That would be a great mod! Then you would have to mount a fan case side. However, good luck bending 6 heat pipes without kinking or snapping them.

Done it before though it was by accident originally... sat on a TT-BT ;)
edit
If you use a decent (about 1" to 2" diameter) pipe and secure the heatsink to a bench or something well enough it should bent easily, maybe use a torch to apply a bit of heat if you want.
Crap the pics are too small...
In a nutshell:
Clocks on 8800GT w/TT Duorb: 736/1806/1884 (Had to downclock mem until I vmod to get over 1800 on shaders)
Idle temps: core 41 ambient 35
Load temps core 49 ambient 40
Found my better cooler. TT DuOrb. :)

Idle:

Load in ATiTool 3D view (hotter than artifact scan) for 10 minutes:

I wish the 3D view had a clock on it like the artifact scanner so I could further validate my temps.
Crysis, etc don't get it that hot. Only thing that matches ATiTool in heat is RTHDRIBL with some heavily tweaked out settings to make it buuuuuuurn. Which is weird because I never thought of ATiTool as being that taxing...

Looks like a Zalman Rip Off...
Sort of, but it kicks ass. :)
i just bought a 8800GT and looking to replace the stock h/s
i think the ThermalTight V2 is very nice since its size is very small and still perform very well
but will i need heatsinks for the rams and other parts fo the card ?
I'm currently using the VF900 heatsink/fan right now with the duorb's memory/mosfet heatsinks on a 8800gt. When I touch the mosfet heatsinks though, they're extremely hot I can only touch them for two seconds before I have to let go - I'm afraid that since the VF900 doesn't blow on them (and I'm assuming the VF1000) won't either, is this something to be concerned about?
The only reason why I'm not using the DuOrb is that it's just too loud for me - I was thinking of buying a fan controller but at least with the zalman I get one.
Was also thinking of getting the zalman vf 1000, is sharkacomputers the only place to get one?
On a different note, I wish that vga coolers had a 4 pin connector so that they could use the vga's power connector...
i just got a VF900, it was on sale for $30 so i went for it. my temps went from 43C/59C to 36C/50C(660 core clock). it is fairly cold where my PC is to begin with
also for the RAM heatsinks i put some AS5 in the middle and small dots of superglue on the corners. it will hold fine but when you need to take them off it only takes a mild amount of twisting to get them off
i am pretty sure if i cleaned up the bottom of my case a bit it would be lower.
summer is the real test i am waiting for right now, if it doesn't work then i will sell it to my cousin for his card and buy a VF1000
Yeah summer is a real test, Im actually expecting a rise of more then 6c im load temps
I'm doing quite well with an accelero S1, 55C loaded fully passive with so-so case airflow...
Just got the VF1000 for my 8800gt, running the fan at around 50%. Running ati tool .26 for 16 minutes I've gotten:
Nvidia Core: 64 c max
Nvidia Ambient: 49 c max
Southbridge: 52 c max
With the stock cooler I've gotten about 76 c max - I don't know if it's that much of an improvement to have spent 55 dollars on it though...
case: enermax uber chakra
cpu: Q6600
cpu fan: 9700 led
gpu: 8800gt
gpu fan: 1000vf
No, no... just disappointed. I had the same temps with the zalman vf900 with the same speed. I'll probably wait a week to have the zalman super thermal grease set in and see if that's the reason why it's the same temp.
I also tried the duorb and max temp was 50 c, but the fan was on max and was just way to loud for me.
^^^ Cool. That makes more sense..
Hello,
i've Gigabyte 8800gt 512mb with Zalman stock Vf-830.
But it's too loud for me, so i want it change to Zalman VF1000 LED.
will it fit on this? Or maybe i must choose another vga cooler?
VF1000 has the best balance of cooling, noise and size. only a few coolers beat it by a small amount in cooling but they tend to take up 3 slots or are noisier
Vf-1000 Ftw.
720/1805/1940 with 4 instances of RTHDRIBL running is 42 degrees. Idle is 38. That's right, idle->load delta of only 4 degrees
I think it's an excellent compromise on performance and size. It's not a behemoth like the HR-03, but it's load temps are only a degree or two higher.
@techguy2k5
If those results are 100% accurate, then its extremely good
