Ballistix 8500s D9s work just fine for me. Board is 100% stock, air cooling. Mem is 2.40V set in BIOS (haven't measured real).
I wanted to get to cold benching this weekend, but have the flu, so that might need to wait til next week unless I can at least muster enough energy to drop the single stage on it. Picking up DI or LN2 tomorrow isn't likely at this point, but I'll post results when I get them.

Then I don't have any more ideas that the heck could be wrong... Damn and I can't even get over 490 stable for AT LEAST super pi:mad:
What strap? Some straps/ratios are a bit weird at certain FSB it seems. I had a similar problem when booting low and trying to clock up on the desktop (450FSB and clocking up). 2.00B seems to work across the entire FSB range I've tried. 2.40B however won't boot between 480-510FSB for me no matter what, but I can boot at 510 and clock down fine with it. IIRC, the 266 strap was OK for me at 500FSB too, but booting at 500.
I'd probably stick with trying 2.00B to start. Try booting AT 500FSB instead of booting lower and clocking up. I think the AUTO voltages bump up booting at 500 and again at booting at 550FSB+. That might be what you need. Also try all 3 Performance Enhance settings too if a boot fails, especially if it starts booting and then crashes. Turbo or Extreme might work where Standard doesn't and vice versa.
im pretty happy with this board.finally able to run my cellshocks @1200http://i34.tinypic.com/16abipc.jpg
Ross/boostedevo:
Really high overclocks posted. How high are you going with your Vtt and Mch? Any advice on CPU/MCH gtl refs? This is my first Gigabyte board and the Bios GTL ref settings are a bit different from my Biostar/DFI boards. Thanks also for the input concerning the strap/ratios.
Just posted my review, check out the voltage regulation section. It should have everything you are looking for
What's up Patrick? :)
@radaja/PolRoger: Yeah, these boards (or P45s in general) sure do a nice job with DDR2 :)
So far, I've pretty much left everything on AUTO for the higher FSB stuff, so the 600+ are with the usual 1.85 PLL, 1.60Vtt. PLL seems like it doesn't need to be anywhere near that high though, even for 600FSB. If you're really going to be running in the 450-550FSB range, they can definitely be brought down a good amount. Only way to find out how much, is by lowering and testing.
I've had no luck changing CPU/MCH refs on Gigabyte boards at all. It seems like if I change either of them in any direction, things just get worse, so I totally ignore them altogether :D

This is prime blend stable, people with quads, this should help with your settings.
SPi's are pretty tough higher up for some reason. Like you, no amount of voltage increase or decrease anywhere seems to fix it past a point (FSB), but my point seems a bit higher. 600FSB+ I can't even get an 8M clean, but 1M will go at 650-660. Here's hoping it will still do that or higher at 10x multi on LN2
Does the GA mobo perform a cold double or single POST? Thx.
Tryed auto, 333, 400 and I'm using 2.00B (tryed with D too). Tryed with all 3 preformance options.
If I go again with all the infos:
CPU: Tryed with E8500 and E8600 (one goes over 620FSB one over 590)
Ram: 2 kits of Crucial Balistix (both goes over 1300mhz)
Disk& windows: tryed with 2 disks, 2 windows
Cooling: Water for CPU, and lots of fans over mobo
Bios:Tryed with F4, F4Pi, F5a
Bios settings: Tryed with auto, and from extremly low to extremly high settings nothing helps:mad:, tryed with settings that users posted here...
FSB doesnt go over 480 stable (SuperPI stable!!)
If it doesn't "go over 480 stable", it still sounds like you are booting below 480 and clocking up. Have you tried booting AT 500FSB like I suggested? PLL, VTT and MCH Ref are all different if I boot at 450FSB and it's impossible to even boot there with certain ratios. 2.40B won't even POST @ 450FSB no matter what I try.
Is your MCH Freq Latch set on AUTO or did you set it to 333? Try leaving it on AUTO if you haven't.
I just ran this, not even 5 min. ago. I purposely left the mem and everything at their boot deafults...just boot and run 32M with no adjustments. You might need slightly different voltages, but even this 2.30V is overkill for my sticks here and if your proc can't run 4.5GHz, just use a lower multi.

These are the EXACT settings I booted and ran that 32M with. If it's not listed in here (ie. Advanced mem, ICH voltage, etc.), I didn't touch a thing from defaults. This a template from the EP45-Extreme, so some names/defaults might be listed different. I changed the ones I remembered, but either way, the settings at the ends of the lines are exactly what I just booted/benched with. Try giving that a shot.

radaja start posting your volts from top to bottom. Doesn't help anyone much just to see clock speeds and orthos. ;)
I am putting together my first build right now and was planning on getting the EP45-UD3P as the backbone of my system.
I have never overclocked, but would like to get the most out of my system which will be mostly used as a media center, downloading, storing and playing movies and music as well as some editing and photoshop etc.
Will this board easily allow me to change settings and get the best out of my pc without too much involvement in the overclocking process? It seems pretty daunting as I read more and more about it.
Here is what my setup should look like (waiting til Black Friday to get best deals):
Thermaltake ArmorPlus(Armor+) VH6000BWS
GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3P
Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 Wolfdale
mushkin 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)
VisionTek 900241 Radeon HD 4850 512MB PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready
OCZ GameXStream OCZ700GXSSLI 700W ATX12V
Seagate Barracuda ES.2 ST3250310NS 250GB 7200 RPM (OS & Programs)
Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST31500341AS 1.5TB 7200 RPM (Media)
ZALMAN CNPS 9700 NT
Your thoughts, suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
This board is exactly what you want. For your needs Easy Tunes Quick boost should work out for you. Read about it here near the bottom pf the page. No overclocking knowledge needed.
Now my e8600 seem stable longer since I raise CPU ref to 0.78 in ET6 (not sure how many ...in BIOS) the other setting just follow zodden's setting
my post may helpful for someone

Not surewhy you couldn't do that with the MIIF, I can run 1280 stable and bench 1320 with my cellshocks and teams on the MIIF easily with lower vdimm.
This board looks like it has some odd quirks, and high FSB is taking some ridiculous voltages to achieve, perhaps more mature bioses may help improve the performance somewhat at safer voltages.
