Just got back the 1st. place on SuperPi again. Man that was hard to beat because after the Country Cup Competition crazy Ociers all over the world submitted their Q9650_Spi1m run's, the WR was lowered by 0.200ms.
So here's my latest run:

Also lowered my wPrime32m:

Need only 500points on PCMark05 to get this thing wrapped
Congrats Jor, excellent job!!
 Nice run there Jor3lBR, and congrats.
Very nice runs! Jor , question though did you down clock it for the spi ss because you have it listed as a 5ghz run on the bot?
Thanks for the kind words guys
Hoss at those speeds and tight timings you have to downclock the cpu otherwise it will freeze on the SS. I would say that they were around 553 - 556 fsb.
My CPU container for LN2 will be ready soon. Wait, Jor
My and my friend too: no matter -40 or +40 :)Quote:

Did you have something extra running in the background when testing that time? On mine there is less than 1GF difference between running it at 1:1 916 vs. 5:6 1099, both do around 57Gflops.
As you might be able to guess, I finally got my UD3P - great board so far!

Weeeee!!!
'tis indeed, and so chuffed I finally smashed my old 10.062 pi record (and with a quad!):D. I'm now half way through a loop of prime blend at 4.5GHz. Easytune makes life so much easier once you figure out how the refs actually work. Plus there's the fact that it behaves consistently - such an important factor. I plan to solve the lack of sensors & fan headers by getting me one of these. Then I'll gut out the case and route everything nice & tidy, and will actually be able to keep a near silent, closely monitored system again. Right now my rads are down by 2, but everything seems to be holding up ok. Will be back with more speed soon! :D
wow in-fluence great job with your Q9650.at least the MaxII wasnt a total waste,it really helps fine tuning
the OCing skills.kind of like learning on an acoustic guitar and then playing an electric for the first time.
Thanks dude :)
I couldn't have put it better myself with regards to the MaxII. It was a nice, pretty board with bundles of great features, but I doubt I'll waste any more time on it and will probably sell it while it's still worth something.
Just sold my lapped Q6600 too and given it a nice polish. Used it for 2 years and pretty much sold it for the same price i bought it. Was tempted to give it another try in my new board, but I can't make the guy wait.... can I? :ROTF:
I'm now spoilt for choice with what to try for next though... highest stable o/c? or highest fsb? or maybe get my old reapers in there and go for some pi benching?
yep your going to have a lot of fun this holiday season
so many possibilities:D
I made a small improvement in results, but I think
that my MBO has came close to maximum FSB
or, I am just a n00b and I do not know how ...:confused: for now

Finally got 550 FSB, but had to stop going further due to water pump stopping and PC repeadtedly shutting off !
I'm assuming it's the dodgy 12v atx connector I thought I'd fixed
Got to the login screen for 557, but then I started getting the shutdowns...
I'm giving the board a rest tonight after that little blast which turned out quite risky, so I'm gonna tighten up 500x9 which I've now got stable. :D
PS, can you run lower than PL9 on 1:1 at 500FSB UD3P? Any recommendations for the drive strength at this speed too?
If your ram can do cas4 you should be able to drop down to PL8 on 2.00D.
yep what hoss331 said.400 strap 2.00D pl8 cas4 was good up 520fsb for me if i remember correctly.
Hmm, looks like I'll be on the hunt for better sticks again. Mine wouldnt go a notch over 1162 unless I loosened some of the sub-timings on the MIIF, might be different here, but I know that board wasn't so bad for memory. Might be able to lower cas to 4 though - will this board simply not post unless cas 4 is set?
Anyway, the most I could push ot of it was 560FSB
I go a bit carried away with the volts and decided not to push further. Jor3lbr, What kind of MCH volts did you use? I was hovering around 1.74....

http://valid.canardpc.com/cache/screenshot/887013.png
Like I said, I'd be biting at your heels, but that 6MHz is a long way away though, and as for max speed, I couldn't get past login at 450x9 - will get back to that another day :D
Well, after another evening of tweaking, I managed to get 4953MHz. Just 2 off 10th place in the hwbot rankings (which I've just discovered and am pleased to see a few of you lot are on). I also nudged down my 1M PI time a little:

