what mobo do you have btw?
With full bank perhaps you gonna try a "little" boost of vcore on Cpu if not try another cpu to search an strong IMC
yeah. this will be the 4th 3770k. I'm using the asus maximus V extreme
What was the max ram speed this last chip would handle and what volume, they seem to vary a lot in IMC capacity. My current Ivy will not do anything over about 2630 and requires a :banana::banana::banana: ton of juice just to hold 5G stable. A new chip should be here today as the search continues.
with 2 dimms i can do 5 ghz 1400, with full bank only 1200 ( stable ) if depend absolut of IMC my batch is 3226B987
My current chip is a costa 3227C148 that will do 2600 full bank but not a touch more, IHS removed and using ultra on the die and MX4 on the IHS/water block. Temps are crazy low but this is my torture rack system with dual remote water loops. Tonight I should be testing yet another Ivy.
If i use 4.0 Ghz clock i can do 1400 full bank so look what's happen if you low cpu clock
No doubt it's less stressful on the chip to maintain stability while managing the ram control at a lower speed. You can eat a lot of chips before your hands get greasy finding that killa chip.:D
Couldn't a single chip from any lot be golden and the rest turds? I think Gold can be found in just about any lot and getting a good over clocking chips is really just luck of finding that particular chip of the lot. I think discrediting an entire batch based on the week of the year isn't a good way to go for finding golden chips.
The chip that I got today was supposed to be a fresh batch from Intel but after reading an explanation on batch numbers it appears my chip was made in the last week of June 2012 in Costa Rica.
Batch 3226C840 I7-3770k
I'm thinking about not even opening it and returning it for the newest batch that was supposed to be shipped to MC today. The Tustin, Orange County MicroCenter WEB site shows that there are no 3770ks in stock. Looks like my local MC is selling old batches right now. I really wanted a new batch from week 45 (1st week of November).
My other theory for picking up a June chip is that Intel has a crap load of chips sitting in storage waiting to be shipped out to vendors.
I also picked up a new i5-3570k which is an even older batch 3222B248.
I just got in another one last night which is a 3226B912. I will test it asap.
I just got one of 3770k Malay L230B645, anyone have got same batch?
btw where you can find CPU's number in the wafer?
Edit: nvm, found it A1904

Someone with M5G can give me some tip to settings for oc my 3570K. Right now it barly can do 4.5ghz with 1.3vcore
You have a bad one....9 pieces of 3570K yielded in best one doing 4.5 prime with 1.22...After 6 pieces of 3770K best one did 4.5 ghz with 1.16....

should do 6.9 for 1M with a bit more voltage:)
Very nice bclk on that one.
Just picked up a 3770K 3226B988 to see if it does better than my current one. Couldn't resist Microcenter's price!
My friend bought one 3570K couple of days ago, today he started testing some OC and right now it?s primestable at 4500mhz and 1.2vcore. That?s good right? He?s batch is L224C021 ?? My 3570K needs 1.36vcore for 4500mhz so it?s a huge difference in voltage. Wonder if i shall go and get the same batch as him tomorrow :)
Dumo,Splave or someone that know.....searching info /data about 3770k Batch 3223B
Well my 3226B988 turns out to be a dud compared to my current chip. This one needs 1.36V for 4.8GHz stable, my original chip only needs 1.308V for 4.8GHz stable. Time to ship it to the for sale section.
mmm not much difference between a single batch number!

why do i keep reading this thread... everything i do i want to buy another chip to see if i can get a good one :shakes:
what did you tweak to lower voltage?skews?
I play much with CPU PLL but that is because batch is good and let me play if not...just don't boot
My 3770k is stable at 5GHZ with HT on or with HT off but it feels faster with HT off and with HT off I can lower voltage about .08v on vcore so it runs cooler and feels faster to me.
IBT run at 5ghz with HT off.
http://minidriven.com/BlacknBlueforI...i73770kIBT.jpg
http://valid.canardpc.com/2600539
PLL set to 1.65v
Not only cpu pll...i don't say only cpu pll can do this... read again i say that play with that, BUT maybe is Because BATCH IS GOOD ---- for that the lowering vcore = cpu pll and others values just helped or not but again is because batch use lower vcore
Well I finally found one i'm happy with. Batch 3224B 134. 5ghz with all 4 banks of mem populated at 32 gigs. Got the ram running at 1800mhz. Will try to push for 2400 Later tonight.
Voltage is at 1.39 Volts, stable with Intel burn, HyperPi and Prime95 12 hrs. highest temp was on prime at 71 degrees. This is delidded. Idle cores are at 29-33 degrees.
Sold the 3226B988 (3770k) locally and just picked up a 3226C840 (3770k). Anyone have experience with this batch?
Just picked the same batch up today and I am having issues getting it stable at 4.8 with 1.355 volts. From what I have read this is a early june batch (you got it from microcenter right?) and most of these do not clock well. So far that is holding true for me but this is my first ivy chip. I may reinstall my 5Ghz 2600K and return this hot 3770K. Not sure yet. If I cant get it any higher than 4.8 then I have to consider my upgrade a side step at best because my 2600K would do easy 5Ghz 24/7 and up to 5.2 if I pushed it.

