Will TITAN AMANDA TEC COOLLER be enough for overclocking a G0? I know it would dissipate tons of heat, since it is quad core...
Many overclocks around 3.6-3.8 are on good air coolers with load on prime95 around 65-70c. The latest HSF are very good and dont have the TEC downsides of high power consumption and PC case heat problems. Course if you already have an Amanda - give it a go and see what the temps are like when you o/c the CPU. Post the results.
Hmz I can get the LP somewhere, but the UT is out of stock atm, So I was wondering if the cooling ( regarding the seperate NB/SB/PWM sinks) are good enough, considering the Heatpipes on the UT really works ( as I heared from a few). Maybe adding some 40-60 mm fan on them if needed. Or shall I just wait another 1-2 weeks when the UT are back on stock?
Forgive the stupid question, but is completing super-pi calculations equivalent to a stable OC?
I always thought it had to be Prime/Orthos stable for multiple hours?
If I'm wrong, what program can be run/completed to call one's OC "stable?"
Thanks.
I believe everyone on here accepts Prime 95 for at least 8 hours before calling it stable. Others might say 12 hours.
I usually run mine 8 or longer.
anyone know how good L731 chips are
What would you guys say is the highest safe vCore to use daily on water ( fuzion,pa120.3) ?
That said I have just read this review http://www.legionhardware.com/document.php?id=689 which basically says that the x38 MBs are not worth the cost as a performance upgrade against the P35 unless you specifically want to build a system with crossfire HD 2900XTs.
My G0 under Tuniq Tower. Unfortunately 467 is max FSB for this proc on air :(

New BIOS 0402 released for those overclocking with a P5K Premium.

Seems to resolve most of the hard drive issues except for samsung. May also have other improvements which will help overclocks - I hope!
Dear sesdave,
Thanks for all the links and other information. I read them all.
I am using Kingston HyperX DDR2 4GB, HX6400D2LLK2/2G, Specs PC2-6400 CL4 +2.0V. I can run this memory at about 455 @ 1.25v -4-5-5-12.
I have decided that a 9x 360 OC is the best overclock for me. I considered both 3.24 and 3.44. I found that with (P5B-D) my motherboard, gaining the extra .20 GHz was just not worth taking this CPU out of Vcore specs.

I think I am getting the performance I need. I will have to see what others are testing at.

I just fired up my Q6600 build on an Asus Premium on water and made a few changes in the bios and set the vcore at 1.45 for 425x9 then loaded windows at 3825mhz without a problem. It was the fastest windows install I have ever seen and put a massive smile on my face. Chip is a L726A849 SLACR from TankGuys. Once I load all the drivers I will try that new Bios and see what else this thing can do. Very happy so far though.
Just threw together a new box without researching parts as much as usual (needed it quickly), and to my satisfaction I ended up with a nice "G0". I'm running on air @ 400x9 and 1.3875v on the cpu as you can see in my signature! Nice & quick!
Also, does anyone know of a reliable cpu temperature application for Vista x64? Speedfan give me seemingly incorrect temperatures (they look much too low).
Vista x64 - first apply ldisable driver signing command http://www.tcmagazine.com/forums/ind...showtopic=2548 = may not work anymore if you have applied update : KB932596 but try it anyway!
Coretemps 95.4 beta for CPU with a fix for vista x64 driver signing. If the disable CMD doesnt work remember to run bat file each time nefore you start Coretemp.exe or it will loop on driver load http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...8&postcount=43
Everest ultimate for everything - load and select computer/sensor to display all temperatures available on MB sensors http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/...-Edition.shtml
