When trying to o/c my E6600 (steping B2) to 3GHZ my system looks pretty unstable... I guess that the problem is on FSB, ICH & MCH voltage where i leave the auto option cause i couldn't find proper values on o/c situations....
So there which are the correct values during a 3GHZ o/c?
I just got my Q6600 installed with Tuniq Tower. B3 Stepping :(
I am currently at 3Ghz 333MHz*9Multiplier and it seems stable with Prime95 running for almost 4 Hours now.
Core temp 0.95 says 52* 51* 58* 54* one second, then 61* 57* 49* 49* C
What is the highest temperature the cores can reach safely? And what is a good way to stress all 4 cores 100%? I am on 2004 bios, should I upgrade?
Side Note: should I use the 2004 G0 edition even though I have a B3?
If those temps are under load, they are fine. Mine can reach up to 75'C under Prime SmallFFTs. (1.2625v)
Your choice, I would stick with 2004 official if I was you.
Ok, I tried going like 350 fsb at 9x multiplier. But windows would either freeze or not go past the login step. I changed to 333 fsb and up'd the voltage of just the cpu to 1.40v instead of 1.30v and it seems to be stable at 3Ghz. It would be sweet to go 3.2GHz or something if I can keep the temps low and if it were perhaps stable. Kind of new to the whole extreme over clocking. Some day I will be as good as you guys though I hope!
I am using the small ffts and it has been going for like 5 or 6 hours now with no problems, but I have no idea why the temps fluctuate so rapidly.
I got up to 98.2% CPU usage using 3xOrthos running small fft's, 1 super-pi 1.5 running 8M figures, 1x Prime95 running small fft's.
The thing that is weird is temps are 68*C, 66*C, 61*C, 60*C and cores 0 and 1 seem to be straight 100% while cores 2 and 3 seem to jump a little every millisecond(from 90-99%?). Is this normal?
I doubt I will ever actually use all 4 cores and get 100% out of them if it takes this much just to get to 98.2%...
My cousin has this board and he is using the 2301 Asus Bios.
His overclock is a bit unstable on the E6750 Intel processor.
I know that within a certain bios version it is not possible to downgrade it.
But I also remember sending a friend a link about how to do it and he made it.
I dunno if the right command is:
AFUDOS /i2004.rom /o2301.rom /n /pbnc
Is it?? Or Should I do it enabling downgrading on Asus Update Utility?
Thanks in advance.
Ok, so I downloaded a Prime95 that has multiple apps running, one for each of the four cores. It is now hitting 100% cpu usage and the temps are still under 70*C. This is with small fft's though. (No errors)
When I go to blend where the ram is tested, I get errors after 1-3 minutes per core. Do I have to alter the memory voltage or timings or is the memory bad?
BIOS 2302 now official -- ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/pub/ASUS/mb/so...eluxe-2302.zip
Edit: According to fc /b it's exactly the same as the 2302 beta that was available earlier here.
No need to upgrade for me, my 2004 mod works for me like a charm. :)
What is the advantages/disadvantages of 2302 vs 2004? It must be something in the positive direction since they wouldn't work at a zero effort..
well im not using asus new. bios 2004 is fine came across a e6700 es so i dont need to upgrade and if i did it would be lawrywilds moded bios

I'm having a major problem. I just bought another 2GB of Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400 (2 x 1GB). My computer does not want to run AT ALL with 4x1GB. It crashes all over the place, even when running the memory at default speed. If I take out 2GB, the other 2GB works fine just as it always has.
What can I do to run all 4GB at once?
Try to increase your memory voltage to 2.2 Volts, also increase MCH Chipset Voltage to 1.65 Volts (while only having 2 of the memory sticks installed). Then switch off your computer, put in the remaining 2 memory sticks and switch on your machine. Also try a memory voltage of 2.25 Volts...
