I picked mine up two days ago. For the life of me I can't get this thing to power down even if I hold the power button down for no matter how long. Windows shuts down, fans on, mobo lights stay lit.... I've read one solution is to do a HARDRESET of the cmos, but i'm not sure the right procedure to do a hard reset on this board. Seems the bios clear jumper is only for enabling/disabling the switch on the back. I've used the Clear Cmos button on the back but I'm not sure how to go about the normal steps of switching a jumper and removing the battery. Anyone aware of how to go about doing a hardreset without the normal bios jumpers. Perhaps I have a board that needs to be RMA'd if this doesnt fix the problem. The dx58so I upgraded from has no problems with shutdown.
Care package from Asus. They sent me an i7 975 to hold me over until they get me a 980X. They also sent an awesome Antec True Power 1200 watt PSU that I will use for my similar Star Wars build.

Is there any way to take off only HS from NB leaving rest in place?
Can someone please give me the exact dimensions of this board? From what I can see it's a bit bigger than the normal ATX standard?

ROG Connect is very usefull, debug / diagnostic / overview , along with voltage and clock controls, which changes very fast.

I used 1x 8 pin and 1 x 4 pin EATX power cables as thats what my PSU has, I dont have 2 x 8 pin :(

Asus screwed up on the heat sink design. I guess mine is the worst case yet -- the IOH temperature was settling around 79 degrees C at idle. I discovered that the heat sink was making virtually no contact. The southbridge heatsink was only marginally better. I ended up filing down enough metal from the three support posts on the bootom of the IOH heat sink to ensure positive contact. Needless to say, I removed the sticky mess and replaced it with AS. Now I am running below 50 degrees at idle.

Royal Fail has messed up with my R3E delivery for today, apparently it headed off to Heathrow Airport to be shipped aboard... :shakes:
Should be coming tomorrow though... Getting a refund for the failed guarantee next day, can't really complain for 2 day free shipping I suppose. :shrug:
