Bino
I wish i can do 3,4GHz at least with (x7) multi but can't, the max i reach is
(463x7) = 3,24Ghz maybe i should try putting a little more vcore and tweak it with setfsb under windows...though i wish i can get 500x7 stable but i loose the cores at that speed and multi....
I tried yesterday (440x8) and stable with 1,45 vcore on bios..It's a good config but looses with (463x7) on mems...
So far i found pretty good and stable configs that i'm happy with that balances good temps, low vcore and pretty fast bandwitdh...
Soon as the extreme arrives i will pump up vcore and try better speeds...but's summer now and i don't wanna burn anything specially cause i lapped and loose guarant.
Regards
Sergio
Ok here's my stability at 3.4=425*8 :D

ok, I just got a G0 Q6600 stepping I cannot find any info on (L729B243).
guess she is going under dry ice this weekend :yepp: :D
I tested at 1.425V in BIOS, 1.384 actual after VDroop on load. Here are the temps as well.

You want to use prime95 v25.5 - runs a single instance that tests all cores. Ps - post smaller images - lol!

Whats the average temp for Q6600@3.0Ghz. with Big typhoon.. Or what it should be?
Is around 5C difference between cores normal?
All temps vary on different factors : ambient temps, cooler /paste used, flatness of the IHS, Vid of the CPU...
My 730A (Vid 1.215) runs at 3Ghz with 1.2 volts idle temps 30°-34°C with Ultra 120 cooler in a well ventilated case....load with 4 100% Folding|Home action it goes up to 45-50°C, ambient at around 22°C, running now under the WC setup with 3.2hz full load 47-51°c
727B runs (Vid 1.315 ) at 3ghz with 1.3 volts idle temps 27-34°C ( concave IHS )... load 47-53°C under D-tek Fuzion block with Thermochill pa120.3
To have a difference between the cores is perfectly normal mate, thoug my B CPU needs a lap job to reduce the difference as 7-8°C is already too much to my liking...
I have a Q6600 L723A with big typhoob VX y got at 3Ghz pretty low temps
22 and cores at 34 / 35...
Pumping up to go up i get 32-33 / 39-43, that's at 3,5 or 3,6ghz
I love the BIG TYPHOON but i ordered the TR Ultra Extreme, soon as i get it I will post my temps
Best regards
Sergio
By the way I also have some lazy core, when all are at 42, he's at 37, or less sometimes and my CPU is lapped very well, it was like that before lapping
Hello Gang. I have had my setup for a few days. I have a Q6600 G0, a P5K-E/Wi-Fi, 2GB of Ballistix, and a 8800GTS 640MB. All powered by a 520W OCZ PowerStream.
The CPU is stable at 3.4 GHz at ~1.368V in bios, but its not at 3.6GHz with 1.438V is Bios (its like 1.400V at load in Windows, about 1.425V idle). First I thought the p5K series had an anti drop. Where is it? Also she does not freeze. Sometimes it throughs a blue screen for a second and then restarts. Other times she just restarts. Could it be that the PSU cannot handle the load? Or I need more volts?
Alex
Hey AgonxOC
Same situation here, guess it's the batch, almost same system as yours...i have an ANTEC TRIO 650W SLI and a 8800GTX, i tested 3,4 (425x8) ~ 1,3875
and can play games, crysis, bioshock, strangehold at 3.6 (450x) ~ 1,45 but prime95 fails 1 core...
My best stable on air is 3.5 (440x8) Prime Stable ~ 1,45
I don't think is a PSU problem
Regards
Sergio
Funny because I believe we might have the same batch. Now Prime does not fail on my system. The whole system rather restarts. Sometimes there is an Error (BSOD) for a fraction of a second, sometimes there is not. That is why I think it might be the PSU. What are your temperatures and what do you use?
My other question is, why do I have a Voltage drop? I thought the P5K has an anti drop (Forgot what is called now) setting and I have it enabled.
Alex
Sergio, You have a top of the line PS, like the rest of your components. At 450x8 you are at a very high FSB. What are your other voltages. Also, I need to be over 1.4 with the Vdroop to go over 3.4. Have you done any testing with x7 ? Looks like your memory can handle it.
Hey Chuck !
I posted on Offical Q6600 thread...
Yes I tested a lot of (x7) i LOVE IT !! cause of the bandwidth it's on 1852 FSB !! I wish i can be stable at 500x7 but no go...
My Best config stable prime95 on (x7) vcore = 1,3250 is:

http://www.subirimagenes.com/imagen-...3-1587780.html
I found a lot of interesings OC's, like 3,2Ghz ~ 1,2875, 3,4Hhz ~ 1,4, 3,5Ghz ~ 1,45
As i posted before, I wish i can do 3,6 with little vcore but's not prime95 stable...soon as the thermalright ultra arrives i will try, but i think that's the batch that needs like 1,525 to be prime95 stable at 3,6
I can boot an play games at 3,6 ~ 1,45 and 3,7 same vcore...it's all i need, no reboots, no memory errors
My best bench on air it's:

Just stable por SPI and ~ 1,625vcore, at this vcore's I need a WC, Also i pumped till 4095 with setfsb and can do 1 SPI 1MB and blu screen :D
The Other voltajes i Used are:
PLL = 1,5
FSB = 1,4
NB = 1,4
South B = 1,25
Vdimm = 2,2 always stock, some say microns DIE if more than 2,2
Best regards
Sergio ;)
Re benefits of higher FSB and bandwidth vs lower FSB and RAM with tight timings you may find this an intersting read http://www.thetechrepository.com/showthread.php?t=195
My L737A823 Q6600 'G0' is good for 9x380 @ 1.37 (before VDroop) under an Enzotech Ultra-X w/ a Delta F@H 8Hours stable ;) Temps are around ~53C load w/ a 25C ambient.
Pair of 1GB Ballistix DDR2-800
Abit IP35-e

Well I installed my ultra 120 extreme and the temps are ok, but I had to take my side 250mm fan off my thermaltake armor case. I have two more 120mm intake fans for the front arriving today, and I have another 120mm with clips for a push/pull setup.
Well I did tell you that it was big . You should have got the ultima-90 its baby brother which almost holds the same temps. If you had got that you could have kept the 250mm fan and had the same temps near as damn it. I have a cheap eZcool h550 case which also has a 250mm fan on the side panel which is why I got the ultima - no headroom for bigger HSF. But in this case bigger isnt a lot better-lol!. What fans did you get - the sythe sflex , panaflow or Silent eagle 2000 all have high CFMs and are reasonably quiet. did you take the opportunity to check that the IHS and HS are flat when you fitted the 120?
Just got this one last night. Fired up at 3.6 at 1.35v real 6+ hours prime.

Will test further over next few days.
It's not a big deal at all. I installed my icages (3 120mms for intake) and I ran Prime95 for 4 minutes to test temps. I then installed the 250mm fan on the outside of the case and the temps were exactly the same.....so no big deal. I'm sure after a long period of time running prime the heat will build up, but my second 120mm fan for the CPU will fix that :D
