using wat settings ?
vcore, ram voltage, nb vcore?
vcore 1.35/1.45 should do. Ram 2.0 or 2.1v and auto for the rest to start with. Mem timings 4-4-4-12 or set by spd.
Does the P5B-D have a working crash recovery like other Asus boards? You know when you choose too aggressive an OC at reboot it says Overclocking failed press F1 to enter setup.
It doesn't seen to work on my P5B-D, I've had to clear CMOS every time I hang the board up

just switch off your PSU and switch it back on

Humm.. turning off the PSU's switch has worked a few times not all the time thow, but after 520fsb it never seems to kick in. Clear CMOS is the only thing that gets me back in the action.Quote:

Anyone who got hold of a P5B Deluxe with P965 C2-stepping?
Another question: My good old P5WD2 Premium had the restart problem where the board would completely switch off on a windows restart and then switches back on after a few seconds. This happened from FSB 243 and upwards.
I heard the P5B shows this behavior even on a cold boot when overclocked. Is that true or is this limited to warm restarts?
Set manually dram speed to whatever but not Auto ( leave it below 800)Quote:

I think it was Anandtech who reported that 708 is beta and 709 will be the official for crossfire support.
You need more vcore. try 1.5V... 1.55V if you really want to have fun. and 1.6V if you want to live dangerously. I run 1.575 24/7 on water. 1.675 for benching.Quote:

Try to figure out your Ram's Max FSB it can reached by setting the ram Vdim to 2.4 and use a divder while adjust the FSB higher.

Hey guys i have tried almost everything all Bios's, Almost all configs in the voltage/fsb selection screen, almost all memory timings (including spd), ive tried clock gen up higher, and i have tried all multi's, and i cant get my 6700 step 5 over 3.8 stable! i have even replaced the NB cooler to see if that helped. I have seen some good results that people have with a 6700 on a p5b-d but i have also seen alot of people having good luck with the p5w-dh... I really want to get a good clock with the 10x multi so does anyone else have some insite into this? or should i give the p5w a shot?
I know this processor is atleast capable of 4ghz on water, it has been tested before!
i know its not my gskill Hz holding me back because i can memtest at 3.95 but not boot into windows, and i get no errors!
so i am not really sure what other steps to take to try and get this mobo to work for me.

WOOHOO, FINALLY XS IS UP!
ANYWAYS, I'm having a HUGE issue setting up the RAID on this board.
Specs:
CPU: Core 2 Duo E6600
MB: P5B Deluxe/WiFi-AP
VID: eVGA e-GeForce 7950GT KO 512MB
RAM: Kingston HyperX 2GB PC2-6400 Low Latency Dual Channel DDR2 Kit (2 x 1GB, NVIDIA SLI-Ready)
HD: 4x SATA Seagate 7200.10, 320GB
I've gotten the system setup, Windows installed on a single drive..
I have no issues getting the RAID working and creating the array, I nlite'd the ICH6R drivers at first and realized they were the wrong ones (read the 8 in the intel bios as a 6), replaced with the ICH8R drivers, reburned XP, bam, 1.2 TB disk discovered. My copy of XP is mostly unattended, it does the first reboot, comes up, installs drivers, components, asks for username / owner info / network info, does its shtuff, and on the 3rd XP reboot (where you should get the OOBE or Welcome for corp) it has a STOP (BSOD) error (that I cannot read due to the fact the system immediately reboots after).
I can not boot in to any safe mode, and the XP logo DOES come up and do half the boot - when going into safe mode, I see all the textmode drivers load just fine (right up to MUP.SYS I believe, it crashes after, but I also thought this was the last driver a fresh XP normally loads).
I tried installing on the RAID0 a couple of times before just doing the single drive, once I got the single drive installation running, I updated the BIOS realizing that the first ICH8R drivers I nlite'd were version 6.1 and before my BIOS update the drivers were 6.0.
Realizing this, I had a huge glimpse of hope: I had just updated the BIOS version to the same drivers I put on the CD. Re-install again on a RAID, wait, wait, smoke some ;), wait some more, and.. SAME PROBLEM.
I never tried ASUS's drivers, I went straight to intel, however, after I updated my BIOS I realized the only drivers I could find on the site were the 6.0 drivers.
I just turned it on to get the BIOS version, and some how it thinks my drives are configured to AHCI, that I have a USB Mass Storage Device, my LAN cable failed (this part is actually probably true, haha), and that my overclocking failed (I have not touched the OC settings yet at ALL!)
Odd, anyhow, BIOS ver is 0614.
This seems to kind of boil down to this though, it seems like everyone's getting their RAID to work using the F6 method not silpstreaming/nliting, as far as I know, it shouldn't matter, maybe I'm using the wrong drivers somehow? I swear the version/chipset does match.
Could someone send me the drivers they used to install their RAID with? I will try nliting them, and if I get the same issue again, I will dig up a floppy and try the F6 method, if that doesn't work, perhaps I should swap the board and try a new P5B-D/WIFIAP..?
thanks..!
Some more, less important question's while I'm at it:
Fan included for one of the chipsets, worth it? My Scythe Ninja is in the way sorta..
Is it worth it to AS5 all the sinks? on my vid too even?
werd
SLI - possible at even 2x8x? I thought I read something about it with some work but..
With my P5B dlx, if i set my FSB up to 400 i have around 7300 in memory bandwith with sandra. if i set to 401 and up to 410 for example, i have around 6800.....so puting FSB above 401 because under 400 is bad, for me it's not good. more than 450 is ok.
Has anyone still got a copy of bios 0507 ??
Please I lost it :(
Anyone heard something when 0709 will come out...
0706 is ok
Anything newer than 706 yet?
wouldn't the bios detect that? I mean, everything boots up fine, and the windows setup is still in progress when this happens (text mode). :confused:Quote:

Last thing: Dont know if the drivers are screwing it up, so I will download the new RAID drivers. Can I install windows normally, and THEN change the volume to RAID in windows? I recall something like that was possible
YES!...increase your ram voltage if you are overclocking...i normally set mine to at least 2.1v when doing a setup of windows even if i am not overclocking..
and you are right about the cpu, it will stop at the initial post screen if one pin is not making proper contact.

Alright, first off i have the damn "ghost boot" (starts then shuts off, then starts again). Next, even at STOCK everything, Orthos still FAILS within 50 minutes. After that, i have the FSB hops - 300FSB is stable, 333FSB needs MAXed volts for all items, 334-399 is unbootable, 400 is perfectly stable, with all stock volts. I can't pass 450FSB.
With the OC in place, Orthos doesn't even last 10 seconds, BUT. Single stability tests will go for HOURS if designated to one core or another (single prime, single s-pi etc), but if a SECOND test is run on the other core, failure in seconds. The mobo IS inverted, but i have the squirrel cage on the PWM, and an 80mm over the NB. What in the hells is going on with this mobo? I mean, if it can work for a daily driver with NO data corruption etc, yet fail stability tests...
Edit: CPU is WC'ed with a Weapon 302, dual SD Aces feeding off that, a MCP600 pushing the H20, and an Apogee on the chip. About 55c full load

I think I may have screwed up royally!!! So I was chaning the BIOS and the PC just froze (in BIOS). it then rebooted by itself and I smelled something burning....:(
Now, it just keeps recycling power back and forth after 3 secs, and it wont even reach POST (nothing appears on the screen)...just recycles power!!
I tried to remove the battery and reset the BIOS jumper, but nothing...
is there a way to recover, or you guys think I blew the mobo up? could the RAM be blown???
i doubt you did anything wrong...something was defective...possibly the board, ram or VC...the board you are using now can it use the ram or VC to check them for proper operation???
if i were a betting person, i would bet that the board is fried...meaning bios chip or some small part...my foxconn board burned up on me while on the bench...the mosfet on that board burned a hole right through the middle..it was quite spectacular fire; flames and smoke!

I've always been mighty frightened of upping northbridge voltage. well, I guess now i have a reason to be!
Congrats! I can't get mine up to 400x9, as I get failed Orthos and random restarts. I haven't tried upping all the voltages yet...What are your Vcore, Vdimm, Vfsb, Vnb and Vsb? What about memory timings?Quote:

Memory is 4-4-4-12 (4GB DDR2-800mhz GeIL). They'll do so much more though with ease.
Temps are 40°c CPU and 31°c MOBO.
