Forward: official GIGA 965P-S3/DS3/DS4/DQ6 beta BIOS

3Ghz with voltage set manually to one notch down from 1.4750V, dosen't the voltage seem high for this O/C?

I did try and boot with 400x8=3.2Ghz....but i was at 1.5250V and not stable at all, failed Orthos in seconds. I'd suspect a i'd have to set 1.5500V and probably higher.

Considering VDroop....dosen't this seem high?

and i'll give my final word on the DS3 F7 it BLOWS! many of my normal overclocks are no longer stable.

BUT

i am now, where i wasnt before, able to boot at 7x500 i have never been able to do that.
but 412m and 4x23 is just not working.. i have no idea wtf the issue is but they screwed up something.

also.

max vdimm is now 2.5. so thats good if they would ever fix the friggin ram issues.

Jumpered CMOS...flashed to F7...jumpered CMOS...configured BIOS...boot to windows without sound. :( We'll see if it happens again.

I called them and they said they don't give guarantee for overclocking, but if he know more about that he will mail the latest beta bios to me.

And if I have still problems I must contact them, or the supplier :rolleyes: .

Ken....can you PLEASE ask them to fix the SYS_FAN problem?
Ever since F5 they have the SYS_FAN running at full speed and no longer controlled by the bios.

Prior to this both the CPU_FAN and SYS_FAN were temperature/bios controlled.

I had the G.SKILL HZ kit at 900Mhz with 2.2V and 1000MHz with 2.3V, 4-4-4-12.

Update - i am now 16hours and 15mins Orthos dual prime stable at 3Ghz:

Btw...my new Gigabyte 7600GS arrived today, thus i will see if my graphics card is holding my O/C back. As someone suggest one should pull out each part and see what the limitations are.

They were using Corsair 6400C3, the only D9 modules I have got to work on the DS3 past 460FSB at a 1:1 ratio in a stable manner. They were burning the midnight oil on this issue yesterday. ;)

The Gigabyte DS3 overclocking issue with most Micron D9 modules has been solved. Expect a new bios later next week after testing is completed. :D

Same here.

Richard man, dude, look... Get off the sys_fan issue. Gigabyte doesn't care and if your that concerned with the noise from it 1) DL speedfan and set your own speeds / temps 2) buy quieter fans.

But but...it was working right! until GB screwed it up!!

p.s. any new bios updates yet?
