D-Tek Fuzion V2 RELEASE THREAD!

Great!

I may be getting a sample to try out too, so I'll hopefully have a chance to do the pressure drop testing. If the V2 isn't bowed much, you can always use a slightly thicker o-ring than what comes stock, that should do the bowing fine.

I'd like to see a V1 with washer only compared to a V2, then maybe a V1 with quad nozzle vs V2 with the Quad midplate.

Don't forget some multiple mounts, when I ran my first V1 5 mount test, I was getting almost 2C differences just for different mounts...I'm getting better with mounting though as my nozzled 5 mount run maximum variance was 1C between mounts.

Going to have to step it up and try some more nozzles and bowing as well. I just don't think the 4.5mm nozzle is the best for the D5.

One thing that I noticed though is the fuzion had more consistency between the two cores, the AC double impact tended to favor cooling one core more than the other...Not sure if that's just a fluke or not, but it did that over 5 runs.

I probably need to retest the stock fuzion again too, after the first stock run I started laying my tower on it's side for easier remounts. Plus, my TIM application is getting better with practice.

Yea, the V@ isn't bowed at all. If anything it's bowed the wrong way, because when I lay a straight allen wrench on top of the copper theres a very slight gap in the middle....
So I'll definitely try a bigger o-ring.

Yes, the o-ring in the new midblock replaces the need for the washer in V1, so that's all fixed in the new version.:up:

But I think the V1 looks abit better myself, more sort of 'industrial'.
Does anyone know if you can buy the AM2 mount separate? Cos I'd definitely go for one of them:up:

How do you apply TIM? Whats the most effective way?
I've taken a liking to just putting a small perfectly round blob in the middle, as I've gotten the best results with that..... But whats the way you do it?

Ugh, first complaint about the Fuzion V2!!

The allen head screws on the underside of the block strip easily, I've already stripped two of them and CANNOT get them out.
D-Tec needs to supply the correct allen screw size, the one included with the block is a tad to small, you'll be able to unscrew the screws fine with it, but screwing them back in is where it'll strip.
The screws on the Fuzion V1 are made out of a much stronger metal and are more durable, I don't see why D-Tec didn't use the same screws for the V2.... :shakes:

Luckily I have some other screws to replace them, but I need to get the stripped ones out first.

Any suggestions?

Edit: Got the screws out, had to use pliers to screw unscrew them. But now my hand hurts :(

Dear God how I hate stripped screws [yeah I stripped 5 on my TC3 way back]

These blocks look nicer but a performance boost is what we want. I'll wait til Martin has made it do back flips and somersaults.

What's worse than stripped screws? Stripped screw sockets. *shudders*

Whatever method you prefer. I like the thin line method for thinner pastes, but this new TIM-consultants grease is much thicker and works better with a thin spread. I have a special little plastic spreader I use to spread just a nice thin layer over the core area.

Even more important is getting the block on nice and level as you get the nuts started. Also make sure your case or motherboard is horizontal for even installation, it's much harder vertical. When it comes to thermal testing the error in mounting is the biggest challenge so everything you can do to minimize that the better.

I"ll be testing on my custom built tech bench (mobo is horizontal) so I should be fine when mounting. :up:

Just be patient!! I get my board back tomorrow afternoon.... I'll do testing then. :D (V1 vs. V2).

But I have to say guys, I did a lot of inspection of the new block vs. the old block and I've found a couple things that are different between the two.
Personally, based on what I've found, the V2 is going to be more restrictive than the V1, but because of the restrictiveness of the block, it'll perform much better.
D-Tec did a lot of interesting things to this block! They re-designed it very well, thought through every new thing they added/changed, I'm impressed and I haven't even seen temps yet!!!! xD

It's nice that you got your fuzion on a saturday smee :)

Ok, so yesterday I did a lot of inspection of the V2 comparing it to the V1.

Heres the two blocks taken apart (top is old fuzion)

Here is something that Really caught my eye (look through the inlet hole):

Notice the head of the pins on each block, the V2 has pointed pins (only in the middle of the block under the inlet) while the V1 just has flat head pins.

Also notice the size of the inlet hole (down at the bottom) on the V2 block, the inlet hole gets a tad smaller kind of like a nozzle, while on the V1 the hole is the save diameter all the way down to the copper.

Yes!! The nozzle's for the V1 will work with the mid chamber plate included with the Fuzion V2.

Notice how small the two holes are.

Now look at this:

On your left, you see the new quad insert and on the right you see the mid chamber insert with the original quad nozzle inside of it.
The thing that caught my eye here is that the the holes on each of the quad "nozzels" are different sizes.
So now we have TWO sizes of quad nozzles.

In the comparison review I'll make sure to test the original quad nozzle on both blocks and then compare the new quad insert to it.

I personally think this V2 block is going to be a real winner! :up:

I'd like to buy one but can anyone give me a firm answer to one question? I have a backplate from a TT air cooler on the back of my board that's stuck on there pretty good. It has 4 screws coming up through the board in the standard 775 pattern. Any way to mount this using the 4 screw post method? I have my apogee gt mounted that way.

smee, can you test the v2 with the quad midplate vs. v2 w/ the normal midplate + quad nozzle from v1?

Yes, you'll be able to use the backplate and the screws with the Fuzion V2, you'll just have to take out the screws that already come with the block. :up:

Thats what I plan to do! :D This is what I'm most interested in actually, I think that the new quad plate is going to perform very well.