On another note:
The 2302 BIOS is still crap. They changed nothing from the beta versions;
The Realtek HD Audio Controller still stays enabled, as does the Serial Port Address (on 3F8/IRQ4). Intel Speedstep remains Disabled
The real kicker comes when in the BIOS you try
Pressing ENTER here yields the result of a BIOS crash within the BIOS,Code:TOOLS
-> ASUS Music Alarm
-> ASUS Music Alarm Option
-> Detect CD:
while the BIOS' language gets switched to Chinese BIG5
Bravo, ASUS, really, Bravo
Maybe they're screwing up this bad intentionally, or they have monkeys code
their BIOSes now.
It's back to 2103 for me, which is the last BIOS without all the issues.
I tried EVERYTHING, including that. Nothing works at all. Crashes galore.
I did some further research and found out that it's hard to run 4x1GB with any OC at all. The only way I could get it to run stable was by lowering the speed to DDR600, which puts me under 100Mhz from the FSB of the CPU, and, thus making my memory a bottleneck.
I went out and bought some 2x2GB sticks. This will solve the problems. I'll report back.
fyi, my mobo needed 1.75v for vMCH to run 4 x 1GB stable at 400FSB when I was running my dualcores (E6750@3.2, E6300@2.8 both Auto Vcore) while vDIMM then was just 2.00v for 4-4-4-8 on my Crucials. Now Q6600@333FSB, all volts auto except Vdimm at 2.05v 3-3-3-8 Crucials@667.
HTH.
I would love to know why adding a quad core severely limits the FSB on this motherboard.
Haven't heard of any other mobos doing the same =S
All motherboards clock lower on the FSB using a Quad vs Dual.
Yes, All.
I have found an answer to that question at The Tech Repository:
http://www.thetechrepository.com/showthread.php?t=87
specifically here:
http://www.thetechrepository.com/sho...91&postcount=2
where freecableguy talks about Adjusting [Advanced] Gunning Transceiver Logic (A/GTL+) Voltage Levels
for Increased Front Side Bus (FSB) Signaling Margins and Overclocking.
To quote him:
Quote:
We can confidently say to you that Asus designs are so similar to Intel designs in this area of the motherboard that there is no doubt in our minds that Intel must supply them with some sort of "reference design." We have shown below modifications (Figure 1) for the Asus P5W DH Deluxe motherboard, a 975X chipset solution. We've also shown a picture that details the trace routes on the motherboard for one of the VTT to GTL reference voltage dividers (Figure 2) so that those that want to look for this on their motheboard at least know where to start looking.
Interesting to note, we cannot locate more than two (2) GTL reference voltage dividers on this motherboard, which could perhaps explain why this motherboard is rather poor at overclocking a quad-core (QC) CPU. This suggests that Intel's QC processors will supply Core 0/1 and Core 2/3 GTL reference voltages (Address) with their respective Data values if there is no external bias applied to pins F2 and G10. Please let us know if you can manage to locate the other two...
Apparently, this behaviour also differs between those who had the Realtek audio enabled before flashing to the 2205/2206/2301/2302 BIOS, and those who did not.Quote:
Very odd, I never had those problems. 1st gen board, went through all BIOSes that came out, always used EZ-FLASH followed by a Load Defaults. Afterwards I just disable the audio crap and enable EIST. Never tried to disable the SIO ports tho..
Also, I of course always clear the cmos and load setup defaults after upgrading the BIOS etc. Still, no-go with 2302.
I don't understand why noone at ASUS has stumbled upon this?
Hi
Can i disable Enhanced C1 Control and Intel SpeedStep with P5W-DH-ASUS-Deluxe-2004-G0-45nm-Edition ?When no wich Bios can i us?
thx
FWIW, I'm clocking about 500MHz faster (READ: STABLE) on a new board.
P5W-DH Dlx - Q6600 G0 @ 3.15GHz
P5K Premium - Q6600 G0 @ 3.6GHz
Both of those are with the EXACT same RAM, HSF (TR Ultra X-120), thermal paste, case, HDDs, video card - the works. All that changed was the board.
Both are Prime95 multicore stable for 48 hours. On the P5K I can boot at 4GHz (but not stable).
I loved the old P5W DH, but I had a really early version that only did up to 1.65V on the MCH, and it was REALLY holding the chip back.
