Just for curiosity sakes, anyone try running the automated clock rate checker in the overdrive tab of CCC to see what it 'says' is stable? With the headroom being much higher wiht this new bios it would be interesting to see what comes of it since the old bios was stuck at 689mhz max.
yes i did do a CCC auto detect and i stopped it at 861mhz GPU. i got excited and tried a 3dmark05 test at 759 and the computer froze in about 30 seconds. so i think CCC was testing at 700mhz and even thought it was saying higher every 25 seconds. I think we need a bios editer to see what the setting are for this PE bios.Quote:

All this talk of cards dying after 1100 hours is worrying me. If you play 3 hours a day for 7 days a week. Your card will be lucky to live 1 full year before it expires. No wonder ATI recently changed their warranty from 3 years down to 1. They expect your card to die just shortly after forcing you to buy another. With the heat and volts these things are using its scary.

Wondering how the cooling on the Asus EAX1800XT OC fares compared to the stock cooling. I am dying for something better than the stock to see if my temps can be lowered as well as the noise. I have tried checking for cooling results on the new card but came up empty handed. I would love if it lowered temps 10c more at half the volume.
My Warranty on my card is either 2 or 3 years...I don't remember. Some cards do offer a 3 year warranty I believe...
Time to research.
I can't believe ATI themselves went from 3 years down to 1.
The overdrive with this new bios sucks.
the slider is impossible to hit a precise clock, because of the 5000mhz top.
I also tried the automated overclock, it just kept raising above 950mhz I stopped it. But of course no good for benching.

XL can't work with XT bios (625mhz/750mhz), because memory of XL often doen't arrive at 700mhz
so it need a XT bios modded (625mhz for the core and 600-650mhz for the memory) to flash XL card..
Surely the reason why people are getting better overclocks, is because of the extra voltage, something i don't want for 24/7 operation, and the fan seed is ridicolous.
added voltage is when on 3d?no?.....i am on water so i dont know how bad tha fan sound is,i can imagine though.....just turn it on 100 percent when using the 3d mode?
What does it matter if it's on 3d? I bought the card for 3d, lol. Didn't spend 400quid to stare at a 2D sceen.:)Quote:

With the standard bios it is at 1,4V in 3D, with the PE bios it ia at 1,48V, that doesn´t seem dangerous to me.
What should the temp. be kept below?
