It is Thermalright getting ready with the bracket for this card?
Further to my previous post, I did try the Scythe Musashi heatsink. To fit on the GTX460 Sonic Platinum six of the fins needed their middles removed to make way for the DVI connectors, and the (glued-on) heatpipe ends needed removal, followed by the grating of the PCI bracket, so they could just peep through.
Verdict? I found the Musashi disappointing. Its temps weren't really better than stock and could even creep higher, it did cool the VRMs better though.
So, as I'd mentioned I'd try to, I succeeded in fitting a CoolIT ECO ALC to my Palit card instead. :D

The 53mm square mounting points actually sit directly on the plastic surround of the ALC's waterblock, so not only do you need to make the brackets (hastily dremeled from an old baking tray, here) but you must sand down the plastic corners of the waterblock so they're not in the way of the bolts.
After that though, the large, flat square base fully covers the GTX 460 chip and its lid. The Musashi did not, though I'm fairly certain it covered most of the silicon itself (haven't delidded to check).
Because of the square nature of the mount the water block can be mounted in any orientation. I found it best with the piping facing the VRMs, then I was able to mount the radiator on the back of the case just like one would normally.

Temps? Idles between 27-30 degrees.
Load tips out at 60 degrees, 900/1800/4000MHz @ 1.125V! Yes, 1.125V... my chip wasn't a good one :( games tend to run slightly cooler than Kombustor, perhaps 55ish?
60c under water, this isnt that good ...

Yeah, but it's not really water, is it? Look at the size of the radiator, too. The CoolIT ECO is not designed to compete with proper watercooling kits.
Having said that, it's nearly thirty degrees cooler than all my air-cooling attempts with this card, and I can finally hit 900MHz (crap chip, remember), and it's silent. I am, for now, content :D

I assume your Asus cards are reference? If so that won't work. Gabe (Swiftech CEO) says that the MCW80 GTX460 brackets are still a couple of weeks away.
You could also get two full cover XSPC blocks for about the same money. Although you wouldn't be able to use them on a videocard later on.

Cause GF100 never interested me. The efficiency is just to bad. YES it would be better with 2 GTX470 (performance wise)..... but WCing the GTX470/480 is just not an option, its NEEDED. 2 GTX470 + waterblocks ... its never ending !
Im mostly waiting for the GTX475/485 to see if they worth selling 2 of my cards and keep a GTX460 as PhysX.

And 925MHZ, 1.087 isn't all that bad. Flash the bios and take the Vgpu a bit higher.

^^ Actually the gpu's run cool but the vrm area of the card felt rather hot, so I thought I would give this a try. If that didnt fix it I would just sell them and go back to my crossfire setup. Spending a small fortune to cool a mid level gpu makes no sense to me, would be better off to spend the money on a higher end card, unless you are benching for boints at hardwarebot or something like that.
I've noticed that too, my Asus GTX460s are burning up at the VRM area and I've even lapped the VRM heatsink and used some AS Ceramique instead of the crappy thermal pad. Beyond that would be better lapping and keeping just the VRM heatsink and using screws instead of the rather odd backplate with pushpins Asus have chosen to use. On the plus side I can do 855MHz @ 1.05v.
^ Does your board have the large space between the cards like on some other Asus boards? I went back to the Gigabyte UD7 from the R3E, slots 1&3 are very close on the UD7 and the cards are almost touching each other. I can see a 10c difference between the top and bottom card. I will probably put them back in the R3E, temps are more even and cooler.
