I just got this board to overclock a Q6600 that I had on MSI board. It was only mildly overclocked on the MSI to 2.7 ghz. I have been able to get my Q6600 to run stable at 3.4 ghz on the IP-35 Pro. However, I decided to only overclock to 3.2. I am a bit concerned about my temperatures. On idle, the cores run around 44-45 C according to Core Temp, and according to uGuru, the CPU is around 57-58 C. I let my PC run Prime95 overnight and had no errors. I forgot to run Core Temp while running Prime95 overnight
I decided to run Prime95 for a few minutes to see what happens. In approximately 5 minutes of Prime95, I got around 71-73 C per core on Core Temp. On uGuru, my temperature reached 81-83 C. Is this too hot for this processor? I have a CoolerMaster GeminII with two 120 mm Yate-Loon fans on it. I'm also using Arctic Cooling MX-2 as my TIM. I have access to a Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro and a CoolerMaster Hyper TX2. Would either one of these be better than the Geminii?
flash back to bios 14, the 16 has issues with the Q6600 and Q6700, i had the same problem, i re-seated my HSF like 4x , and by the 4th I read about the bios glitch and flashed it back to 14 and now my idle is 29 and load is 41C with no OC. try it.
overall show of performance for the Pro board with the 9800 GTX video card in Vista 64.
i was running a comparison between Gigabyte's X48 DDR3 board...BUT...i had a mismatch (giga scored lower) since i was using an E8500 on the giga board with a single drive operation...the Pro board has Raid 0.
going to pull the E8500 out of the giga board and place the QX9650 in along with the 9800 card to see where the difference falls (will install Vista 64)
for the meantime, here is how the Pro does with a 9800 card and Vista64 and SP1.
I don't know what's going on with my setup...
2X1GB Ballistix DDR2 1066mhz
Q6600 G0
9 X 435 and it will post usually with no issue.
however, the moment I touch any voltages other than CPU Voltage and DDR2 voltage, it fails to post.
So I cannot increase the MCH from 1.37 or 1.41V or any of the other voltages.
With my setup, what should most of my voltages be, besides CPU Voltage and DDR Voltage?
Thanks!
I changed to the 14 bios, and the high temps I was getting before in the bios and uGuru have disappeared. Thanks for that suggestion. My Q6600 is at 3.4 ghz. Idle is around 32-35 C in uGuru. Cores are about 44-47 C in Core Temp. I've been running Prime95 for a couple hours now, and max temp in uGuru is 63 C so far. The cores are around 77-79 C. Are these temps typical for a Q6600 OC'ed to 3.4 ghz?
CPU-Z 1.45
http://www.majorgeeks.com/CPU-Z_d425.html
dang those are high temps, u might want to test out some lower Cpu voltages and MB voltages for a better heat management, thats once its stable anyways. and the bios thing I was made aware from a post by Cob so thanks to him. My rig is only at 3.0 Ghz with 45C load, 58C-60C max cores when running P95 on Large FFTs, it idles at 29C now. Im using arctic cooling freezer with AS5, imma mess with the voltages for the lowest possible later but these settings right now are great 14+h no errors. I think imma try to go for 3.2 or possible the max on air of 3.6 once i find the time for it anyways. but G0 can run hot, it depends on your preference and how long u want the chip for. GL
how's this board handling Yorkies?
a nice chart done by Supershanks...data taken from my two PCMark2005 benches...one done on the IP35 Pro and one on the GA-X48T-DQ6 (ddr3)...all the add-in hardware and OS were identical...the only difference was board chipset and DDR2 vs. DDR3.
hard drive score is very high...this is because i used an Areca Raid 8X PCIe card
COMMONALITY:
Vista64 w/SP1
QX9650
9800GTX (same video driver)
Areca 1210 8X PCIe Raid card (has own processor and memory)
Raid 0 w/128K Stripe
2-250gb Seagate-16mb cache (single platters)
Interesting, thats alot of more money for a 8.53% increase.
I suppose the real benefit is xfire support.
that is why the IP35 Pro is the best bang for the buck in the P35 performance category!..no wonder the IP35 Pro won Anandtech's "Gold" award for the best P35 board.