That is a nice chip you got there, certainly better then my current one which needs 1.45 for a solid 5G.
Guys is this really possible or is it something wrong with my system )
And i mean, 4.8ghz with 1.248v !!!!

dont you see???
Absolutly clear!
Asus P8Z77 WS
Core I7 3770K
16 gb ram full bank
and yes is absolutly posibble! can you finish the test?
Wait what? 1.228?I guess it is on an oc formula, asrock oc formula having the best vrm out there and needs less voltage compared to gene. One friend tested both board with same cpu,he found that his chip needed 0.06V less on asrock oc formula compared to maximus gene V.....!
Also memory freq makes a difference, same cpu needed 0.02v to be stable at 2400 compared to 1866...Also 100:133 strap is more demanding compared to 100:100...
No, I dont see anything on my screen. I only see your sig which states:
P8Z77-WS
2700K @ 5Ghz 1.448v
G.Skill 16GB
Yes, 1.288vcore 3770K 5GHz in LinX IF I leave memory used in LinX set to 1024MB. I need 1.415vcore to run 5Ghz LinX with ALL memory selected in LinX which means it uses roughly 6993MB out of my 8GB installed.
The point Im trying to make is he needs to use more than 1024MB memory to run LinX.
I installed the cpu yesterday and i havent had a single bsod so far!!! Whatever i try it follows :D
Ihavent tried 5.0ghz yet, i want first find the best stable settings for 4.8ghz.
And yes it finished the test but so far i try with only 5 cycles...
Something else which i dont how important it is, is that, as you see it gives low gflops when running linx or ibt in comparison with my lovely 2700K.
But then again it might be ok with IVYs or what??
What's the normal GFLOP count on a i7 3770k at 5GHZ? And a i7 3930k??
Thanks
It could be possible they do exist. I love binning chips.:D
Ok, will do. my ram isn't very good, no overclock, its corsair vengeance 16gb (2x8) 1600, 10-10-10-27 2T
woah, i wanna see a validator link for this.. dont even care if you can pass linx, booting at 5ghz 1.22 is amazing
also i notice you're having issues viewing images in here, probably because of the auto-thumbnailing of images making the text unreadable
i left click drag the image to the top of my browser to put the full sized image in a new tab, give that a try.
Well the 3226C840 3770K turned out to be marginally better than the 3226B988, it only needed 1.35V for 4.8GHz linx/prime stablility but still not nearly as good as my current 3213B472.
3218B987...needs ln2 asap

Hey all,
My 3770K from batch L2308575(Malay) so far is disappointing.
Prime stable only at 4.4GHZ with 1.25v and temperatures reaching 83C on some cores, but can't hit anything higher.
So far I've tried 4.5GHZ with 1.265v and also I've tried lowering PLL to 1.5v, LCC is set at 75%.
I'll be playing more with it this evening. Screen shots to follow soon-ish.
I've seen those suggestions already and I think it's good idea.
I did that several times in past on AMD's Athlon 64 Venice.
Although I think I've seen poll on hardforum that shown few people screwing their new 3770 CPU's.
I think perhaps leaving it as last resort option would be the best.
Any bios tweak suggestions? Perhaps increasing PLL to 1.9v or LLC to 100%?
I'm little bit rusted with my OC skills, since my last CPU was Q6600.
Just picked up a 3770K earlier this week. Batch is 3230B. Does 5.0Ghz at 1.330vcore under load. Going to be testing this thing further this weekend.
Got one 3229A whch should be able to do IMC DDR3-3000 (post Code 55 @ 2933 and 3000) ... 4.5 GHz 1.12 4.8 GHz 1.264 ... under air.
That 3229a seems to be really good!
Where did you get it?
Got it from a guy who bought two from an an etailer called CASEKING in germany.
The other one of the same batch which he kept does 5.4 GHz @ 1.48 vcore with a chiller.

Nice!
I got mine from a friend in Texas, I got it to do 5GHz at 1.48v on air and it's now delidded. Not a very good batch: 3223b
My former board sucked with ram and is now dead. We'll see how it does with my new MVG this weekend.

I just grabbed a 3230B368 this morning but have not tested it yet.
I think I might have finally got a good one after the last seven being crap this 3230 looks promising so far. I just finished some quick testing of 32meg Pi and loops of Cinebench R11.5 at 5G at 1.34v rock solid, not one issue and I am sure it can go lower.
I have a pathetically weak 3770k in terms of IMC, code 23 when trying to boot at 2800. Batch #3228C131, Costa Rica. By contrast, my 3570k batch# L152B659 Malaysia chip can do at least 2800, if not higher.
Got the itch to overclock again today after a long hiatus (Diablo 3...).
Microcenter, Tustin, CA.
Batch#: 3231B415 - they had a lot of them.
Not delidded, quick 30 min air testing...
Needless to say, I'm McLovin' it!

Can you do 5Ghz 4C/8T with 1.25ish 32m Laguna?
It seems like nice lovo cpu:up:
Is SuperPi what you are looking for?
Is this a good result? Granted it's only at DDR3 2133 vs. higher ram speeds.

Awesome chip Laguna:up:
3770K's stock @ local MC here in NY still full of 3228 chips.
My 3229b444 cpu was pretty bad...
Needed 1.48v for 5ghz spi 32m stability.
I'm getting a new one from RMA soon, hopefully it'll have a nicer imc as well.

Also, how's the imc in it?
Thanks!