Hey is there another place to get the optimized 2004 BIOS (G0 edition)? Been trying for two days and keep getting the site is too busy, try back in two minutes....
Want to take my Q out of my AW9D-Max and try it out in my DH, but need to get a newer bios first, think I'm still on 15XX with my E6600 at 400X9, 24/7.
I think www.mapesh-online.de mirrored it.
Hi everyone!
I would really appreciate your advice as to what bios version would be the best choice for Core 2 Quad 6700 (G0 stepping). I realize that ASUS's website says this cpu is supported since 2205, but I am also aware that there has been quite a number of bios versions since 2205. What I need is the MOST stable and reliable one.
I do not overclock, and will not be using RAID, WI-FI, onboard sound - they will be set to Disabled in bios. So what I am looking for is not expected to incorporate any advanced features whatsoever. Just pure, rock solid stability.
Thanks in advance!
i would advise lawrys 2004 modded bios link on first page of this thread i have a go stepping e6850 and it works fine with it
Uh, quick question: I'm having those issues related to the audio being always on when turning on the computer (actually, the problem got worse with 2302 BIOS - now it sets itself on when resetting the PC) and I've tried to downgrade the BIOS using AsusUpdate, but it says that the EEPROM version is not the same and the BIOS could not be downgraded. Is there any danger of ruining the mobo doing the downgrade via the floppy disk? Thanks!
Does P5W-DH-ASUS-Deluxe-2004-G0-45nm-Edition (Modified by lawrywild) Bios work with Q6600 G0 stepping?
Why is this bios good, what is the changes?
Yes it does.
It's good because it works fine, there are no bugs in it and it is based on an official bios that everyone liked.
i have had issues on this mobo going over 3.1ghz stable 1.02g rev board have a Asus Maximus Formula (Special Edition) and will have all the same hardware will post when setup in about 2 to 3 weeks.
So, what BIOS do you recommend for a QX6700 if you want to raise the multiplier?
I have read though lawrywild opening post and many other post though out.
I am not new to building pcs. ive been building my own back to the 486DX4s. This is my first build i have tried to overclock.
I am currently running a E6420 B2 with a fsb at 400MHz sense May of 07. http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=200200
http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=253218
but the highset i been able to push it is 405 stable any higher its freezes in the middle of a Prime95 or Super PI or after desktop has loaded. my concern is that my ram is what holding it back Corsair XMS2 CM2X-6400C4 DDR800.
If i left that ram Linked to the fsb it would be at DDR2 1000 but no matter what CAS# or (x)T command rate setting the computer would not post.
mainly my question here is "what would be the best 2GB Kit that would allow a higher fsb?"
Specs are in Sign.
So is it confirmed that 1.04+ versions of this board *are* more stable with overclocking Quads than 1.02 or 1.03g?
I'll have a quad Q6600 running on a 1.03g next week (Waiting on graphics card), I'll keep you posted on the results. Planning on running Lawry's 2004 bios on it.
As long as it will hit 333 X 9 I'll be happy http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...s/thumbsup.gif
I got my Q6600 G0 today its the L728A826
Hopely its a good overclock one..
yeah i have the 103g myself would also like to know
Rich
1.02G and running 333x9 with 4x1GB perfectly.
i was able to run 333x9 but had miner stable issue mobo rev 1.02g and yes the 1.04 rev are able to go higher but now i have a asus maximus formula SE on the way with a q6700 G0 step and I Now have water cooling for the cpu the HD2900xt and the chipset so so long to the p5w dh
with the new mobo and cpu I will be going for 400x10 for 4ghz club
@lawrywild:
I was wondering if you could also modify the 2103 BIOS, which seems to be the
last one before Asus started introducing quirks into the P5W DH BIOSes.
Looking at the release dates from the BIOSes, I am also wondering what they
are doing or if they are even doing anything at all:
The 2302 beta is from the middle of August; Don't they have engineers working
on the board anymore?
Running my Q6600 G0 L728A826 @ 3,0 Ghz
I have set the Vcore on Auto in the bios on my Asus P5W DH Deluxe
Prime running about a our and no errors so far.
