well, they obviously don't know what they are doing. i've gone through so many, and seen way too many 0610/0615's that scale 2880@1.35 2950@1.45 3000@1.55. the BB mem controller revision is very sensitive to RAM settings, therefore in order to get 2880-3000 it requires quite a bit of memory tweaking. which is why inexperienced OCers only hit 2700-2800.Quote:

i don't really want to talk down on another forum, but [H] as a whole could bring down the entire average of any chip. yes, i've tested the diamond with a DMM. any high end board is going to provide stable, accurate voltages as long as it is powered by a good psu.Quote:

and the DFI doesn't have any more options than the MSI, the DFI just supports a higher HTT.
Since when did MSI boards have all the same DRAM options as the DFI boards? Thats been one of the reasons people advise beginners against the DFI boards because they take more tweaking then an Asus or MSI board.Quote:

the database here isn't for some n00bs who have never OCed before. its a guide for what you should expect from a particular stepping. steppings are fairly consistent accross the board, so if someone else hit xxxx with a certain steppings, there is a good chance you can too. maybe thats why our results are higher than everyone elses. funny how you get a group of users that know what they are doing, and their results are better.... what a shock.

the settings vary greatly from motherboard to motherboard. i'm not familiar with the ASUS bios. there are a few guys here that should be able to help you out though. its a popular board and you shouldn't have trouble finding help with its settings.
and yea, i'm not a big fan of running 1.55 24/7.

Smalltimer, whats the stepping on your cpu, some memory controller's don't like high memory clock's and a divider maybe necessary to get you higher than 2.6ghz since thats already 289

Find you max overclock @ 1.4vcore. You should be able to reach 2.6ghz @ that voltage and should be pretty stable if your wifes board can do 289HTT. If you can't get it to 2.6 @ 1.4v or better I wouldn't even keep it. I'd ebay it, someone will buy it cuz they probably can still get 2.8ghz out of it. What are you temps like @ 2.6ghz?Quote:

TCCD was even harder for me.
Well anything beyond 2.4Ghz requires me to add voltage. The curve is quite poor also, every 25Mhz added to the chip requires more and more voltage to compensate. Until eventually at 2.6 I need to feed it 1.55v - On air that puts me in the high 50's under load. (57 -59).Quote:

This is the second Opteron I purchase in Canada that is a poor overclocker. the other one was an XPMW and it was worst than this one. 1.35 on stock volts and would not see anything past 2.5 no matter what voltage I gave it.
I am tempted to say don't buy chips in Canada if you plan on overvclocking ;)

Grab yourself an Opteron from Tankguys.com or Flickerdown.com I believe both ship to Canada and they both have really good steppings for 165's in right now. Your 165 is very poor overclocker and I would sell it. I had a CCBWE 0551 UPMW that did 2.6ghz @ 1.4v that wasn't good enough for me. It sold for $275.Quote:

I'm working on my G. Skill UCCC at the moment. I'm finding out now that its likely whats been holding me back with running Prime for long periods of time. There are a lot of DRAM settings on the DFI boards so it takes longer to find the best settings for your RAM and memory controller. I've been testing this G. Skill UCCC at 265MHz and tried a lot of different DRAM settings and higher voltages but it just doesn't want to make it much past 300% before i get an error and i'm sure thats whats causing me to get an error in Prime after a few hours cause i been running my RAM on a 166 divider and thats kept it in the 260MHz+ range. They past SuperPI 32m and Memtest86 without a hitch so i figured they were good for at least 260-265. I'm going to try a low voltage <2.6v and see if i can't get them stable at 260MHz after i fiddle with the DRAM timings some more.
I had a CCBWE 0551UPMW that did 2.81 on 1.53v, i was surprised at the little thing.
About CCBBE, i wouldn't say they scale better than others... CCBBE = CCB1E basically, no differences. For the record my CCBBE did 2.9 on 1.4v so 2.85 with 1.35 sounds normal, maybe slightly above average but easy to believe anyway.