8.53% overall performance increase is a pretty good increase for upgrade boards...generally you are going to see around a 5% increase, and that stays true for the memory performnce going from the P35 to an X48....i did not go to an extreme mode with my memory...i approached memory timings more realistically with everyday application.
in video performance, the PCIe 2.0 spec appears to be showing its muscle....again, the card was not overclocked and PCIe bus was not overclocked
the higher hard drive score is probably reflective of running my Areca Raid 8x card in a full 16X speed PCIe slot compared to the Pro and other P35 boards having only the capability to run the 2nd PCIe 16x slot at 4x speed.
i ran the PCMark bench on the Giga board using the Intel Raid chipet and it had only a 28% increase over a single drive operation but was really under performing by a whopping minus 52% against the Areca Raid card...the Areca card has an almost 100% increase in performance over a single drive environment...this is your typical 7.2K rpm drive with 16mb of cache...Raptor's live in their own special category because of the 10K rotational platter speed....i wish i had two raptors to compare between two 7.2K to see what the difference was on the Areca card. (some day;))
I must give a big thumbs up for the IP35-Pro. I thought I was going to "upgrade" to a DFI LP LT P35 and clock my Q6600 higher, however not only did the DFI needed 1.4 VTT to be OCCT stable, it was still giving errors in FAH, in fact I was not able to complete any unit. Anyway back to the IP35-Pro, VTT back down to 1.2 and everything is smooth as silk again. The only fault I see in the IP35-Pro is the large vdroop, maybe one day I will be game enough to solder my board.
As soon as I get my $70 rebate check from Abit (they have already confirmed receipt of my form) I would have to agree. Without the rebate I would have to give the bang/buck award to the Blood Iron.
IP35 mobo has been easy to work with and I would recommend it without reservation to most who want to build a single video card no game rig. I mated it to my lesser e8400 @4ghz for a game rig.
I shutdown my computer and took it back home from college last week. Before booting it up I cleaned it out with some compressed air (it was very dusty) and booted it up. To my dismay the bios diagnostic panel gave a C1 error. I was used to this happening after unplugging my computer for long amounts of time (it happened during winter break also).
I figured no biggie, cleared CMOS, put one stick of memory in dimm slot 4 and booted, same problem. I tried slot 1-4 alternating sticks between with no luck. I figured maybe the stock voltage is too low and/or my sticks are slowly dying. I ran to staples and got some POS Kbyte 512MB PC4200 stick just to get me able to get into BIOS. No luck. I've tried 2-6 hour CMOS clears and then a big 1.5 day CMOS clear after unplugging the power supply.
At this point I figured maybe something is shorting so I took out all my hardware and booted it on a box, same problem. I've tried different combinations of memory with no luck. I even tried a new PSU and video card...
Does anyone know whats going on?
did you pull the battery while clearing CMOS?
the only other thing to do is unplug everything from the board, memory, VC, drives and ATX power cord and the 12v supply to the cpu...leave the cpu in while doing this...leave it for 8 hours or so with battery out and CMOS in the clear mode.
do you have a different PSU to try?...the other thing to check is if your VC is working...try it in another rig if you have that capability.
tell us if this helps or does nothing?
Anybody used this RAM with the Pro?

Turns out my memory is just freaking out. I purchased a cheapo 667mhz stick (found out 533 won't boot with this board) and it booted up, changed the voltages and timings bam works... but only with one stick. I guess my other stick died. I'm so sick of these ballistix.
How do Corsair Dominators PC6400 work with this?
Just got off the phone with Crucial, they are sending me a new kit of single sided sticks :(
If they suck I'm going to sell them, get some cheap dominators
Abit IP35 Pro XE
Whats the difference other than blacks heatsinks and official 1600mhz fsb support?
It has its own bios....
So for the life of me I cannot get the audio to work in Vista 32.
It was working from the updates and then I installed the latest drivers through Realtek. Worked fine and then after a couple of programs I installed it stopped working.
I uninstalled, reinstalled... still wont play anything.
are you sure it is enabled within the bios?
Have a look at the side-by-side in post #8 of this thread. There is some hardware difference, but no one really knows what. I neither condone nor take any responsibility if you try, but the XE BIOS does work on a Pro if you use the switch to force-flash it. No clue what it changes though.
Hoping to get some help with my OC, Im trying to hit the 4ghz mark without breaking 1.60 idle vcore. Im 24/7 stable at 3.6 gig with 1.41 idle (1.44 bios) vcore (the rest of the voltages are at stock) as you can see from the screen below, i was able to do a 1024 run at 3960 with 1.58 idle vcore. Any assistance would be most appreciated, not looking for a 24/7 stable machine, just want to break the 4ghz mark :D

obviously a corrupted registry...next time, you might want to try a system restore from windows first and then from the vista install disc if restore from windows does not do the trick.
one other thing is to hit F8 key just prior to boot and select "settings that previously worked" or something in those words to see if that can get you back on track...
Hi
Im getting this board with 4gb of "random" ddr667. Can this board OC without OC-ing the memory? Or it just has upwards divisors?
