Just have to browse my bios now to see what things all you have mentioned. :D
I just have played around with QPI (do you call it vtt?) Vcore, VDIMM.
The things you mentioned I didn´t touch yet *grin*

Is it not dangerous to have such a high VTT? (24/7)

Intel Spec max is 1,35V

nope been running 1.48-152v for nearly 2 months 24/7 no issue with atleast stress testing for a few days non stop.

I raised IOH and ICH to 1,28V and tried 211 BCLK. It seems to work now with qpi 1,34

This is already a little step of succes to me. :) Thought I might look for my 24/7 Settings a little bit above 4 GHz.

I can easy go to 4GHz but after that it sucks....I have missed some settings. How much do you guys raise your QPI/DRAM, IOH and ICH? What about: CPU differential amplitude??
ATM i run 133x30, Vcore 1.32 (cpuz) QPI 1.3V IOH and ICH 1.12 (stock). That is stable.
My nb run rather hot, nearly 50 degrees during load. It that a problem?
I try to find a nice 24/7 clock around 4.2GHz but right now Iám stuck!!
I have much to find out with this board! :)

If you don't overclock or run with high speed memories, then you don't need a high VTT. I find 1.52v with 4.0Ghz @ 1900Mhz memory is necessary for stability and have been using it for months.

Intel SPec is for non overclocked systems.

Could anyone tell me the max safe/stable temp for running the Intel Burn Test on a 920 with Rampage II Extreme? I know IBT really burns it even over Prime or SuperPI, so I don't want to be in danger of hurting my CPU. I hypothesize that it could be over 70 or 80! Thanks

cstkl1, Finally reached a 221bclk. Wouldn't boot any higher than that.

Looking at this guys results:

on a gigabyte extreme, he says he can't boot beyond 222bclk and had to set it higher in setfsb. So maybe that's what we need to start doing for beyond 221bclk. I'm guessing there is a 4ghz qpi limit as around 221-222bclk you are reaching the 4ghz qpi wall that everyone talks about. Maybe asus can address this in the next bios or tell us how to get around it. I haven't seen the dfi or evga having problems booting past that bclk, so maybe it's a bios fix.

Yeah i've read the manual and applied the method but when i press "CTRL + I", all the disks are under status "non RAID Disk"...

So i think the reason is that when first, i installed my OS, after doing the "makedisk" from my Rampage CD, i've used the F6 method with only the "Driver AHCI JMicron JMB36X 32bit".

May be i should have to use a second disk whith F6 method with the "Driver AHCI/RAID Intel ICH10R 32 bits"...

that's right ? Can u confirm that ?

There's something not quite working properly with the Intelburn test. On the i7 with HT enabled the cpu hover around 50% without fully maxing out any core for the duration of the test. Try LinX instead http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=201670

Yep, I had two floppies; one for each controller. Actually, I made two of each because often one will have errors...and turned out that's exactly what happened on the Intel one. Make sure you select whether you want RAID or AHCI, as the drivers are different.

thats one of the reason trying with the dfi..
trying with lower ram mhz and with the gt so no limitation by the ram this time.

the dfi doesnt seem to be so fussy with the ioh/ich ..
is it a design problem?? on the digital vrm vs analogue phase??

still want somebody to give a genius answer as to y asus thought running the qpi/dram card seprately was a smart thing to do
doesnt this create a lot of flux,

Damn it! My RAM won´t boot at 1690 :( Had already 1,67V But it won´t boot. 3x2GB Corsair 1600 8-8-8-24.
Would fixing the latency help me out?

Use the blue slots! Try bump up QPi/Dram a bit and maybe some more to cpu for the internal memcontroler!?

QPI limitation is a chip induced limitation not board induced. 99.99% of systems regardless of the motherboard will not be able to run BCLK past 222MHz. The other 0.01% are very lucky.

thats done by tweaking the timing code that adjusts the cpu and chipset during bootup. so you can get an extra 10mhz or maybe 20mhz from that, but thats it... and if its really stable longterm is another question... if we want a really higher bclock we need lower qpi multipliers or a chipset that can run higher qpi clocks than 4ghz

but intel killed off via and sis, nvidia doesnt have a license, serverworks doesnt have a license, ati stopped making intel chipsets, uli was bought by nvidia... so there is just one chipset left for intel... their own... which means they can do whatever they want now :/

Lets just say, it wants a lot of cpu vtt.
My chip does pretty well with vcore, so I only need like 1.54v
It's all about the qpi/ioh pairing with this board.

Setup my new system over the weekend....REII / 920 / Corsair PC3-1600C8.
Flashed to latest bios and straight in at 4.0 @ 200 bclk with HT/Turbo both enabled, linx stable.
No cold boot issues either, using an Enermax Infinity 720w.

Blue Slots to use is more than clear. Had 1,47V Vcore, 1,45V QPI, 1,7V VDIMM1,8-1,9V PLL and the ref Voltages up to 87,5mv. No effect. :shakes:

hi...

i've set my dram frequency to 1600mhz, timings to 8-8-8-24...

when i typed 1.65 in the dram bus voltage, it changed it to 1.65680

is it ok to run it at that voltage?

been monitoring it... the dram bus voltage sometimes goes up to 1.66...

should i set the voltage lower?