But on what Vcore can i run 3Ghz ?
The Vcore are now 1,26v but i wanna try it lower to check if it are stable to
CPU temps are stressed now 50 50 49 49 with a Arctic Freezer 7 Pro.
Hi. When SPD is on (CL 5-6-6-18) everything works fine, but when I turn spd off and use for example Cl 6-6-6-20 the pc wont start
Some ideas how I fix this? I want to try CL4 or very low CL5.
Here is how cpu-z looks like:
http://img124.imageshack.us/img124/2443/cctz1.jpg
Heyy all
I wanna let you see this.
I dont understand that i dont see higher scores as this by other users.
My cpu i have clocked to 3,15Ghz with a 1,26 Vcore. and my 8800GTS 320 @ 630/950..
http://members.home.nl/knight-rider-...%20630-950.JPG
Who get this score to, or maybe more ?
I think this is not bad or not ?
When will P5W-DH-ASUS-Deluxe-2004-G0-45nm-Edition (Modified by lawrywild) Bios work to download? I have tryed many days now with no progress.
How come Asus says that the bios must be 2205 or newer for Q6600 G0?
Is that the Modification with 2004 larwrywild?
I have searched the net and found the P5W-DH-ASUS-Deluxe-2004-G0-45nm-Edition (Modified by lawrywild) Bios elsewhere, but i´m having problem to flash it.
Asus Flash says: Warning! The BIOS image can´t use in this motherboard. (The EEPROM Type incompatible)
Why?
Hey snakeeyes you are damn close to 5000 on the cpu score. Keep tweeking and you should find it.
I am running my 6600 GO with the 2301 bios along with 4 sticks of G.Skill 6400HZ daily at 400fsb with my memory running at 3-3-3-5. I will change my sig to reflect What I got running here. My liquid cooling system is just top notch and I see temps really matter with this processor I have. I just ordered some Patriot 6400 as the price with rebate was just too Xtreme to ignore I will let you know what I think of it also.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...a/speedy06.jpg
I am getting along just fine with this new processor
WeldZilla
one nice clock you have going there WeldZilla you have the rev104g dont you
Rich
Aha okay thanks..
This my first time i run this clock :P
I have it clocked now to 3,2 but i needed a little vcore more.
Running now on 1,30Vcore @ 3,2Ghz
Gonna test this soon and than i go higher to 3,6 and higher.
But the score that i now have, are that a special one, or get most people a cpu score around 5000 in 3dmark06 ?
Actually clock for clock you are ahead of most systems Snake eyes.
Yes w2richwood this is a rev 104g board.
WZ
Before my question gets buried in the annuls of time,
Can anyone besided Weldzilla confirm that ALL 1.04g versions overclock the Quad cores farther than the previous versions? Has anyone actually put this to a scientific test? Are the 1.04g versions designed differently? (with regards to that AGL+ whatever it was link that someone posted awhile back?).
Hi.
I have the 1.02G version of this board and i can't get my system stable when running 4x1Gb Crucial Ballistix modules at 800MHz at 2.1v.
I have tried 2.0, 2.1, 2.2 and 2.25v and max 1.65 Mch voltage with no luck.
If i run with 2x1Gb everything is fine.
I had to reduce memory speed to 640Mhz to get the system stable.
Is it possible that 975X chipset can't handle 4 modules at 800Mhz and higher?
I use bios 2004.
My rigg:
E6700@3.2ghz
4Gb 4x1Gb Crucial DDR2 800Mhz
ASUS P5W DH
ATI X1900XT Crossfire
Silverstone 750w
Windows Vista x64
2x Raptor 80Gb
1x Samsung 400Gb
Creative XF-i Fatalty
My mobo (1.85v revision) needed 1.75v vMCH for 4GB DDR800 operation but only 2v Vdimm at 4-4-4-8 Crucials.Quote:
max 1.65 Mch voltage
Pencil shading time?
I'm using stock vmch on Rev. 1.02G for DDR2-834 4-4-4-12. 2.1vdimm.
