Hi Grnfinger, I read many of your posts in this topic yesterday and wanted to say thanks for the overclocking tips on the q6600. Rapidshare is telling me that my ip is currently downloading a file and I need to wait:confused: I wanted the 1004 bios to make sure that ezflasher is even working. I purchased this motherboard for raid, which is running wonderful. A great overclock is just icing on the cake

Ive tried every single rampage bios, and still cant get it to flash in dos. Can anyone give us two some insight on how to clear this up. this is typical if you do not have the intel storage matrix manager installed and write back cache ENABLED.

I've seen HDTach give some pretty wacko results.

I tried doing 400x9 on my Q6600 and I got up into the high 1.5x's in terms of CPU voltage and it still wasn't stable for more than 30 minutes.

I dumped my overheated, barely OCable quad. I zipped down to my local store, E8400's had taken a nice price cut. Grnfinger: I have MOST of those settings (besides the RAM, it seems to be fine the way it is), but I had not changed GTL Reference, how much of a difference does this make?

OK, it WILL NOT post at 450x8, BUT, it posts no problem at 400x9, and now with those updated settings from Grnfinger, it's priming and hasn't calfed yet. I had to boot into Windows (was in Linux before) and so I'll just stay in Windows now for a while and see how this goes...... It's HOT (two cores are 72, two others are 69 in Real Temp) but that's on small FFT, and it never gets anywhere near this kind of CPU usage during normal use in Linux. It runs WCG/SETI at 40% all the time, so always runs cooler.
RAM is now at 960-something. I had the choice of 960-something and 1280 and I somehow doubt my RAM will do 1280....
Funny part is, my CPU voltage is still at 1.475, I haven't changed it. So it had to be something else that was causing the instability before, and not the CPU voltage......
nb needs more giggawatts!

If your getting a Det dram hang you will need to adjust PL level, your ram will play a major roll in this depending on the spd. try PL 8 or higher and see if it boots.
BTW running auto for any setting is not a good idea, its better to place all values manually.

And CPU voltage is still at 1.475. It NEVER ran this long before (at 3.6Ghz). It's well into it's second 8K batch now......... but I bumped NB up to 1.51 and FSB Term to 1.42 I think when it rebooted the last time.
OK, seems it's stable on the small FFT tests now, but if I go to run BLEND, it locks solid within seconds.............. I know this is RAM related, but the RAM used to run 1113Mhz on PL6 at 3.0Ghz on BLEND all day long..... So does this mean it's NB voltage?

Looks like I'm stuck at PL8 with pull-ins off. Funny thing is, it primed on BLEND for 30 minutes no problem and then I turned on ALL the pull-ins, booted into Windows, ran BLEND, it froze after like 10 seconds, then turned them all off. And booted into Windows. Ran BLEND, then it froze again after a minute!!! WTF???? So, bumped it up to 1.55 with all the pull-ins enabled, and it froze. Turned them all off, booted into Windows and then froze after like 5 minutes. SO, now it's at 1.58, and we'll see if it freezes...............
