Thanks, that's good news. NV-78 cooler with cold water. Had to insulate the entire copper portion and cut out places for memory and gpu.

i just did some tweaks, not sure if they were all you can do though. is there a great place that list all the tweaks for 05? where do i set level of detail?

Reboot in diagnostic startup, load w2k style, then rivatuner-driver setup-directX, and set LOD+3.

excuse my ignorance, but is diagnostic startup the same as safe mode? if not how do i get into it? thanks

Ok done both mods on both cards.

STOCK: bench 480/1225 daily 480/1180
VMODDED: bench 594/1320 1.8vgpu 2.2vdd daily 500/1300 1.6vgpu 2.2vdd

If you know what your doing, it is worth doing the mod, with little risk (given you know what you are doing and feel confident)

I have a question @ bAdboLL, if you read this, wana explain how you did that mod, how you mounted that CNPS7000 and how you have the card mounted (ie: anything stabilizing it, or holding it up)?

Update for anyone who might give a rats arse, my ripped off and then re-glued BGA RMA.... it worked. Oh yeah. Tracking number says it should arrive today. Its nice. But.. its a 518-BX ??? was AX before... whats that mean?

Got my 7800gt in. I now have a 7800gt and a highly overclockable x800gto² (does 620/620 stock volts on water). I'm not sure about which I should keep. I think the 7800gt can't break 500mhz gpu on stock volts. It's the 517 model.

I can volt mod both cards, but I hate switching my machines from ATI to nVidia and vice versa... even though drivercleaner helps a lot, the scores always end up being less than a clean format, and doing a clean format all the time gets annoying.

Was your 7800gt evga? The latest batch has really sucked for overclocking, I don't think I can get past 500mhz with 1.5v =0

Well you never know till you try, a lot of people said to stay away from PNY but this card turned out to be a beast and my Ti 200 is still chugging along to this day.:fact:

It was pretty simple yo mount the cooler actually.

I just used the socket 939 mounting on the 7000 to mount it on the card.

I dont have anything that is holding the card up, i dont think thats necessary.

Yes, I said it was the 517 model, but sorry I wasn't clear enough. It's stock copper cooler with 470/1100 stock clocks.

I still dunno if I'm selling it or keeping it. This x800gto2 kicks butt at 620/620...

Replied... keep your fingers crossed, Mikal. The problem may go away... I've had tons of funky stuff happen with BOTH of my DFI boards. One of them doesn't turn on with a power switch (neither case nor mobo power switch). I have to "jump it" every single time to turn it on, no matter what PSU. :(

2.25v is considered safe for 24/7 some even run up to 2.3v but I'd stay below that if I were you.
