Am I supposed to change the name of the BIOS file to something shorter?
Do I need to remove the battery or clear the CMOS afterwards?
P6TD Deluxe = P6T Deluxe ?
Do I have to remove the battery after flashing the BIOS back to an older version?
Anyone post Benchmarks on this thread? I would like to know the performance advantages to burning more electricity.

I have a question, I'm currently upgrading from my e6320/x38 to i7 920 and P6T vanilla edition not the deluxe not the SE. I heard that there are ram incompatibilities with these mobos. My budget is USD 120 for 6gb, any ram kits that you guys recommend?
I run my rig almost 24/7 so I probably won't overclock much.
Thanks.
*double post somehow*
From the official vanilla manual, supported 6GB kits:
Corsair TR3X6G1600C9(XMP)
Corsair CM3X2G1333C9D6
Corsair TR3X6G1333C9
G.Skill F3-10666CL9T
G.Skill F3-12800CL9T
Patriot PVT36G1333ELK
Patriot PVT36G1600ELK
I am a G.Skill fanboy so I am biased here ;) . Tbh you can't go wrong with any of those kits.

I have a question too :)
Why is there all this talk about the throttling down of the Turbo mode and even Asus making special Bios versions for overclockers to disable the protection while I can see people with 920's in this big thread setting manually the multiplicator to 21 after disabling all the energy features (C1E, Speedstep, Turbo, ...) ?
Can you really set it to 21 manually with an i7 920 with some specific pre-settings ? and in this case, are people asking for a bios change mainly because they want to keep the energy/speedstep features while still having 21 ?
(I don't have my p6t deluxe v2 yet of course, coming next week)
The Asus bios is misleading. With a Core i7-920, if a bios has a 21X multiplier option, then it automatically has to enable Turbo mode to get it. The default multiplier for an i7-920 is 20. The only way to get beyond that is by having the turbo feature of the processor enabled. That's why the 21X multiplier can throttle back to 20X depending on what bios version you're using. This is triggered by core temperature and power consumption, usually when you get up around 4 GHz and are running something very stressful like LinX on all 8 threads. Many users here have successfully cross flashed their v2 boards with the 0006 v1 bios so if you ever have this throttling issue with your new board and want to fix it, there's a solution for you.
On many boards EIST / Speedstep also has to be enabled for turbo mode to work correctly. If you don't manually enable it then the motherboard might enable it for you if you have selected the 21X multiplier.
Has anyone tried the new 0704 bios for the P6t Deluxe V2?
I've been following this thread for a few weeks now...
Here are a few of my own contributions. I finally got everything together.
I've been working toward my goal of a 4400mhz-4500mhz daily stable clock. Still not sure Ii'm going to make it that far.
System specs
Hardware
Processor: W3520 Batch # 3931A365 (bought from newegg on Nov 27, 2009)
Mobo: P6TD Deluxe with bios 0209
DDR3: OCZ gold 3x2gb 1600mhz kit
GPU: EVGA GTX285 Vanilla
PSU: Corsair 620HX
OS: Win 7 x64
Cooling
CPU loop: Swiftech MCR320 + 3x gentle typhoon AP15 + HK3.0 + MCP355 (dual ddc res)
GPU loop: Swiftech MCR220 + 3x gentle typhoon AP15 + Koolance FC + MCP355 (dual ddc res)
I started at stock speed with 21x multi (forced turbo) and a voltage of 1.175 on the core and 1.2 on the QPI. I ramped it up until it failed Lin-x (using over 5000mb of the ram per test)
Here's what we've got so far...
I'll be priming the other Lin-X speeds to make sure they're good all around. Just too excited to wait all night... LOL.

I'll post more once I get higher. Priming at the 4011 speed atm. Cheers guys.
BTW I love this board. It's very forgiving and predictable IMHO.
And for those of you who share my desire to see many many pics... Hardware :banana::banana::banana:...

I've since removed the nb fan. I pulled it and found it doesn't get warm enough (to the touch) to need it on there. At least, at my speeds so far. And it was buzzy sounding (i hate tiny fans).
Cheers y'all!
What is the easiest way to roll back to a prior bios?
I am not happy with 0704 (some strange system slowdowns since I loaded it).
Got prime going on the 4011mhz clock. Was shooting for 8 hours but ended up more like 14. Stable IMO.
191x21 Core at 1.25 QPI at 1.25.

I had a wierd bug with realtemp this run. It said it had to close (windows had to close it) and when I reopened I got the anomaly at the bottom right of the screen. No biggie tho.
Well so far I havnt been able to find a steady stable 4.4, ive been doing a lot more reading and trying new things so if anything its definitely given me something new to obsess on, being Saturday I was actually going to try again after reading the forums :) when I finally find stable ground ill post it up!
