hi,
new rive owner here. i have the following.

NVIDIA GTX570 OC 1280Mb Gigabyte PCIe Video Card
This is a brand new system that I built today and I am having trouble with DRAM. The system isn't posting and I have the red DRAM light on. Have tried all sorts of combinations of ram and just 1 stick, tried mem ok thing as well.
Any ideas on the G.Skill ram that I have. Could the motherboard need a bios update? I am considering going to buy some other brand ram just 4gb to see if it will post.
Help would be appreciated, some nice rigs you guys have here, Will need to try some over clocking at some stage.
Thanks
What Gskill ram do you have? Have you updated the bios? Running on Optmised defaults ?
5.1Ghz stabil so far.

Will work later on to get the voltage down.
1.530 volt.
Not sure about this "bclk sweet spot" theory. What do you asus guys have to say about that?
not sure if it makes such a big diff in vcore required but i think it holds a lil bit of water and thats why the bclk skew / pcie skew is there becos i think changing skews changes the sweetspots.
If I don't increase PCH voltage, I can't clock my cards past 800/4008 no matter how much voltage the cards get (3GB 580s).
Increasing PCH voltage to 1.25 will take the cards to 900/4200, has anyone else experienced this?
Assuming there are no major differences in memory frequency, it is entirely possible that asking the internal PLL for a greater level of multiplication of the reference clock produces more phase error or increases jitter. If that were to be the case, increasing Vcore and tuning the voltage of any other related bus becomes necessary to counter any loss in sampling margin (may not always be successful either).
Are you using the red memory slots? I have the same kit, they work great on this board.
hi guys, thanks for the responses.
i am filling the slots as per manual for 4 sticks.. they are the gray/black ones from memory. i tried ln2, no go.
i am going to try some other ram this evening them update the bios to see and also maybe try red slots? very disappointing last night to not get it going :(
please try this bios to see if you get back your OC

I just picked one of these up along with a 3960X (3133B429). Just waiting for my new loop to get here and get the build going. First EE...hope its fun.
Very interesting, tested and confirmed this myself and for this CPU Im finding bclk 130-133 to be optimal. For example, dropping to 100.00 x 50 requires 0.045v more on vcore for stability than 131.6 x 38.
Are all CPUs going to be totally different for optimal bclk or is a 130-133 range going to be optimal for several CPUs? I would try for myself but I only have 1 CPU here right now.
I just noticed that my board basically doesn't POST with Offset Vcore and a different CPU strap. It just sits there powered on, fans running, with error code 79. Only the standard 100MHz strap works. For alternative straps I need to use the stationary Vcore method. Is this a bug/defect? Thanks.
Good info thanks. I dont think many ppl realize this and shoot for 100 x 50 or similar like they have been doing on SB-E and as a result have to use more vcore. Ive been running 132 all along but that was just out of luck bc it was what I needed for mem optimization.
Once you strap the cpu to other than 100, the cpu stops giving SVID commands to controller. So there cannot be 'dynamic VID' . Its Intel's way and characteristic of SNBE
Guys, i need your advice here. I bought a RIVE BF3 edition on december from Newegg, and it arrived to my country last week (i was waiting for other parts), but there is no BF3 code inside :(. What should i do? Contact Asus or Newegg? Both?
Guys, can someone uplaod last OC key firmware? From FTP I can not it download. thx :)
sup guys im new to this thread, i'll be getting the RIVE soon to fullfill my 6 core dream :)
i've been reading all the thread and why is it that 100x50 is harder than more bclk + low multi ? i read that 100x50 need more volts than 129x39 for ex, its the dif from SB now blck can be increased, so theres more perfomance gains ? or 100x50 still faster than 129x39
sorry maybe i will start shooting stoopid questions
cheers to all
Sergio

yes, very nice chip. Did u tested max multi load?:)
Still learning a lot of this mainboard, but what do you guys think of my current settings, should i lower the VVT or VCCSA?
http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/7646/captureyzj.jpg
I'm using similar settings with 32GB for 24/7 and I found that I don't need more than 1.15 VTT and VCCSA at 2400MHz, I also dropped PLL to 1.7. If you have 2133 Z, you should be able to run it comfortably at 2400 if you slightly loosen the first timings without having to increase voltage beyond 1.6.
waiting for my board to come back from rma..... 5 days life, and K.o. :|

cant wait to join the club :)
hello that is with you so
So my boot time to the beep
So switch on the power supply (standby)
33.2 sec
Normally off completely
39.2 sec
also did you ever?
Hi guys, I have some time to test this supreme board and I made (i hope) cool video tribute for this MB. I hope that you will like it!

Friends, as you have set the PCI Express I am trying to setup 3 way sli, but grabs. I've tried various combinations and do not grab 3 wa sli, Place 1-3-5 VGA ports.

Thanks sergio, to see now change the combination, but still not resolved.

VGA: 580GTX MSI / 580GTX EVGA / 580 GTX EVGA, seems they all have to be the same Bios to work
No need to be same BIOS, just same models (all reference or all Direct CU or all Lightning).
I have 4 different brands and BIOS and running 4-way SLI.

Maybe your tri-SLI bridge is not ok.
Samsung at 2133 9-10-10. This is the first chip that wont boot at 2400, so I tested 2133.

Sergio, I had misconfigured external selector, which is 1-2-3-4 were mismatched, and the Bios too, were the two different configurations. There was an error. It was my mistake, not the motherboard.:p:
Thanks.
I am getting a lot of sag in voltage under load on this board. Is there a Vdroop setting I can disable? It seems to be evading me in my searches.
Edit: Found a setting of LLC that I am happy with, the higher settings really throw mV at the CPU and I was not really into it. But High seems to be a nice setting. Close to BIOS vcore.

You may or may not have an ant problem in your computer after that :P
no problem, I tested it under LN2, its more danger than grass (I take board against the fence). Lol is, here is winter and in this city is not a snow :)
I have made user review too with some impressive results using only air cooling

Guys, what are the odds of reaching 5ghz with a 3930? Easy/common/fair/difficult ??
very difficult, but if you have wattercooling, its is possible. With air for 24/7 no chance (too hot).
My R4E arrived two weeks ago, but I was waiting for 3930K...
And it's here. :)

I'll be bothering you guys probably with stupid questions next few days, but forgive me, as I'm a little late in the game, cause it was very hard to come by this stuff here.
Welcome donmarkoni.:)
SB-E is fun!
Nice hows it going so far Don?
cant wait for C2 dang !!!
For stability with 32GB RAM, is it better to have 4x 8GB or 8x 4GB sticks?
My 3960x is 100% stabil at 5.1Ghz, but I cant even boot with 5.2:(?=
not even with 2 cores on only.
What is worng?
So back to memory.
Just checking prices, and on newegg.com, if you buy a G.Skill Ripjaws Z 32GB kit, it will be $1499 for a 4x 8GB, while the 8x 4GB costs $329.
These kits are both rated at 2133 MHz.
So I come back to my original question, what difference will it make for overclocking/stability that you use all 8 memory slots as compared to using 4?
Remember that with SB-E you can overclock the memory independently from the cpu. I have my 3930k runing at 4.6 and my memory is a stock 1600. System is 100% stable. I wanted a 32GB kit but with option of upgrading to 64 later. Rather then spend 1500$ for 4x8@2133 I spent 300$ for 4x8@1600. The only real difference would be when benching. For games and typical apps you wouldn't really see a difference.
Actually what you are seeing is not at all uncommon. The "wall"on these SB-E chips is pretty firm....especially for those with only basic water cooling.
Are you cooling sub ambient??
What I tend to see around the net is that voltage and VRM temps come into play long before CPU temps if you have good cooling.
Some folks have found thy can break throught the wall running a hgher strap and lower mutliplier. Have you tried that?
I'm officially frozen by the draft of these fans! Achieved 5.4Ghz on air tonight (63% OC) so I could enter the Asus UK masters tournament. It won't be enough to be in the top 12 I don't think but it's worth a shot. If it stops snowing tomorrow I'll maybe setup a table and try and do some runs outside. I should have done it on Friday when it got down to ~-8c

Going to turn the 190CFM deltas off for the night and go to bed now where I'l be snug n' away from these cold drafts!!!
Which bios for C2?
Thanks
How do you enable Trim or whatever it is called with these boards that makes SSD working near new state again? i am getting some serious slow down with my C: SSD.
Open an elevated command prompt and type:
fsutil behavior query disabledeletenotify
Result:
disabledeletenotify = 0 (TRIM Enabled)
disabledeletenotify = 1 (TRIM disabled)
(It's on by default with Windows 7 install. You must use a compatible controller (usually Intel) with the default Ms AHCI driver or Intel RST with a single drive in AHCI or RAID mode.
Enable TRIM:
fsutil behavior set disabledeletenotify 0
Disable TRIM:
fsutil behavior set disabledeletenotify 1
anyone has raid screen oversized booting with HD7970?
i'm on 7970 trifire.
try a 119 bclk. and use 1.86 PLL and 1.27 Vccio and VTT
I broke through the air and liquid barrier using those settings. I was stuck at 5.1ghz and got to 5.3 almost 5.4 at 1.57v with these settings.
Also, The Wall is actually Air/Liquid related.. If you have phase you will get over it easily. Its a funny wall because it doesnt seem to be heat related. At leat all the chips I have tested were this way.
Trying to figure out wheter I want to get one of these or wait for newer IB mobos to come out. At best, I am hoping for this board but with a revision or something.
Oddly enough, here in Canada it hasn't even gotten to minus 8 in a while. There is barely a few centimetres of snow and it has been sunny the past few weeks, I'm loving this global warming :o
Did try extreme preset low in bios and the board won't post. All fans turned on, no monitor signal and debug led is off, Q led cpu solid red also voltminder led at pch 1.5 and cpu vsa on solid green:(
Not even freez it yet...

Neweeg is oos, just bought another RIVE+BF3
Hey guys
I havent uppgraded since I bought the Rampage II extreme ages ago. I just got this awesome board but it felt like I had to re learn a few things. Anyway, here are a few screenies of what I have come up with so far. Nothing extreme like you guys but pretty decent for 24/7 I think.
Attachment 124045
@electricl: Welcome to the club! Very nice for 24/7 setup – ideal combination of performance/power ratio.
