Couldve been hard to erase the background since that would need to use a wider aperture. Doing that would take out the arms and elbows if the focal point was on the hands. Good picture though.

Nice one pogiman.
Picked up a mint condition Komine-made Vivitar for 20USD a week or so ago - so far it's been a nice sharp lens and has excellent bokeh (less-than-common 8 bladed aperture version)

Must be doing some interesting filming with that thing!
some movie some live view shooting.
actually works really great as a "off to the side" lcd monitor on your computer.
native res is like 800x480 but it accepts up to 1080p input.
has HDMI, DVI, VGA and Composite inputs.
so i use it with the HDMI on my T2i or DVI to HDMI on my PC
i have a nice tiny (little bigger than a pack of smokes) battery pack that gives me anywhere from 8-12 hours of use.
i tested it watching a movie on my pc and got over 9 hours.
I'm sorry.

I have been using a crappy monitor in past 2 weeks and didn't dare to post any pictures, but finally got my hand on a new one.
A NEC EA231WMi, with IPS-panel and great colors. Still trying to adjust it, but looks great already :) Just in time to see great colors of autumn.

Nice photo.. and even nicer subjects.
Just found a ICC Profile for my new NEC EA231WMi, and WOW, all colors are so amazing now. I've been using TN-Panel for too long, but finally can see how my pictures really looks like. :) They look real, LOL.

i think the only reason i like this one is because the purple flowers in the background accent the yellow chewed up main flower.

here is one of the purple flower with the yellow blurred, unfortunately not the same position.

no need for two shots just use PS burn tool and burn/darken the sky
Fall colors in Maine are slow in coming this year:
http://shazza53.smugmug.com/Travel/M...47_gDMtv-L.jpg
Yeah I'm still having fun and learning, but I looked trough other shots from the same spot, and they sky is white. There is small layer of white clouds over the area. I could lift the camera to get the blue which is higher up, but then I would miss those ducks.
EDIT:
Here you can see what I mean.

6:15, walk out of the office and the man in the moon says "take my picture"
was using my old 135mm f/2.8 Sears lens, so was very hard to get a clean shot as i was not using live view but it turned out ok
used photoshop burn tool on the upper sky and the dodge tool on the middle cloud and the mon to bring it out a little more.
jpeg compression is killing it though, too much color banding.
have a bunch sent to walgreens to print on cheap paper before i do some nice matte paper.
one for 8x10 (print will use the full size i have)

Just out of curiosity.. do you have some RAW for this lovely moon shot?
mesca, wish i did man, sorry. i dont shoot raw very often because for some reason my PS will BSOD my PC when i mess with RAW files, and yes... i am lazy. i think all i need to do is reinstall it.
i will get you links to the originals, a couple of them to let you choose from and maybe blend together.
here is another one, since it is a new day.
it wasnt my intention to keep the tower when i took the shot but after some auto contrast/color/tone and some increase of the input level on auto levels i like it! burnt the sky a little, dodged the clouds a little and a tiny history brush too.

Great moon shots Lestat.
Sorry guys, been away since a long time, my motherboard died on me, so after waiting for about 3 weeks for the board to be repaired, I went ahead and bought a new one, cause I was impatient, I am back after a month now.
Will keep up with the pictures from now on.

Wel here's one i took wit my D5000 and 24-70mm nikor lens. I haven't taken to many pics at night or of the moon, so excuse the quality..
Used a preset setting for night pics. Oh yeah, the snow has arrived :dammit:
http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1048/...2e4670f8_b.jpg
i am actually very impressed with it. chromatic aberation is nonexistant on this lens which is shocking really. i expected some, especially on the moon shots but there is none... zero
i will take some more shots in the coming days/nights with the lens to show off more than just how well it takes moon shots but i just havent had time lately.
i just dont think i could spend $600 plus for it given the 70-200 F/4L is only about $50 more... i think i would Def. take the L. but the 70-300 image stabilizer is nice. and it def. works very well.

the snow has arrived
@Lestat: dude, you make me wanna get that lens right now lol :) So nice man
if you know someone who has it ask to borrow it.. its a lot nicer than i expected.... i thin its a pretty fast lense too given its 70-300 ...
IS is noisy but not THAT bad, i had heard louder.
but really... for just about the same price the 70-200 F/4 L non IS is available.
and which would you rather have... better IQ or more focal length and IS ...
some might find that tough, i dont. and i rarely would use the full 300mm but i can see where ti would come in handy.
here is tonights moon using my old Sigma 100-300mm F/4.5-6.3 DL
i actually dont know how old it is, i have had it for a couple of years.
pretty soft but can be usable at times. think i paid maybe $75 on eGay.
i have never really sat down and tested just how soft it is at F/8 and up but i cant imagine its very sharp past F/8
it shows its softness quite well on my T2i lol.
and for anyone wanting something really neat.... here is latnights moon dont the way I like it....
