well im hearing the bios update might end on b2 and Im having issues with the new bios , not stable wise , as you where right with the notch up in vdimm . . but it wont boot in ethier Raid or Achi . . only IDE

My 2600K is not really a good chip though... What i'm trying to emphasize is that B3 is harder to clock and love more voltages than B2. Anyway here's my setting for 5.0 GHz

And this was on B2 a few weeks ago...
B2
some 3dmvantage at 5200 HT ON :D

cheers !

Got B3 UD7 last night, looks identical to B2 other than marking on pcb. Testing tonight, hopefully it clocks the same.
What BIOS you guys using for B3? F3c?
Hopefully you have some good news , either way i think im going over to a B3 also for future bios updates . . .who you do you rma through gigabyte are the the reseller
Nice clock for 1.500 llc1 , Im have to find a chip like that lolQuote:
thanks mate
1,512 LLC1
SLI x16 x8 1 card 900 core the other 890
@ Eldonko........awaiting your results mate....hope they are the same IF not better!! :D
@ Sergio ....nice one fella....I think that chip has more in it...
@owikh84..this has nothing to do with your instability...but why are you running Rank Interleaving with 4gb of ram?? Isn't this for 8gb? It will be slower with 4gb I believe.
hey as a suggestion CPU-Z reading is low compared to real DMM measure point, measure the real voltage from a choke, the variation from idle to load for CPU-Z is the same tho. Somtimes with different LLC the CPU-Z reported is too littel or to much compared to actual, and it can be a problem.
thanks bud i know but i dont want to destroy such nice chip, this is my second and i live in South America kinda hard to get a nice one and wait the arrival etc...
im very happy that does 53x so easy and i think i can stabilize it prime on 5100 with no problem
cheers !
Sergio
Ok set vtt to 1.05v instead of auto.
LinX stable at 1.53v bios LLC2, ET6 reads 1.584v load.
LLC1 1.63v bios? lol it's not about LLC but B3 sucks more voltage than it should be. B2 just needed 1.49v bios 1.536v load
@ stasio, i came back from F3C means it was not good enough. Yet still a voltage sucker.
UD5/7 at newegg right now.
Here is my LLC1,in BIOS (as you can see)1.57V,idle 1.56V and onload 1.536V.
(Ambient temp +33C)

LLC2 in BIOS 1.51,idle 1.536 and on load 1.542V

Not sure(I doubt) BIOS improvement on B2 boards.
Bios F8 beta series was where people started complaining about vcore instability issues at previous stable settings. F7e was fine, and either f8x or f8f was needing more vcore for some people. But they were claiming that their 3dmark scores shot way up after going to f8f.
My UD5 has seen no such issue, but unlike the UD7's, our B2 bioses had completely broken LLC through the entire series (LLC1 overshot like UD7's LLC2, and LLC2 overshot so much that the comps went +.15v higher then restarted), that was only fixed with F1 of B3. So UD5 users can't do a direct comparison like that.
If someone is brave enough, they can try to crossflash a B2 board with a B3 bios, or a B3 with the tried and true f7e, or f8x, with the spiflash andrea had linked in an X58 thread message, that had the ID check removed (you can find it with a simple search). This was also being debated on the GB forums. It was suggested that flashing a B2 with a B3 bios should work fine (if you can avoid the id check), but no one suggested the *opposite*. So anyone brave or foolish enough to try, make sure you know how to invoke the backup BIOS (lee posted the poweroff/psu/case button trick) or you have a second board handy.
How do I flash the backup BIOS with B3? It was alt-F12 for B2 but it doesnt work for B3. All I get is the boot menu as if alt wasnt pressed in.
