Thank you andressergio :)
i would like to say the same to every one else to :)
@ insane 11 my northbridge gets verry hot runs 60 degrees... in my antec 900 so i wouldn't like to pump my nb voltage any higher...

Same from me also - thanks for all the help, settings, hints and tips, wouldn't be looking at 530x8.5 stable without this place!
Have a high-clocking Christmas and a chilled new year! :)

Happy Holidays Everyone
you guys are doing some great work with these cpu's:up:
i did there is MX2 on it but it still runs hot. the heatsink is verry hot i think i need to put a fan on it or something but thats not easy or its verry loud...
Happy holidays everyone! :rehab:
Without your help and settings posted in this thread I never would have pushed my Q9650 as far as I did!
@MrDucky
Do you think it would be possible to run a Q9650@4.5GHz with the DFI Lanparty DK P45 T2RS Plus ?
i think it could be, but for Quad core overclocking you should consider buying a UD3P. you also have to know that my Q9550 is Verry low VID. and i got another problem without a fan on my NB i cant get it cool enough ...
But it should be possible with a good vid :), btw im dutch so if u want to PM me you can do it in dutch :P
So if I was looking for a replacement MB for my 780i which is paired with my 9650 you guys would suggest this?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813128358
i would 100% suggest this board,or get the UD3R if you only plan on one video card.
these boards seem to be made for the sole purpose of OCing Q9650.here is the equation
............Q9650+UD3P+OCing=heaven.........
I'd say that would be a good pick, from what I've read.
It's working great for my Q6600.
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=205132
I already water cool my CPU but are there any extra cooling suggestions for the board itself? NB or SB? Preferably air.
I am speaking toward the UD3 not the 780i.
does anny one know's a good clock skew i tried 0 and 100 for cpu clockskew 0 and 1 also triend 100/200 and 1000/1000 the most stable until now is 0/100...
Hey guys just updated my bios on my gigabyte ep45-ud3p to f10f and she still running great now I feel its the time to push to 4.5 but i dont know if I should go with ddr 1066 and just do a 9 x 500 or should I really push it and get ddr 1200 if so what memory should I get the OCZ Blade pc2 9600 or the g.skill pc2 9600 .. any opinions greatly appreciated
I would go with the 9600PI's also.
Well i tought that its time to re activate this wonderful thread :D
with 30C outside summer here i used my portable AC to push 10C to the rad, room ambient was at 23,2, here are some results

