I don't think lapping is going to net significantly lower temps on these as i can tell you that the IHS on these appear to be very flat. I did the razor blade test on mine before installing and it was indeed flat.
What are you using to test stability? I don't consider it stable until i pass 8 hours of prime. While we're at it what kind of load temps are you getting with your tuniq? I'm curios to see how it does compared to the Infinity.
723A825 here, pretty decent chip. Not all are golden, just most that post have higher clocks. Nobody want to say they can't hit 3.6  My ihs was very flat also, and I'm cooling with a lapped ultra extreme. Been running f@h for 3-4 days now. Temps are 47-55c, ambient around 70f.
I'll probably give lapping a try regardless. I never really sell my pc parts anyway (too lazy lol), so i'm not really worried about it's resell_ability, ect.
my tests for checking stability are prime small FFTs, for around 8 hours (over night when i am sleeping). My load temps were around 70°C last time i ran prime for ~8hrs.. they might have gone down some sine my AS5 never cured in my previous 8hr run. i also did OCCT stability test.
i've gotten my cpu to prime at 3.5GHZ, but my temps started running away to like 90°C after like 5 mins.. they were kinda constant for the first 3-4 mins, then started to take off, so i shut it down. i think heat is my main problem keeping me from going over 3.4ghz.
edit: i'm gonna run another 8+ hr session of prime, so i'll see if my temps dropped any (although i haven't really turned my pc off much so the AS5 sets correctly). I'm just checking to see if it's stable with C1E enabled so i can save some power...lol