Thanks!
if you overclock the FSB, you will overclock the memory...the only way that you can not overclock the memory if you have an extreme cpu where you can just raise the multi...right now, my QX9650 will not go above 9x multi (default)...abit does not have the sh*t in order with the bioses...i haven't tried the latest beta; that might be the gem to unlock mine.
Will be ordering everything as soon as the rebate on this board comes back at Newegg. Going with;
IP35 Pro
E7200
Xigmatek 1283 cooler
2 Gig of DDR2 800 Crucial Ballistix
WD 160 Gb HD
Sapphire 2600 XT w/ 512 Mb (I'm not much of a gamer)
Samsung Sata DVD burner
Corsair VX550 PSU
My best friend has bought me an Antec 300 case(damn nice of him if I do say so myself) and I was wondering about the fans which have L M H switches. If I set them on high will I be able to control the RPM from uguru?
You know if abit had there stuff together they would have the best mobo on the market by a long shot. Tobad they dont care or just cant make a decent bios.
Does the pro/xe have any pll voltage controls ?
Huh...I'm surprised the unlocked multi doesn't work with the new BIOS. Sorry you're having issues Ace. Heh, if you want to run v.14 and have some funky temp & Vcore readings, Deanzo had insane success before the new BIOSes were even out.
So I think my board just died.
I was swapping everything over to my new case and when I tuned it on, it powered off and then on. Trying to figure out what the problem was, i undid my pump, fans etc and then it started. I tried hooking up a fan to the header and the computer died, posted 8.2 error which is ATX power supply.
Tested the PSU in a diff computer and it worked, but the IP35 is stuck in a 8.2 code. When its on it will stay on for about 10 sec and then power surge very fast and stay on, code is constantly 8.2
Think the board is dead?
sounds like it...could have shorted or surged when trying to hook up the fan.
i am going to give 17.b02 beta a try to see if that has corrected the problem.
EDIT:...looked at that link and i think Deanzo was using 16.b04 (crappy with Vista64) which was the only bios, that i was aware of, that unlocked the 9650 above its default multi of 9X...well...off to see if 17.b02 works its magic with my 9650.
DOUBLE EDIT:...NOPE!...same old thing with my 9650 and 17.B02 beta bios...multi is locked out above 9X
If you're refering to my processor sitting at 75, its because the bios i am using reports high temps. Its about 25 degrees over what it should be. Also, those temps are just after the wprime run finished, so i still have a good 10 degrees or so to play with (I go by temps on the cores as opposed to the processor temp which is lower than the core temps with 16.03 bios)
that is what i remember reading...they are slow....i think like 3 weeks turn-around time.
I do advanced-exchange almost everytime I have a component go bad; it's never worth waiting upwards of 3 weeks to get your board back if that's your main PC. :(
No doubt. but before I send it out, This is a video. Dead, yes? Even with nothing attached, it still just does code 8.2

what's the word on the IP45 Pro or X48 release time?..june or later?
Nelly probably knows better than I, but a couple people (not necessarily with inside knowledge) guess June. The IP45 Pro is being displayed at Computex 2008, so that's encouraging. Of course, it was displayed at CeBit too and still remains unreleased. You are definitely not the only one waiting for them. :)
Have a problem and I wanted to pick your brains a bit.
My entire system shuts off (even the cute blue LEDs in my Antec case) and then comes right back without reboot to the same web page or program that was up????
I seems to happen primarily to my wife logged on in her settings of Windows (XP 32).
RAM, PSU, or does she just have bad computer Karma?
?!? Let me make sure I'm reading this right...it actually loses power for long enough that the LEDs go dark and then turns back on, right where it was in Windows?
I've had power flicker VERY momentarily and this happen, but it wasn't even long enough for the fans to lose momentum and was caused by storms / surges. Is she doing anything that can be repeated to reproduce the error consistently? Has it ever happened with you at the helm? And now, some random guessing:
- My first thought would be the PSU of course.
- Try moving the power cable around and see if that reproduces the outage...could be a bum wire.
- Remove all but one stick of RAM for a while, see if it happens again. If so, try the other one. Then try a different DIMM and so on and so forth.
- Remove any overclock you may have.
Extremely curious.
Hi Guys haven't lurked here in a while! Been too busy to mess around with my IP35-Pro.
I was wondering does anyone know of anyone who has watercooled the whole thing? i.e. mosfets and NB & SB? I was thinking of putting mosfet coolers from Enzo on the mosfets and MCW30s on the NB & SB but havent seen it done yet.
Cheers,
emu
Hi, I know just as much as you i.e. I dont know. :D
Mentioned in another thread, by the time the Abit X48-Max is released the only people who will probally want them is people with review boards  Abit have left it far to late to make it worthwhile purchasing because everyone has bought X48 boards from either Asus, DFI, MSI, Gigabyte etc, it's usually DFI who are slow as hell at releasing motherboards yet they managed to release the X48 boards as quick as Asus usually do.
