I'm in no way looking for a passive setup, how does the Mugen2 perform against the TRUE for 775 dual core?
I've had both and really don't like the Mugen 2. On an AM2+ 940BE setup, it performed worse than a TRUE Rev C. If it's not Rev C you may need to lap it, but I still like TRUE. Also, Mugen 2 is an incredible pain in the ass to install.

I think Thermalright should just include washers in the first place but what are you going to do :rofl: As an aside it did make the mount tighter. I also noticed that the E8600 and the i7 920 both have their own sweet spots as far as the central torque screw. As you tighten it it will hit a spot where it has the best amount of pressure and it will no longer "wiggle" side to side slightly. If you go too far (on the E8600 at least) it will actually loosen up the mount a little and the "wiggle" will come back.
I just got the VEX and its already rocking the charts.....its HUGE and the fan clips SUCK. And even on AMD the mount is rock solid no moving at all, though it is a bit difficult to install.
Actually even with the no central screw mine does wiggle a TINY bit. I've solved this by putting 3 layers of duct tape on the sides of the base where the clamp goes down.Quote:

Yup. On the 920 I had the screw maxed all the way down.

In short it could probably be the best solution for air cooling as of now...but will scale better with higher temps.
I still have some tweaking to do with the bios since it's the first time with the Rampage extreme but The VEX is holding my E8600 w 1.44v at 4.5 GHZ quite nicely. Iknow I know pics or it didn't happen lol. When I can get it stable for more than 40 mins occt I'll throw up some screens.
do you guys know whether TRUE fan bracket is also usable for VEX?
or is there any plan from thermalright to release new bracket for VEX?

Not at the top of the charts in this review. Somethings not right, Either the other sites are altering the results or bit-tech is making it look worse then it is.
The way they test coolers is a sad joke. Both Noctua and Vex beaten by Fenrir. Yea and I swear a saw a flock of flying pigs by my window.
There is something terribly wrong with that review....
I smell cherry picked fans. They apparently used the sharkoon silent eagle 1000. At 36CFM I could see that being the whole problem with the results, I mean seriously comparing heatsinks one should use the same fan. Based on the results I'd say the Venomous-X probably is the top end, minus botched reviews.
Grudge match between the Venomous X, TRUE and Coolermaster V10 on i7. Check it out...

I see many reviews of the New King are quite misleading or not done right so here is one quick test taken on my rig with the ambient temp around 24°C and with the stock grease (CF-2).

It sure does work great for you. :) Maybe you could treat us with a max oc/voltage combination cause 60 at 1.3v is pretty comfortable.

Unfortunately, I'm limited by the known issues for the 1156 socket that are reported even on sub 1.5V Vcore range.
