hey guys i just recently got one of these boards and i came from a P5Q, so im a bit of a noob to the new bios settings :D
im currently running these settings at 3.6ghz
CPU RATIO 20
BCLK 180
CPU v1.25
DRAM v1.58
QPI/DRAM 1.20
CPU?PLL 1.80
my only problem is the ram is now at 1443mhz (i have 6gb Corsair Doms 1600), what should i adjust to get these to the proper 1600. im guessing my QPI and dram voltage should be adjusted...thanks for any help, and if anyone has any other suggestions for me, let me know! im also using the 0704 bios.

Go for 4 or 4.2, it is not very hard and your memory frequency will be about right as well. :yepp:
but can i hit that on air cooling? how should i adjust my settings to hit 4.0, id be happy with 3.6-3.8. but i def want the proper ram frequencies

Regarding settings... meh, I have a different board... You'd need to use 21x multi (turbo mode), 1.3-1.35V VTT, QPI PLL and IOH vCore 1.2-1.3V (whatever they are called for this board), vCore - depends on your chip, 1.15-1.25 or so.

My P6T deluxe V2 is here, with i7 920 D0 FPO/Batch 3937A758. However I've to wait my Noctua Cooler that arrives in a few days. By default the P6T Deluxe V2 set Vcore at 1,34-1,35V on auto setting, is this correct?. I had to set it to a lower value manually. Now testing 3600 (200x18) Vcore=1,15V, QPI=3600, DDR3=1600 UClk=3200, other settings on auto. Stable at 200x16 and 200x17 (Prime+LinX). Stock cooling for now, max temp 75-80º.

on idle my temps are floating around 40-44

Depends on if you have power saving tech enabled. It's not terrible in any case.
But it's your load temps that matter. :up:
in windows 7 i have Power Saving, and its set to Active. is that what you mean?

In general the 20x multiplier should be avoided because many other related signals are running in sync then and cause huge crosstalk. Most people are going for 19x200, or 21x200.
The only wondering I have about the 21x multiplier and keeping speedstep ENABLED, would it hit 20x at times? My idea is to keep using speedstep since that saves me quite some power, and IMHO the advantage of a somewhat faster system isn't worth it compared to the savings. 3800 is just fine IMHO.

Oh, about heat. 45 nm chips happily run at air cooling up to roughly 4 GHz. The only time when it gets uncomfortably hot with my Zalman 9900 is when I am running any flavor of Intel Burntest ex. Linx. My core hits up to 98C then

i7 Turbo shows my cpu at a constant 20.9+ to 21
so other then maybe suggesting going 19x200, everything looking ok for me?

I am running @ 20x multi without any problem, 100% linx stable:)
For me, hitting 200BCLK is the problem, or put it right, i can run BCLK 200MHz with multi 19x or 18x... just cant make it stable... no matter how much voltage I apply on cpu (up to 1.3V) or VTT (1.4250V), its just lock up under linx.
So it is for you to test it out whats the best and achievable setting on ur rig.
Still, if u lucky 19*200 should not be a problem.:up:
I took a look on the last 20 pages and did a search for 960. No one posted about good settings to get it over 4Ghz.:(
I just finished assembling my PC with it and this board, and using Kingston HyperX T1 2000Mhz(3x2gb)
Any tips on where to start? I don't really have a goal, I want to overclock as far as I can with stability and HT on:) I'm on aircooling(coolermaster V8)
I guess the lack of 960 settings here is because the overclocking capabilities of a CPU are widely determined by their stepping and their individual tolerances rather than the model number. Hence most people just go with the much cheaper 920s. In general you can just try the same settings that 920 users figured for them. Your only advantage over us 920 owners is a few extra multiplier notches that allow for lower BCLKs if you really need them.
Overall the needed voltage and structure sizes of your CPU determines how hot your chip gets and thus the limits of aircooling. All our CPUs are 45 nm ones that can potentially go up to 4.2 GHz, and about all of them to at least 3.8 GHz. A D0 step should tendentially go higher than a C0 like mine...

WTF?! i just placed a wc setup in my system, and the cpu started throttling again, with bios 0001!?!?
@ Unclewebb, you have any ideas? could it be because i removed the cpu, and placed it back in? it gave the "new cpu installed message"... already tried placing it to sleep and back on, but still the same.. what the hell is wrong with this bios?!

this bios is weird, but i can get very stable oc's with it, more than the 0006.
There is so much stuff to mess with. By only adjusting the CPU Voltage to 1.28V( CPUZ always show about 0.03 more, no matter what's the voltage), PLL to 1.9V, QPI to 1.3 and DRAM to 1.66, and adjusting DRAM frequency to the lowest just to be sure it's not the problem, and the multiplier to 21x, the maximum BLK I was able to get was a ridiculous 163, and that's the max it will boot, it's probably not prime95 stable, more than that and the PC won't boot.
What else should I be changing? Also I'm not sure the multiplier I should be using on I7 960 ES D0.
Oh, and I'm using the 0006 Bios.
EDIT: Messing with the multipliers, I was able to get to 4048 by using a 25x multiplier and 162 at BLCK. It appears to be a better way to overclock it.
why are you using pll at 1.90?? i always use at 1.82v, is more than enough, even for my 4.4ghz....
That was lower than the voltage recommended on the bit-tech guide for this board and an I7 920, they recommended 1.96v.But anyway, that can't be why I'm unable to go to higher than 163 on the BLCK... But I will use a lower voltage on it from now on.
does using 191x21 will also cause turbo throttling?
Hey folks, I'm hitting a wall at 3.2 GHz on my i7 920 (C0). These are my current settings:
BCLK: 160
Multi: 20
DRAM Frequency: 1603 MHz
CPU Volt: 1.35
PLL: 1.96
Uncore: 1.35
DRAM: 1.66
P6T Deluxe V2 (0610 BIOS)
i7 920 (C0, lapped)
Corsair 6GB (3x2GB) Dominator 1600 8-8-8-24-2T
Thermalright 120 Extreme (lapped) + Scythe 120mm push/pull
Two questions:
1. 3.2 GHz is Prime stable at the above settings, but won't even boot if I try to raise the BCLK and keep the timings the same. Do I have a lousy chip or am I missing something?
2. I was Prime stable at 3.4 GHz but with the DRAM frequency lowered to 1443 MHz. Is lower DRAM frequency a smart trade-off for higher CPU clocks?

In the memory tab, ignore the 639 MHz DRAM frequency, I didn't select the right frequency when I went back to the 3.2 GHz settings that worked. Usually it's 800 MHz.

Sorry to report that I do not spot anything grossly wrong with your Screenshots or reported voltages... However, the CPU PLL does appear a bit high for this frequency.

A note of caution, ASUS & EVGA use different labels for the same BIOS functions. You need to read a bit between the lines to get an apples to apples analysis...