The Abit P45 chipset boards should be in June, I really want the Abit IP45 GT3 if it's not in stock by July 1st, I will buy an alternative P45 motherboard from another manufacturer - end of story.
I can't stand Asus due to pathetic RMA service, but I might risk it & go for the Asus P5Q3 Deluxe.
REALTEK High Definition Audio - Version 1.93
http://www.station-drivers.com/page/realtek.htm
my p35 been running strong, good to see other's are also.
who plans to pick up the abit p45? The NB HS is kinda of wacky, but i think it will be a killer platform if your to cheap for x48
just need to put those DDR3's on credit card
depends for me...i need to look at it to see if i have any love left to sink more dollars into another board...i think abit has missed the boat on this release date.
yes, 48 but i also would of loved to see the 45 too....choices are FUN!:D;)
There's new 17.04 BIOS knocking around.
It's meant to improve Q9*50 compatability. I'll not get the chance to test it til tomorrow.
Ace-a-Rue> Saw you used MemSet with your Abit IP35 Pro a few pages back. How? I've got MCHBAR locked...
Loved using MemSet when I had a Gigabyte P35 DS4 and would be nice to be able to use with my Abit board too.
it is in this thread over at abit forum: http://forum.uabit.com/showthread.php?t=122393
Well I definitely think the 17 betas have helped with the 45nm quad clocking. With 16 I could boot all the way to 458fsb, but couldn't get anything above 449 stable. Last night I think I got 450 stable with WAY lower voltages than with 16 and p95 went for 3.5 hours straight while i streamed video to the 360. Then I stopped p95 and it folded all night and was still looking good this morning!
Just read this on the Official Abit European forums regarding the ABIT IX48-MAX DDR3 Motherboard. http://forums.hexus.net/abit-care-hexus/Quote:
I have been informed that we will ship to distribution in the next 10 days.
The BIOS will be worth the wait

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm...what to do!:)
any one think these would work better than the PWM heatsink http://www.chilledpc.co.uk/shop/prod...roducts_id=578
Hey guys,
I know I don't post much here on XS, but for anyone that does not know me. I run a QX9650 on my IP35pro and use it for LN2 benching.
I've been given on loan a QX9770 and I'm having some funny issues.
Getting it to post has been a hell of a time.
I did get it to after an hour of trying, even went cold!
This is what I found in the bios.
http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/9388/img0576rh1.jpg
Has anyone here used a QX9770 on this board, or knows of someone I can PM.
I've changed the above to 400X8, and I'm installing windoz now. But I can't seem to use anything other than 8. Do note, this has been 100% fine with the QX9650.
Please help me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)
With regards to the bolt mod from ACE do you need to buy some type of Nuts for the screws listed #4-40 X 3/4" (or, 1/2" #4-40)" ??
The reason I ask is the guide only mentions about bolts and washers so I am unsure how you are meant to tighten it - are the holes threaded and you just screw them in ?
Just need to no so I can order the screws
can someone please help me...I have had this board running well for about 5 months now, but I wanted to change a few things. I have always had it running 400x9, but wanted to up the ante. I wanted to run 500x8, but the computer will not start at all. If I change it to 450x8 it will not start either. It is like the board is not recognizing my change to the 8 multiplier. Even when I can get it running on lets say 300x8, CPUz will still say that it is running 300x9. I am running bios rev 16.
Thanks!
One other thing I need to ask, has anyone tried one of the two beta 17 bios with a QX9650 ?
I'd like to know if all multipliers can be used, I'm still using 16beta03 as it's one of the two 16's that work. It would save me time if someone here has already tried it.
Hello guys....
I'm new on this forum, and i had just join Abit Ip35 Pro club
The board is really good, but there are a few things that are bothering me....
1-The Power Supply Fan is really Noisy!!!! When is at bios and before windows starts its normal.....but when Windows starts, power supply begin to make a really loud noise......
Actually i dont think is the system temperature, cause now the board is at 29 degrees and CPU is at 40......any idea??
2-Why the CPU temp variates so much??? in one second is 50,and one second later is 30.....is it a bug????
Thnaks guys,ill enjoy your help!
EDIT:Do you guys turn on FanEQ? or disable it??? im using watercooler here
Corsair 4GB XMS2 DHX DDR2 PC2-6400 (2x2GB) CAS5
Is listed as being compatible with this board on page 1.
What about the CAS4 Version of the same module?
TWIN2X4096-6400C4DHX
Neither module is listed on the abit website. Will it work fine? Will I get the appropriate latency?