Hi all
I have now tested my Q6600 G0 but i cant go higher than 3,4Ghz
If i set it to 3,50Ghz windows doesnt boot
If i set the vcore higher, than it doesnt boot again.
I got the Q6600 G0 L728A826 1,2875 Vid
If i set the Vcore in the Bios on 1,5volt it doesnt help i cant boot with that vcore to.
Does it help if i set the fsb termination or the mch chipset voltage or the ich chipset voltage higher to get higher clock ?
I hear that many Q6600's can run 3,6Ghz with no problem.
Why i cant get over 3,5Ghz ?
I run it with a Asus P5W DH Deluxe, and Kingston HyperX DDR2 800mhz
The voltage of the mem is set to auto at this moment.
Can some help me with some settings.
Thanks..
I´m having problem to flash P5W-DH-ASUS-Deluxe-2004-G0-45nm-Edition (Modified by lawrywild) .
Asus Flash says: Warning! The BIOS image can´t use in this motherboard. (The EEPROM Type incompatible)
Why?
Lawrywild would you read my thread.
Hope you can help me with it.
I had this board up until 2 weeks ago, mine was the early revision and I could not get my Q6600 GO stable at anything over 3.2, so I think you are doing well with what you have achieved. I thought at first it was my chip, but it now runs 3.6@1.425v 24/7 and will prime @3.75 small fft's 8hrs plus and there is probs more to go! So maybe, you just may be in the same situation as I was!
okay, but maybe can i set the fsb termination or the mch chipset voltage or the ich chipset voltage higher, dont know if thats helps..
A another problem
I got Kingston HyperX DDR2 800
What timings can i use on stock 2,4ghz ?
I running now 3,1 Ghz and the timings works now on 4.4.4.11
But if i clock to 3,2ghz than it boot not i dont see the bios to
it boot only if i set the timings to By SPD (automatic)
So what timing do i need to boot on 3,4 ghz or more ?
I got this memory:
2 GB DDR2-800 Kit
Retail, SLI-Ready, KHX6400D2LLK2/2GN
Timings in Everest says:
@ 400: 5.5.5.16
@ 266: 4.4.4.11
@ 200: 3.3.3.8
Can some help me with that.
I want to run at lowest timings of cource.
well my new asus maximus formula is in and will be up soon
i have rev 1.02 of the p5w dh and could not get to boot at 3.2 and stay in os 3.1 was stable but no higher.
I got this working now @ the moment:
http://members.home.nl/knight-rider-...%20Clocked.JPG
Got a 3Dmark05 score of 19274 with 8800GTS 320 @ 685/1005mhz
Got a 3Dmark06 score of 13265 with 8800GTD 320 @ 685/1005mhz
This is with the memory timings on 4.4.4.11
If i got a timing of 5.5.6.2 i got a lower score.
So are this good ?
P.s would someone look to my thread i asked there how i get the timings on another timings.
Its 2 reply's back..
Hi!!
I currently have Windows XP Professional running on my ASUS P5W DH board with a RAID 0 for added speed. When I installed the OS, I had to make a floppy disk for the RAID driver to be installed. If I am PLANNING to upgrade to Vista 32bit, do I need to make another floppy disk with RAID Drivers?
I have done a "dry run" of the Vista install and the install seems to recognize my RAID array that I is created in my RAID BIOS ( it shows up as a ~76 GB partition instead of 2 separate 36GB Drives. THE WEIRD thing is that it also shows a 12MB partition on that drive!?!?!?
Should I download and make a RAID Driver disk or does VISTA recognize the INTEL RAID well enough to use it???
In my opinion, it's better to install using the latest drivers rather than these older ones anyway.
You don't need a floppy, you can put the drivers onto a usb flash and use that.
I just tried another set of CM2X1024-6400C4 ($60 after rebate) to get as much extra memory as I can get, and the PC locks up when even one stick of it is in. Don't even get to adjust any BIOS settings. This is with OC to 2.87Ghz/PC-6400 Dual Channel. BIOS 2302 (BAD for 4GB?).
