Make sure your CPU cooling isn't over tight for any of the mounting brackets, sometimes when the mounting is over tight it can cause a quirk where the memory isn't detected as dual channel.
Oh, here is a new EtronTech driver sent to me by one of my contacts, v1.1. I'm told it should fix some problems with some of the problem devices reported.
CLICKY
Thanks.
I will test it this afternoon.
I have already read good things about this driver. It appears that it has resolved the random BSOD for one user. sevenforums
Good to know :) I'll try to get around to testing the driver as well but I have some tests to finish up for Asrock first.
@ Ket or anyone that can help... I just tested my Pcie2 and 4 which are supposed to run at 16x. So heres the problem i have a single 5770 and when run in the pcie2 slot runs 16x fine but when i move it down to 4 because 2 is way to close to my heatsink pcie4 which is alos supposed to run 16x only runs as 8x im very confused and kinda upset about this
Welp just read that pcie4 only does 8x only that makes no sense can someone explain
This is off the website
PCI Express 2.0 x16 3 x PCI Express 2.0 x16 slots (PCIE2/PCIE4: single at x16 or dual at x8/x8 mode; PCIE5: x4 mode)
doesnt that mean 2 and 4 run at 16x single card or 8x dual correct me if im wrong that means there is a prob with my pcie4 lane correct ????
I have tested the new driver and I have to say it is excellent.
The following devices work correctly:
-Technotrend USB2 S-2400 satellite TV tuner,
-Technotrend USB2 S2-3600 satellite TV tuner,
-Technotrend USB2 S2-3650 satellite TV tuner,
-Nokia E52 phone.
(My Logitech C905 webcam has worked perfectly since driver version 0.98.)
The only device which has failed the test it is the one equipped with the famous JMicron chip:
Silicon Power Armor A80 USB 3.0 HDD (with JMicron JMS539 chip)
I tend to believe this is due to design flaws in the JMicron chip.
I have replaced this enclosure with another having an ASMedia chipset, which works flawlessly.
I have to thank to EtronTech, Asrock and to you Ket for your help.
Both the Extreme4 and Extreme6 have a PLX chip which adds extra PCI-E lanes without too much latency, but there is still some limitation. AFAIK if using 3 graphics cards the configuration will be 8x8x4. Leaving a few lanes free for any other devices connected to PCI-E 1x slots or running through/on the PCI-E bus such as onboard audio might do.
Tnx. from that thread:
#1:
"MB: ASRock H67M-GE, B3 stepping, Bios v1.4
RAID card: LSI MegaRAID SATA/SAS 9261-8i, Latest Firmware"
NOT working but chipset is not p67.
#2:
"I have an LSI 8408E PCIe 1.x 8x RAID card and it works fine in either PCIe 16x slot on my P67 Extreme6 since the original release. I guess it depends on the hardware Option ROM."
Dont feel like being guinea pig, but I couldnt now because the raid is planned for 1Q 2012 :D. If the mobo still doesnt support it by then, i'll have to replace it.
The board uses electronic switching gates. To clarify; does the card get reported as running at 16x when the card is in slot 1 and in slot 2? It shouldn't matter if the graphics card is in PCI-E slot 1 or 2 as bandwidth will only be split between both slots when a graphics card is detected in both slots. I'm assuming you have run driver cleaner and installed latest PCH (9.2.0.1030) and graphics drivers?
ED - To correct myself now I know exactly what's being asked; Top = 16x, middle = 8x, bottom = 4x, dual graphics = 8x8.
correct so having it in slot 4 should see it as 16x so there is something wrong here...i found the 1030 and installed it but still nothing still giving me 8x on pcie4 and pcie2 gives my 16x fine...... like i said pcie4 is supposed to run at 16x single card... and its not soo how do i trouble shoot this or is it a board flaw and i should contact newegg ??
No, the bottom PCI-E slot does not operate at 16x, it gets its PCI-E lanes from the P67 chipset, which is why I always say the bottom PCI-E slot is good for a PhysX card ;)
ED - This screen should help explain things;
Ok i dont think you understand me i have no card but the 5770 there is pcie2 and pcie4 which both should run at 16x with a single card... and my pcie4 slot is only running at 8x so there is def somthing wrong there.... cause i can put it in pcie2 and get 16x but its way to close to the heatsink....... thus why i moved it down because the asrock website says pcie2 and 4 single card 16x 2 cards 8x 8x so why am i only getting 8x on pcie4 when pcie2 works just fine
This is exactly what i mean and its not working
This is off the website
PCI Express 2.0 x16 3 x PCI Express 2.0 x16 slots (PCIE2/PCIE4: single at x16 or dual at x8/x8 mode; PCIE5: x4 mode)
pcie2/4 single 16x and 4 is only coming in as 8x no matter what i do
Ok, heres a diagram. Mark what the highlighted PCI-E slots are being seen as. I don't have a Extreme6 to hand so I need to cobble bits together.
>Nw0rb
Unfortunately this is the way pci-e switching is implemented. When the board detects anything in PCIE4 it switches to 8x/8x mode and you cannot control this. No 16x in PCIE4 even when PCIE2 is free. More: no 16x/1x (PCIE2/PCIE4) mode which is stupid waste of resources if you ask me.
So im stuck at running 8x in a 16x slot that makes no frickn sense why would they do that........
@ket 5770 is in pcie4 the second blue one and it supposed to be running at 16x but the guy above stated that it wont it only runs at 8x i hope this sint true
^ That actually explains what Nw0rb was trying to a lot clearer :D
@ Nw0rb; Yes that is how automatic electronic gate switching works. Top: 16x, middle (when populated): 8x (regardless) Bottom: 4x. When using dual graphics both upper PCI-E slots switch to 8x mode. Otherwise you can look at the slots individually working at 16/8/4.
The reason is the number of electrical lanes implemented for pcie4 and the board complexity as a result.
Can someone help me get to 5ghz? I highly doubt I will use it 24/7 but it would make me feel better :P
I was at 4.8ghz using the CPU load line calibration at level 4 +.065v (offset). Stable after 1 hour of LinX with "All" checked. Increased that all the way to .1v to get to 5ghz yet it still kept crashing 2 seconds after starting Prime95.
Other voltages:
DRAM: 1.545v
PCH: auto
CPU PPL: 1.750v
VTT: 1.181v
VCCSA: auto
RAM is OCed to 1866 with 13+ timings (auto OC option)
All power saving things are enabled which probably doesn't help me but I would like to keep all that stuff on.
I haven't tried 4.9ghz since I felt like I could jump to 5ghz without too much problem.
And why can't I take screenshots of the UEFI? Is an external hard drive not a USB storage device?
1. The chip sounds like its probably at its limit
2. USB storage devices need to be formatted to FAT16 or FAT32.
@ Ket or anyone that can answer. Ok so i installed gtx 460's in sli everything went great but now when i boot up not so much a big deal but it hangs at b2 on debug display. so it goes threw the numbers then hangs on b2 for a second not super long just wondering if this is normal says that its Legacy Option ROM Initialization i dont know what that means or if i can turn it off.
Look in the UEFI, there is a legacy rom option ;) I have another 460 I can hook up for SLI, but what you are describing sounds normal. I'll get around to checking in a day or two.
I cant find the legacy rom option in uefi
