Yes it is with 4 gigs of Ram.

This only happens on to me on 0701 and no control over Page file size and no Page file switch off
Back on 0403 now after failing to find any problem with Windows using earlier BIOS. Different XP image/new install showed same problem on 0701.

Setup two velociraptors on Raid - 0 32kb stripe size on a secondary raid volume - operating system and HDtach on the main drive. Using on-board Intel raid chip.

i dont know why have this line not regular
is on intel ich9
I find it hard to believe a bios is causing your system to go paging, Windows is responsible for this, how can a bios affect that?
What do you mean by no control over pagefile size?
You can no longer change the size for the pagefile in windows and you can't turn it off?
Finally got my Rampage Extreme.
I know, you have seen it before but itīs an awesome looking board.
But all that heatsink and heatpipe got to go for some better cooling thou.
I be back for more.

Crickey !! - is that a funnel for the smoke ??? :D :D
Its a little solid by Duniek. Not sure how much it wil gain but every mhz wil do :D
Thanks. Hope it wil run ok never tried NB tube on the Rampage before. Almost ready to go :D

Hi Zeus, appreciate any comments/advice on this as it seems unlikely to me too. Spent most of the weekend chasing a 'phantom' Windows problem though.
Just to clarify what I posted - it's only an example of what I experienced but couldn't explain, not a conclusion of any (likely or unlikely) problem with 0701.
yes that's what I meant, and that it only happens when I'm using 0701. I usually leave the pagefile on 'system managed' option and don't tweak for 32M - just tried changing size / switching it off (+ reboot) after I noticed unexpected, heavy paging activity during 32M and Prime. Only using 32M there to check for 'correct' performance before Prime run. My 32M times are usually slow but not that slow :D
Trying to get to the cause, I tested and retested with three different windows installs (XP32Pro + vanilla SP2, with 12 idle processes and <80Mb in Task Manager) and 0403/0501 BIOSes.
When I'm running 0701, Windows starts paging as though it's run out of physical memory during 32M and Prime, and consequently the CPU load drops.
No Windows problems found later in tests with 0403 and 0501 using same hard disk/install. Paging still apparent (using 0701) with different hard disk (same and earlier XP images) or new install on different disk.
So for me, Windows doesn't get permanently corrupted, only temporarily in how it appears to deal with 'available' physical memory (and only when I'm using 0701). CPU-Z still reports 2048Mb in Dual Channel, and normal amount (2 x ~ 900Mb) still available in HCI when on 0701.
I haven't been able to recreate this behaviour running on the other BIOSes so far, so there does seem some link to 0701 - even if it's not a direct one.
Could it be that something goes wrong during Windows boot?. Maybe a small difference in what 0701 actually sets in certain marginal conditions, along with some quirk of my BIOS settings and/or hardware might cause Windows confusion at some point?
Of course it could be down to any number of things, but it's not worth any more Windows hassle for me.
BTW 0701 seemed ok up to 630fsb 5:8, but with no obvious benefit for 1:2 memory clocks over 0403 for my Transcend anyway. Still happiest overall on 0403.
for ram..
hmm do it the old fashion way
with IBT
try each stick at a time in the different dimm..
run and get ibt stable say 50 passes since its testing around less than 700mb
keep changing each dimm..
but basically i find the real need to change the skews are seriously needed when ure running above 4.4ghz with a bus above 500.
provided u know ure vcore/nb/ram/pll voltages are sufficient.
oh yeah to make it clearer to know when ure skews need adjustment when u get weird results
today pass orthos small fft 10 in windows diagnostic mode ( that means no interference from other softwares) for 6 hours, passes memtest86 10 runs, passes everything and suddenly when u do this
orthos custom min and max 4096 max mem... it fails
or orthos custom min and max 8 max mem it fails in 10 mins.
definately a skew issue.
best way to test this is IBT or memtest 86
Sweet setup there loc.o:up:
The cpu pot makes me think of Big Ben for some reason.:D

My CSX Diablo 2x2 GB 2000GHz kit is waiting for me at home! :D
Time to start pushing at least the RAM on this board while I wait for my LC parts so I can push the whole thing!
Just in case you haven't heard.
The official 0701 BIOS is out & posted on ASUS's site.
http://support.asus.com/download/dow...page%20Extreme
Sorry about that!
Thought it was the beta.
Alright, I got my CSX Diablo sticks today.
Now I'm in the process of testing.
So far I've been able to get to Windows boot screen at 2000MHz, but not any further.
I've used Expat Griz's settings from here as a starting point.
Also tried 450 FSB at 1800MHz but same thing. Gets to Windows then soon hits the blue screen.
I was using those settings as a starting point, but I see I'll have to continue to tweak. For now I'm at 6-6-6-18 1200MHz PL 8 on FSB 500.
I'm going to try some different bios to see how it goes.
Anyone have luck with 2x2 kits on any particular bios?