I tried the new stuff alone in the original orange slots, and the new stuff alone in the unused-until-now black slots, and it works fine.
I see the reports of higher vMCH required by some, and not required by others, so I'm wondering where to go next. This P5W only goes to 1.65V and that's where I had it.
Can hardware revisions in the RAM itself make for incompatibility? I got some DDR for my Compaq that wouldn't work so I swapped it out for similar-to-what-I-had-looking chips from another manufacturer. The parts numbers on these CM2X1024-6400C4 are different from the first set, but the heat spreaders make it hard to see anything.
Would more RAM voltage be required, or just be dangerous?
While I wait for advice, I've gone back to stock BIOS so I can see what happens with 4GB. Unless a miracle happens, I'll have to pop 2 sticks just to change the BIOS again.
Really annoying when just plugging something in doesn't work...
you know Iceman and Snake eyes and a few others. I just bought and tried some patriot 4-4-4-12 memory it is their 6400 extreme xblk stuff. I pulled out 2 sticks of my G.Skill 6400 and put in their me right beside my 2 remaining sticks of G.Skill. the timings were set where they always are. 3-3-3-5 and I hit the start button and it was a no go! I thought maybe the mem sticks just did not like each other so I pulled my 2 remaning sticks of G.Skill still a no go.
Turned the fsb down to 390, still a no go the same at 380 so I backed it down to 370 and set the timings at 4-4-4-12 and it booted but it was not stable til i backed it down to 358fsb. This is supposed to great memory as is so many other sticks. I am telling you guys that I have a room full of G.Skill here and any combination of 2 or 4 sticks will run right up to and 400 fsb 1:1 with a quad core at 3-3-3-5 and up to 435 fsb with a duo core at 3-3-3-5!!
It's the G.Skill 6400 HZ it comes with the black heat spreaders... Get some!!
oh and Snake eyes as long as you have a fan on your memory I would say to go ahead and turn it up to 2.3V. anyway. Should be fine. Remember
Memory Matters..................
I will tell you all this also. Of the 13 P5W DH deluxe boards I have built on. This is the weakest of them all. I don't know why it is but, it really is. The 2 best boards were my very first bought in June of 2006 it was a rev 1.02 and the one just before this one it was a rev 104g. All the rest were excellent but those 2 were the real deal. I sold them both in systems. What you gonna do... This board just don't have that punch the others did but, it is a damn fine board.
I believe many of you need a change of memory more than a bios update.
2301 is turning out to be a nice bios.
WZ
Okay thanks.
So i go to set my memory to 2,1v
Than what for timings can i use i running now on 4.4.4.11
But if i set the FSB to 400 it want not start anymore (most turn off pc)
I would to get a best timings for 400FSB but cant find it.
And i would to find a best timings on stock speed 2,4 ghz (Q6600)
As i said my memory are Kingston HyperX DDR2-800 PC6400
The timings says in Everest Ultimate, 5.5.5.16 @ 400, 4.4.4.11 @ 266
and 3.3.3.8 @ 200.
I got the PC to boot at stock with 4GB, then I got it to boot using the 30% OC profile, then I got it to boot with 410FSB but using the first memory divider for PC-4800 (I did read the other posts before asking and saw this might work, but I didn't know if I'd get anywhere on my own.)
So I've stopped screwing around since if I make the BIOS change back to 1:1 again and it fails to boot, I'll have to pull 2 sticks out just to reconfigure the BIOS then shove them back in again and go back to 3.12GB as reported by Windows. I'll see how it goes for now with 'slower' memory...
Just not at 1:1...

Stable?
Precise problem I ran into earlier on in this thread. Now I have to get another motherboard, because I need the 4GB, but at the same time, I refuse to give up my 410FSB OC!!! I refuse to run the memory at 300 or 310MHz because it's now a bottleneck for the processor. :( I'm thinking about getting the P5K Deluxe.