Very nice Sergio.
hey andressergio
I saw what ya said about the gskills 9600 , do you think i would even benefit at 4.0 with a high bandwith vs my tight timmings 4 4 4 10 perf 8 ? with a trfc at 52
hoss331 is helping try to push my current setup but for some reasom im getting locked up , would like your opionion being you really like this board like me and probaly passing over till i9 since your pushing just as fast as a i7 thanks:up:
hola !!! happy new year mate...
yes i see hoss is trying to help all i can say to you mate is having 1200Mhz mem make lots of room for OC, ive seen lots of ppl very limited on OC with 1066mem, etc also gigaboard like some kind of mem, the ones that hoss have are awesome same as this Gskills PI9600, when i bought them costed me a fortune but i dont regret been benching them till 1300 using 2,4+ still runs awesome and run cool than other sticks i saw...
Try them you wont regret
Other thing you gotta consider is that not all chips are the same nor mobos...sometimes you got stucked by something else, thats the reason i prefeer mem that can do great OC even pushing lots of volts on the chip. But this is just inmo.
Cheers
Sergio
thanks sergio make alot of sense hmmm I might just have to hit the button on these , if anything I wont lose performance but i should gain a bit , I looking to stick with this board awhile its really a fantastic board , hopping its not my q9650 hitting its limit at 4.0
a pleasure mate...i been using quads since all this starts, i guess i had 2 duals, dont rememnber, but i discovered that quads push chipset very much and if you dont use mem that are loose that have room you will be limited on OC, thats my finding
blades are very good also but hard to find also they dont like much voltaje, you can strike the gskills till 2,5 wont hurt them
Cheers mate
Sergio
How important is it to have a low VID? I noticed my VID is 1.2250. Is this bad? The highest I can hit is 4.25GHz stable. Anything higher and 1 core always fails no matter how much vCore I add :(
Normally for very high overclocks it's more benificial if you have a low VID as the chip is actually binned as one that requires less voltage needs for it's stock speeds. When overclocking this assists us by having a larger voltage margin for overclocking. Your 1.225v chip is not a bad chip at all, It's just not one of the very low VID chips which means that overclocking to really high frequencies would more than likely require voltages way beyond Intels safe specs.
My Q9650 is a 1.225V VID if I remember correctly and it will do 4.91GHz at around 1.57V. It seems like it would run prime95 at 4.5Ghz and 1.42V but I never bothered to stability test extensively.(I think I did 15 minutes of prime at 4.7GHz 1.52V before the temperatures were in the high 80s. Its been too long since I tried to push it further.)
Don't be worried about a little bit higher VID.
sean222, with more voltage and the right settings you can get it past 4.25.
I had a regular Q9650 and with 1.65vcore it did 4.7 and 4.8 on water and maxed out around 4.95ghz on subzero.
I concur, mine's a 1.2 which seems to be about the average, but it can go past 5ghz, and bench at ~4.9 on water.
I have 1,2875 VID CPU and last night past 4,9 GHz for max CPU-Z,
bench at ~ 4,8 GHz, all on air (cold air - open window) and vcore around 1,60-1,65 V
http://hwbot.org/community/submissio...hz_4923.84_mhz
:):)
That's what I was thinking :(
Glad to see a 1.225 VID can go that fast :)
Yea, you're right, but my cooling is not adequate to push 1.6+ volts.
ZOMG, you guys are getting amazing speeds...so it's not my VID then :( It's me :( LoL.
Actually I think it's my cooling, although I have water cooling, I only have a Feser 240 rad...AND my overclocked GTX 295 is in the loop! :( It generates a lot of heat that my CPU pays for :( I have another rad (MCR-220)...maybe I can make another loop.
Ok ok, so now that I know that it's possible to go faster, would it be safe to run at 1.5v or 1.6v 24/7? (with OK water cooling) I'm enjoying 4.25 @ 1.375, but 4.5 (24/7) was my goal a long time ago! Haven't made it there yet :(
Thanks :D
1.6v 24/7 is in no way safe, but I guess you have to ask yourself how much you care if it does degrade after awhile. By the time it degrades enough to be problematic, you could probably just upgrade platforms anyway. No way of telling how long that will be though. Intel absolute max is 1.45v IIRC, but depending on how you interpret their spec sheet, this may or may not be safe to use. Running high volts is also hard on the mobo VRM so it will need good cooling.
You must have found an ES since thats the same batch as mine.
andressergio,congrats on your x3380 5Ghz goodness:up:
whats the vid on that one?
Congrats on the new chip Sergio.
Should get that chip on phase or DICE/LN2 asap :)
OK here's some test, heat outside is killer over 33C im on AC at 23,9 Ambient Room not pointing to the PC just let the ambient cools to 24C as a reference
X3380@ 4009(422x9,5) at vcore load 1,184 / idle 1,2
http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/511...951125cust.jpg
i got temp diferences as u can see, Realtemp and Coretemp shows more, and Everest HWinfo, Hwmonitor show less, so i dont know who to believe...either way the chip is cooler than my vid 1,1875
Cheers
Sergio
Very nice temps there. Scary start up vcore in easy tune though! 1.50v! That's no way to treat a lady ;)
lmao that was for trying 4905 wich booted lol, easy tune saves that i dont know where
also been testing this
http://img137.imageshack.us/img137/4...pl9bootdes.jpg
Ah ok. Looks like you will be having some fun with it anyway, congrats.
great fun
i managed to drop vcore i love this chip :o) see how programs reports temps in dif way

I'm glad to see you're enjoying the new toy. Looks like the new chip does 4ghz without breaking a sweat, very nice Sergio.
i have exact the same voltages stable with my Q9550 VID 1.1375. but looks promising
Hey Sergio those volts looking good so far in you et6 and cpu - id cant wait to see what that xeon going to do
Thanks Tony
lol ET6 keeps remembering my first boot at 4817 lol with all volts i used...dont know how to make it read same as im using
Newer version of ET6 are crap...i installed a B09 one but i remember i've used a very good one B08 ish...that i dont have anymore
Cheers
Sergio
That's very nice for a first boot mate - didn't know about this thread...
1.40 for vtt is absolutely lovely for 4.8....means the CHIP will last...:D:D
where did you get your's from if I may ask????:shrug::shrug:
Thanks:up:
