can someone tell me how to install windows via CD?
I have a slipstreamed (using nlite) the ich9r drivers and the jmicron drivers. I know these are being loaded as I see them as windows loads the different drivers during installation.
I believe my HDD is being detected by the install software but it keeps on complaining that it cannot find my IDE dvd burner. I have set the bios option to "IDE" for the jmicron controller.

Since bios can change volts by .00625, and sensor only reads in jumps of .016, all CPUZ measurement are at best +/- 0.008, ie sensor is rounding up or down to nearest .016.
So looks like Vdroop is only ~.008v on F7a and F6 with rounding to zero or rarely to .016, and there was +.03 volt calibration correction on F7a. (Increased heat and increased OCing, suggests board is actually putting out +.03 volts more at same setting.)
What is kind of confusing is the review articles quoting .03v Vdroop for GB board, only way to get that value, I believe is by using bios value versus load measurements. Hence i was using Vdroop definition as same, though i agree that makes little sense.

bios 1.475, Cpuz idle 1.44, cpuz load (TAT) still 1.44
So perhaps was just calibration.
But if definition of vdroop is load-idle measured, then very little Vdroop on F6 or F7a. Just bios is off from measured in F6.

core temps are screwed up now on the DS3R
core temps are reading 26 +/- a few degr. per core when idle
there is no way my 3210 @ 1.52v is idling that low considering my room temps.
it was atleast 10deg higher w/ F6
normal temp probe on the board doesnt seem to have changed though.
maybe its just speedfan...?
mode 1 and mode 2 are also missing now under ram configuration
vdimm is atleast 0.05v low

So far, i understand that the p35c means that it can handle both ddr2 and ddr3 ram. The DS4 is a step up with better cooling and xfire. The S3 is a budget board. What are the differences between the rest? I can see that the dsp has slightly better cooling + xfire, but does it have a better RAID chip like it did in the 965p chipset boards. Whats special about the ds3r and ds3l compared to the standard ds3?

the gigabyte website has a side by side comparison chart where you can pic and choose your mobo's to compare
just use that it will show you the differences.
but as usual, gigabyte has made the choice to make 10 different mobo's none of which are really very different.
I own a Rev 1.0 DQ6. Judging by the picture I believe the Rev 1.1 DQ6 still has the same back panel ports as the 1.0.
Rev 1.1 and 1.0 share the same BIOS versions. So I don't know if there's any other difference aside the ones pointed so far.
Only a more detailed comparison of both boards could say if any visual difference is noticeable.
Take a look at P35-DS3R 2.0 it has more USB ports, and parallel and serial ports were removed from the back panel, but you can still use them with proper connection accessories.

About the fuses, I really can't tell because I never experienced such a problem and I hope I never do, but its interesting information.
For the people checking their vcores with CPU-Z I'd recommend you use the current Gigabyte software, Easytune 5, which is more accurate. Still, I believe softwares are less accurate than a digital multimeter. CPU-Z is sometimes dumb for vcore readings.
The value which is more important to take note is the drop on the vcore from the idle state to full load state. That way the reading you get you can estimate or have a very close result of how much (%) the vcore is dropping when the computer goes to full load.
You can also use Everest and enable logging of temperatures and voltages, very useful. But may not be accurate with the readings. But as I said, you can see the variation.
DAMMIT ! I said earlier that apparently everything is fine and that I needed to test my oc stability with MCH at +0.2
Well it's not stable with low MCH voltage. I need MCH at +0.3 to be stable wich brings back the PCIEX1 issue. :down:
I guess it's time to move on to X38. If the F7 bios for P35-DQ6 comes out before I can get my hands on a Maximus Formula I'll give it a go to see if it fixes the PCIE issue otherwise this will be my first and last gigabyte board. Chances are pretty slim though that F7 is going to fix the PCIEX1 issue with high MCH voltage.
I have noticed that both I35Pro and P5K have this option in their bios "FORCE PEG X1" or "FORCE PCIE X1" something like that wich should be set to disabled and it's related to the first PCIEX16 slot. P35-DQ6 doesnt have that option. Sounds to me like it prevents the PCIEX16 slot from being forced back down to X1. Could this be the reason why those two boards dont have this issue P35-DQ6 is having? Just a guess I am not sure.
I have also informed an official gigabyte rep on a forum about this problem in details. IMO it's better than having to jump through low tier bot-like support people to finally reach someone whom you can actually converse with like humans. If you go through requesting official support that is.
I thought the fix for the PCIe X1 bug was to set your PCIe bus to either 101 Mhz or 110 Mhz
I also thought that bug only occcurs if you are at or over 0.2+ volts on the MCH.
Note: Krohling may be right, it may be 0.3+ Volts
Asus boards have the same issue and the same solution.

So, this issue is reproduceable if:
-You set MCH volts to +0.2 and higher (or only if it is +0.3?)
-It's gone if you set PCIe BUS @ 101 or 110MHz

I'm using only 420MHz FSB I don't need to boost any voltages.
i havent had the issue on the DS3P, to busy to push it i just keep it on 400mhz with just +0.05v.....but on my old P5B DLX as soon as the voltage was put to 1.55 it would get the x1 issue
So asus boards have the same issue and apparently it gets fixed by changing PCIE freq but not in my case or probably GAP35-DQ6's case. I cant get back full PCIEX16 even when I change PCIE freq to 101-110-105-115-120
I have a bit of interesting info here. The gigabyte forum rep wich I talked about earlier had to say this about the PCIE issue:

sometimes when over MCH Voltage: more than 0.2v, your system can even search no VGA card. we suggest you can just +0.2v for overclock. if you want overclock more, you can over Voltage for cpu, ram..., it will be better.

Hi, My P35 DS3 (F6 Bios) lost the overclock many times after the system power down.
When the system start, ocasionaly go down (like a reset) and restart with the default values.
I had a 4300@3000Mhz with 333 fsb, my mems are quimonda 800 runing at 667 1:1 or 800 (also lost the oc)
Any can help me?

Hi, i currently having Q6700 G0 and want Gigabyte P35, i think DS3P is enough, but anyone have good results with this combo?? especially hitting 500++ FSB :D