Have you actually tested this? I have done some testing (gametesting and 3Dmark) that clearly suggest that the opposite it's the case; FSB is not the bottleneck.Quote:

No, what I meant is that if you run the memory at 300MHz with the FSB of the CPU being 400MHz, you are clearly running it out of 1:1 ratio. Granted, there are plenty of times people buy memory that is too fast for the FSB of their processor to make any difference. For instance:
266MHz = use DDR 2 533
333MHz = use DDR 2 667
In this instance, I am actually using a 400, actually 410FSB. So the memory has to be at least PC6400, which is DDR 2 800. If I don't use memory that fast, the memory FSB is going to end up being a bottleneck for the CPU FSB. It's sorta undermines the entire point of my OC if I am going to bottleneck the CPU FSB by lowering the memory multiplier; doesn't make any sense for the CPU FSB to be outrageously fast if it's going to be sitting around waiting for the memory to feed it.
If it can be proven that DDR 2 300 (DDR 600) will NOT bottleneck a CPU running at 400+FSB, then I'll be all for it. I clearly and logically don't think that's the case.
My plan is to get an 8-core 3Ghz model when I can afford it, and just run stock. I'm willing to keep this motherboard as long as that plan works out. I might never notice the 4:3 divider holding me back, but my next MB will have to be out longer so I'm not stuck with the first-and-buggy revision again.
Although, has anyone determined what the FSB drop would have to be to get 4GB to go back to 1:1 on this revision, just in case it looks necessary?...
I hear you. One of the primary reasons for me choosing the P5W-DH was so that I could upgrade to a quad core or higher in the future, as well as from 2GB to 4GB of RAM. The stability is definitely there, but this problem with the memory is a dealbreaker. I need to have motherboard that can do it all.
Can some tell me why i cant run 4.4.4.11 on 3.3Ghz Q6600 G0 ?
if i set it to 4.4.4.11 it dont boot anymore (no bios)
The timings thats works well are 5.6.6.18
I dont understand why it does not run on 4.4.4.11 on 3.3Ghz.
Can some explane me why this not work and what timing i can best use for 3.3 Ghz ?
EDIT: i have already found it was the volt of the memory
But to high can i set the memory volt ?
I got Kingston HyperX DDR2-800 2 Gig 2x1Gig 2048mb CL4.
Your timings are not directly related to your CPU end speed.
Running 1:1 mode howerever forces the memory to run higher as soon as you raise FSB frequency.
Your mem will require more voltage the higher you raise their speed or you need to give them some breath by loosen up the timings like you suggested yourself.
Running a FSB/memory divider can help you increase or decrease your memspeed, thing is, these divider don't work well on this board.
At least not on mine, that's why i got me a P5K-E now.
Currently my rig is running 3.4 ghz @ 1.42v. I have tested it with orthos blend test for 21 hour. No errors founds.
Recently my computer just shuts down. The harddisk, fans start spinning but there is no screen. After a few of and on turning my pc boots up again. When my pc doesn't start up correctly is get one long beep en 2 short beeps. I've tried to find it in the manual what this means, but couldn't find it.
Here are my settings and specs:
e6600@ 3.4 ghz @ 1.42
2 gb G-Skill @ 734 @ 2.05 4-4-4-12
Antec Neo HE 550 Watt
I have set the FSB voltage @ 1.30
MCH voltage @ Auto
Chipset voltage @ Auto
I think it is de fsb voltage the problem but I'm not sure. Please help me out.
Ps:Sorry for my bad English
Hi GLENBOY, I was wondering if you could provide me with your BIOS settings. I am running the same CPU as you, and I would like to see some settings that might help me. Right now to reach 3.6GHz I have the vcore at 1.45v, the memory set to SPD timings @ 2.15v hyper path 3 disabled, and FSB, MCH & ICH voltage set to max.
I'm currently running BIOS 2301, but what do you think I would gain by going to the modded GO BIOS?
i just ordered my p5w dh off ebay, and i opened it up and it appears to be missing the heatsinks off the 975x chipset and the heatpipe that appear in all the pictures. Any ideas where I can get replacement ones?
use water block for it
I peeled the metal covers off the NB and SB heatsinks (80MM side fan points in their general direction), but would some sort of cooler make the MB perform better?
If so, what fits?...
