first make a bootable usb stick. inside the usb stick put afudos from Asus and your bios. now at boot press F8 and choose your usb stick. when afudos load put this command and press enter to start:
afudos /iXXX.ROM /pbnc /n
where XXX the name of bios like
afudos /i0704.ROM /pbnc /n
and you are ok.
hope to help you.
^ LOL
I was able to boot at 236x17 on the i7 960 using qpi link-slow. I never really cared much about trying for max bclk but its fun to try.
@kill a wat, Im not sure at the moment what my settings were but I will be back on that board tomorrow. I had flashed the bios to 0704, also enabled the LLC jumper and after that is when I noticed the drop in gflops, Im not sure what caused it, but it seems to be the same on 3 different chips, 2 920's and a 960. I wasnt sure if a setting in the bios had caused it or if it was the new bios, or the LLC jumper.
I am trying to see if I can boot at the same bclk on the UD7 as I did on the re3. So far 232x17 Is tops, weird thing is setting the QPI link to slow didnt help on the UD7, but made a big difference on the re3. Im not using the same chip so its not fair to compare.

I just peaked tonight :)

However, my 3D scores are awful. Anyone know how to get a high BCLK without QPI Slow Mode?
I have normal LinX flops with BIOS 0704.
Bloomfield should deliver 12.6GFlops/GHz even if uncore/ram is very low.
Usually it delivers at least 13GFlops/GHz, or it does not stress the processor properly.
Intel Linpack has over 10% run-to-run gflops variation.
IMHO, you can use Core/Real Temp to check it: if current run's temp is 3C less than highest temp ever, it's not a stressful run.
In this way, there's no need to wait for LinX to finish one run.
That's why it's called slow mode :p, it's only good for 2D runs...
Bclock is a lot dependant on the CPU itself... a good board can't make a bad CPU fly.
Mess with the CPU and IOH skews, that should unleash a few more clocks... I'm at 233Bclock with Gamer's 3540 under air, under LN2 it does 238... even my crap 950 can do 228 fairly easily.
I am having trouble with my R3E. Other day I setup my hardware. BIOS 0402, Intel i7 930, Corsair Dominator GT 2000C7, nVidia GTX 285 and Enermax Revolution 1250. My cooling setup is Noctua NH-D14. When I had first boot everything was fine. I started installing Win XP to my hard drive when installation was on %29, motherboard restarted itself. Now it won't post, no screen, no sound. It hangs on "CPU Initial" state as shown on ROG Poster. Doesn't shutdown or reset. ROG Tweakit shows that 'Remote computer is locked".
CPU is working fine, I tested on other motherboard. I reseated CPU, RAMs and VGA. Nothing changed. The only thing that weird is HDD led light is steady on while no HDD is connected to motherboard. I am using mb on cardbox with anti-static bag underneath.
Any ideas?
check for bent pins? you using the red or black sata slots?
Try the 2nd bios chip?
No bent pins on CPU socket, black sata cables, tried second bios already. No change.

My experience was that even getting a new board from RMA didn't fix the issue.
This is another try to at linx and gflops are garbage. Maybe it is something I am doing wrong but I have no idea what it is. Core 3's temp is always lower than core 0 1 2 at any speed I run it at on 3 different cpu's but if
I put any of the chips back in my other X58 they all run normal.

Hey Elano, thanks I will try that and see how it works and post back.
This chip runs 57-58 gflops consistantly on my other board, stable at 4500mhz 1.392vcore 1.34vtt so I am pretty sure it isnt Linx screwing up.
I know it is a fairly new board and maybe I am expecting a lot, but this isnt ecaxtly a budget board.
Tried with HT disabled, gflops are closer to normal but still a little low for no HT.

Took another screen, I noticed in realtemp it shows I keep losing turbo mode.

"CPU Turbo Power Limit-Allows you to activate or deactivate the CPU Turbo Power Limit. If you want to keep Turbo mode ratio, remember to disable C1E and TM functions at the same time. Configuration options: [Disable] [Enabled]"
Have tried both ways, enabled and disabled to see if there was any difference but same results.
EDIT, when running Everest and RealTemp at the same time it gets flaky. When I just used RealTemp the multi stayed at a constant 21 but gflops are still a little low, 53.5.
Also trying a 3x1gb kit of hyperX it will not read all 3 sticks, but on 2 other 3x2gbkit it is fine.
I will try this again in a month or 2, hopefully after some better bios's come out, but for now its giving me a major headache.
Which is the bios on chip 2 ? why not have that one for a spin OC Nub ? Maybe the Turbo mode is fubarred since 0602... never use it anyway when clocking... would be nice to see what settings you are running so I can try to reproduce it somehow.
@OC Nub
I guess that it is the BIOS or Windows is throttling CPU for power saving or protection?
Have you tried x20/x19 multiplier(or maybe lower frequency+lower vcore) to check GFlops?
Also run LinX with less memory, e.g. 4G?
And maybe a new Windows install?
I will try the 19 multi tonight and see if it is any better. I have gone back to 0602 and 0402 but no change. I will try these suggestions tonight, thanks.
I have tried switching to bios chip 2, tried different bios's, and tried using less memory but still the same. I would try installing windows again but this install is only a few days old. Ill keep messing with it and see what happens.