http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z...nShot002-1.jpg
Pretty proud of myself as this is my first proper kind of opportunity to OC without much limiting me (except lack of a chiller / liquid nitrogen), but I've gotta say that if you intend to overclock these CPUs, then the UD3 range is king. Sorry to nudge you down andressergio, but it does take a lot of tweaking to get into this territory, so kudos to you, and Huuuuge kudos to Jor3lbr!
Once not long ago (actually just before i got my i7) i had a q9650 it was an excelent chip it got me to 4.6ghz on water
In-Fluence,wow thats just awesome.you've got a great chip there.
its great to see what it can do in the right board:up:
soon you might be getting some WR's
Hehe, I see you're up there too linuxfan. Nice work on 5+GHz - I'll try and get back to it at some point as my system is 2 fans down at the moment. It's been snowing here too and is freezing out so I'm tempted to get the fans running , open the windows and do a 'chilled room' run tomorrow which might help matters..
To help me on the way, I had settings saved for 535x9 and moved up with setfsb from there. What kind of volts were most of you guys using to acheive your goals? I'll post a bunch of settings of mine sometime soon when I have a nice load of saved profiles :D
I'm trying for 530x8.5 linx stable at the moment. CPU is fine but getting the NB stable is tricky. 500x9 is P95 stable. The only trouble is that I'm getting shutdowns during both - is this indicative of too low vcore or something worse?
Hey, MCH not over 1.62 will be good till 5Ghz, now PLL is another story. So you forgot your Asus yet?! :D
Great results bud  It does take a LOT of time and cod weather to get to sub 9.7s on Spi1m, very nice and continue to push and have fun with this extraordinary board
I did not have a cherry picked, low VID chip whatsoever.
You don't WANT to know what kind of voltage I put through that CPU.
I think I had the CPU Vcore at 1.7v in the BIOS with the MCH at 1.7 or 1.8?
Got some good scores anyway. :p:
A cold room and more vcore should help you a little to get it to around 4.9ghz for superpi.
I got real lucky with the chip I think, and considering how well it clocked with low volts I thought I had a chance of getting some good max clocks. 5GHz was just out of reach on this attempt though. Eventually, the right board got me to see its real potential though and I'm very pleased :)
I didn't really try highest speed with superpi, just from the highest I used to boot with, I'll continue to have a blast tomorrow for some sub 9.5 runs. I also have a pair of reasonably speedy reapers which should help at a higher divider.
(nice colour fluid btw :D)
I'll take the MCH hint on board, thanks for that
I noticed a lot of your stable runs are with really low vtt which seems to be where I fall down - I need 1.34 to keep 500x9 stable, and have gone to around 1.5v for 550+.
Totally forgot my 'Arseus' :ROTF: - it's packed away in a bow as new, ready to be sold. I'm holding out for a bit longer as I want make sure I still have a half-decent backup if I blow this board up, as the only other alternative is a P5N32-E SLI
I've still a few things to do before I go for a run that I would consider my best attempt..
I need to lap my cpu for starters - the surface is VERY uneven. There's about 35-40% of one side that barely comes into contact with a thin layer of paste, so I have to put plenty on at the moment.
Next is to get mosfet blocks (any suggestions welcome), and maybe put in a 2nd loop to keep the CPU cooled seperately.
Finally, thanks for all the feedback - all good fun! :D
Just got 4th place in wprime 32 :D
http://hwbot.org/listResults.do?cpuM...true&limit=100
In-Fluence,congrats man.so many possibilities, and so many records to be broken.keep pushin!!!!
So, came the cold days and even cooler nights, so I finally decided to open a window and put the component on the window sills.
Wrapped in a blanket, only virila my hand was out and held the mouse.;);)
These are the achievements:

now i go to bed
here is 5.20 AM
good night
@E-Mil:
Try Vista 64 and wPrime 2.0 and you'll get higher scores.
I meant to say this is happening during linx, and that CPU temps are hitting around 72-75°.... Any help here would be gratefully received.
@ Grisheko45
For 500x9 I used the following voltages:
vcore: 1.43125 (1.376)
mch core: 1.4 (may be able to lower)
VTT: 1.34
PLL: 1.5
CPU Reference: (one notch abover default - can't remember what this becomes)
NB Reference: Default
vDimm 1.9 (1.88)
All other voltages were left on auto.
Clock drive & skews & were set to 1000/1000/0/50 (drives may be able to go lower, but not tested) Skews were quite crucial to getting stable - make sure you try combinations to find your own best ones - for me, 100/150 worked just as well, and 150/150 seemed better for higher speeds - particularly for 540+ fsb.
I'll get around to posting a bunch of templates after I've found a few that work well for me - I've not really got any final stable settings finalised at the moment except this one, and I also have some xmas shopping to do so might be a day or so ;)
@ E-Mil - congrats on your runs! You've only made me decide to get my reapers out later on! I see you got quite a bit faster than me at lower CPU MHz, I'll have to try some of these runs in safe mode - watch this space. :D
Wohoo i can join the 4,5ghz club with my q9650 :D Just tried a 4,5 run for fun. Adjusted the vcore and the memory. And it's a 1.225VID and has gone through 2 3dmark 06's.. lol.
Here's a pic of it.. Oh it's on air, a true with a koolance fan, and a ga-ep45-ud3p rev 1.6 FD bios
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...g/4500mhz2.jpg
PiFast - 1st place! I knew keeping hold of these reapers was a good idea :D
So, erm, yeh - why not join the team? Thanks for the invite, I'll gracefully accept - I'm honoured :D
Umm... thats SuperPi not PiFast
Yup, totally my bad! The offending entry was deleted. I somehow was under the impression I was up for a first place as your top time was displayed as 9.6 seconds when it should have read 9.06 - I should have looked more carefully! I managed a 9.517 which got me 18th, but I wanna keep pushing, and will probably have another go in due time.
I've had a few problems due to corruption at the moment. It seems system information isn't working properly - things like mobo name not showing on CPU-Z and windows experience index not working at all, and MSinfo32.exe taking up a whole CPU until I remove it in task manager - all of which really don't help my cause. Unless I can find a quick fix - I'll probably be held back until I get everything backed up and reinstalled, but I wanna see the magic 5GHz before the hols are over, that's for sure.
I've now joined the team btw - hopefully I'll be able to contribute some goodness for y'all :D
Hi all got a question what does the CPU Clock amplitude do? its stock at 800mv here will it help me with stability and is it safe to change?
CPU Clock amplitude on BIOS with Q9650?
Q9550 i have a DFI Lanparty DK P45 T2RS+ ..
http://i45.tinypic.com/11h58oo.png
came so far but not stable when i run prime it gets to 70 degrees on 4.25GHz @ 1.312 v low vid chip means alot of heat..
and it worker 1 stops after 8 minutes and worker 2 after 11...
Update : 4.25 GHz looks stable but runs verry hot 73 degrees... same vcore as above.
i hope to get it stable on lower vcore since its a low vid chip (A)
i have the same board as you DUCKY trying increasing the NB voltage.. maybe you can run it on lower vcore....
Guys
I wish you a Merry Xtreme Xmas for you and your families from this part of the world
I wish to thank all for the great help on this thread that i received
Cheers to all
