Hey Rise,
I really enjoy your commentaries and definitely have the CPU cycles to spare. Just submitted my first work units and am looking forward to submitting loads more. Keep up the great work.

went out of town for the weekend to find my account activated finally. So hello all 4 pages of others who joined and hello Rise, signed myself up and told my buddy to sign up as well who also plays with me and watches your channel. If you quit commentating, i'll uh, not sure what but it won't be pretty.
Thanks for doing this Rise. I lost a very close friend of mine to cancer almost 5 years ago (he was only 18), and it's good to know that I can actually do something to help out.
Hey!
Well you deserve this Rise of course signed up for you! You are the biggest entertainment in concern to internet/series I get in my daily life just so much enjoyment even just listening to you, very genuine and just an awesome guy overall thanks for all you're doing for the community!
What do you stream? Starcraft?
I might watch just because I'm generally bored with nothing to do.
Although I haven't had any problems with crunching and streaming. I used Ustream for that. What site do you use? You could always try Ustream to see if it crashes there.
Hey all :)
I've just joined this type of project for first time thanks to that SC video :)
also, one thing from tutorials looks really outdated
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...2&postcount=12
WCG recommends that the maximum paging file size should be at least 2 or 3 times your real memory size, and should preferably be at least 512MB, whichever is greater.
I would iamgine this changed since 2008 :)
hey Rise!
i heeded your call.
i did share my cpu time with SETI@home, but it's better used fighting cancer instead of finding obscure alien signals.
i really appreciate you using your popularity for a good cause.
oh an keep on the great work!
CHEERS!
I'm very much impressed by this thread. Welcome all! :welcome:
Didn't just join, Rise. As you probably ( or not ) know I've been a team member for a while. However, I just wanted to say what a great "video"! And, oh my God, what a fantastic response. Well done. And of course, a big welcome to all the SC-XS guys!
I'm sorry to hear about your Mom, Rise, she was my exact age now, when you lost her. I know it is hard, as I lost my Dad to lung cancer in 2001. I so hate cancer! It turned me into a cruncher, though. Perhaps the one good thing I can say about it.
Anyway, awesome job. Thanks for sharing your story and your pain. You' are not alone. And being so effective in doing so!
Hi all! Software running.
Welcome!
Hey Rise,
Thanks for bringing this to our attention and keep up your fantastic commentaries!! It must have taken great courage to make this video.
Perfect combination!! (I am also a physics undergrad)Quote:
My vulture play is well described by the free electron model. Free roaming, seemingly random motion of individuals that when viewed as a whole is rather simple and predictable...
Wow im making physics based jokes about starcraft...is that like Geek^2 or something?
Hey Rise! (and hey you xtremeguys :) )
As most of the guys in this thread, I've been following you for I don't know how long, forever? and am of course going to give something back to you. Also, I didn't know about this and it seems to be a good cause, so thank you for that! I have no idea how this works, I just see that my machine is doing some computing and that obviously I generate poins, so I hope I'm doing it right :>
as long as you joined XtremeSystems when you installed the team will be getting the points added. big thanks go out to all you peeps that just signed up!
I'll take two... And can I get that without the guy?
Just wanted to restate what Ikiller123 said - if your processor can handle the heat, make sure you guys pump it up to 100% processor usage. Just go into preferences, processor usage, and make sure the bottom two are both 100
Great job Rise, and thanks for everyone who joined!
I generally stream whatever I happen to play. I just started this streaming business about a week ago, so far I've done e.g. Starcraft, Dragon Age and F.E.A.R. among a few others. I tried out different sites, Procaster was the only software I could get to capture full screen games so at the moment I'm stuck with livestream.com even if I don't really like the site.
I have to admit that after getting my hands on the beta I've barely touched the first game at all anymore myself.
shields up and weapons online my good rise, except for that on a power level in starcraft that my latop would be an scv and my pc would be a zergling. but hey a million zerglings can make a difference in the tide of battle right? hope my pieces of crap computers help.
Hello from Bulgaria, Rise. Thank you for the awesome commentaries and analysis of all the SC2 games so far. They are all amazing!
And thanks for bringing this up. This is quite extraordinary network of ordinary people trying to make a difference and I'm glad to be a part of it =D
Keep up the good work!
Did it. Yes, my mother had breast cancer. She survived. I understand some of your feelings, but I can't relate to you on losing your mother. I am very sorry :(
Good luck with your life! :)
wow, i didn't get a chance to log on to XS over the weekend (was busy casting some epic games :p:) so I was very surprised to come here this morning to see 5 pages of new replies
thanks to every single one of you who joined & of course thanks to the awesome guys at XS for being so receptive, as expected :) it really is, in my mind, one of the greatest ways for us to contribute to beating the crap out of cancer. I know we will be a large factor in the success of a cancer researcher one day typing out "GG" at the end of his paper detailing his cure for this beast and we'll hopefully all be here still to cheer as we see the message "cancer's base is being revealed" :yepp:
I'll have a video up for all of you guys who joined by this saturday to give you a verbal thanks in the best way I can think of - while commentating a game of SC2. I'll have to find an epic match for it to give me enough time to include everyone's name  it's a good problem to have.
-----------------
to all of the XS guys who said thanks - i need to say thanks to you guys first as you're all the reason I ever started crunching in the first place and this is the least I can do to try and give back a little. i tried to make that video about a year ago, but i just couldn't articulate what I felt at that point time because my head was still pretty clouded. it still hurts to talk about it but it's worth it if i can help spread the word of how others can help, especially since so many people are affected by it, every day.
Hey Rise. Thanks for all your videos, especially the "charity" one. I was always sad when I saw my cpu barely used even while playing... Now it's at 100% all the time for a good reason :). Keep up the good work!
Hey Rise gotta say thanks for all that your doing to try and find the cure for cancer (been a member of a folding@home team for about a year) hope that we will be eventually sucessfull in our endevour. Joined up for the XS team and have it set for all 3 of my computers now.
