For starters set
UCLK to 3600ish not auto
Set QPI to lowest mhz (not auto or slow mode)
Try more ram voltage 1.74?
Try higher Trfc like 82
Try looseing RTL like 65 or so
Try Extreme OC mode 1 (supposed to help ram and uncore)
Can try lower cpu pll to 1.6's
Try bumping up ich voltage to 1.25 or so

I wouldnt run 1.6vtt, I dont dare go that high on ln2 :eek:

also i found some forum posts, in Russian though... a few A3E users with GEIL GU312GB2000C8HC memory... only down side is i can't seem to find a supplier for it lol

@ Splave - that 1.74v on the memory... is that going to be safe to run 24/7? i don't want to end up frying a gold nugget CPU (980x) right after getting :confused:

alright, i'm convinced that my issue is one of the following...

1 - the memory just wont go higher than 1800
2 - my 980x is just crap and runs HOT
3 - either HWmonitor or PC Probe II is lieing about CPU temp, PC Probe II is seeing roughly 10-12*c higher than HWmonitor...
4 - my water block for the CPU is prooving to be restrictive and not efficiently cooling the 980x properly. water block is a Koolance CPU-360.
5 - again, back to the memory, being it's not designed to be in a hex channel setup it's too much of a load to the memory controller on the 980x for anything over 1800mhz (doubtful but testing at low CPU clocking with high mem clocking at 1900, CPU becomes unstable even at stock clocking. i'll take out 3 sticks tomorrow and see if tbey'll push further, if they do then this and issue 1 are the sources.)

1.74v is fine you will not kill anything, i have to disagree with zsams nothing personal but 1.74v is not high.
you most certainly wont hurt your cpu :)
If the rams are that bad they die at 1.74v then you dont want them anyway.

IMO, your IOH voltage is too low for breaking 222 BCLK without Slow Mode. I used over 1.3V

Why don't you try your memory sticks 3 by 3, the way they came packed. I would even test them 1 by 1 (label them first with numbered stickers).

Did you try , Core Temp, Realtemp or everest?

nope... then again which one should i use that's ACTUALLY acurate?

why look at 6-7 different temp meters if none of them are actually acurate... how about one that actually reads BIOS temp? and how about ROG connect being able to show more than 57.5*c cause it wont show me any higher, the zoom out on the chart wont move.

alright i'll give it a shot.

and ya i've reseated the heatsink 4 times already thinking the thermal paste shifted or there was too much or too little. nothing's really changed.

I dont normally run ram above 1.65v even for benching. I have 2 kits of hypers, for daily use what would a safe maximum voltage be to try and get them to run at the rated speed {2000mhz) without killing the ram? I am less concerned about damage to the chip, it is not golden and they are cheap at microcenter.

If people run CPU's at 1.35-1.45V (8-16% increase from default), IMC's at same 1.35-1.45V (12.5-20.8% increase), why not memory at 1.75-1.8V (only 6-9% increase)?

Usually there is no significant increase in overclockability above 1.7-1.75, but if your memory can't run at rated speed, why would you care if you kill it? RMA it.

I ran my Mushkin Redlines on DFI UT X58 at 1.71V 24/7 until I bought R3E and now memory works like a charm at 1.65V (rated, overclocked, whatever...)

i got 4 sets of hypers and boy do the newer ones get hot even @ 1.65v
i run my ram 1.65-1.71v 24/7
over that is suicide mission:rofl:
i got some d9jnm and i wouldnt be worried with em @ 2.0
every set of memory i had that didnt run nice went to ram heaven;)
psc needs to be burned in to run nice;) i ran mine @ 1,74v on rex + memtested em for 8 hours n now they run way better

Does Disabling Hardware Prefetcher under CPU Configuration impairs your memory bandwidth?

confirmed ;] also seems to afects CPU L3 cache latency.
