So, I facilitated the great mystery suicide of this machine.
I came home today to find my computer turned off. The inch of water that normally occupies the reservoir was depleted, but the motherboard light was still blinking in the CPU block...
Against my better judgment, but to ultimately satisfy my curiosity, I tried to turn the computer on. The power button did not work, which should have been a sign not to try, but I'm a jackass :D
Flip the switch on my power supply, press the power button, SPARK, FLAME, amazement and wonderment, power off.
The first video card has burned out at the bottom of the board, near a screw.
The first indicator that there was a problem was the mouse being wet; there was a substantial puddle, but only underneath the mouse (which, I had been using unaware of the issue for about 10 minutes). It was isolated, so I was confused. Then, I saw the res, and the above chain of events occurred.
Who can tell me how I got water outside of the case with the side panel on and the computer running, and the mouse a foot away? I figured out the answer but want to leave it to the rest of you. I also believe I have found the leak; I am unsure of its involvement in the video card. The short could have been caused by the water directly or any other number of indirect factors.
I will figure out what to test and fix in the coming weeks. For now, I have to work every day until Tuesday; I have been since this past Thursday.

Ok, what I thought had happened was the koolance splitter on the bottom leaked, which it did not.
The card leaked somewhere, haven't taken it apart yet, only recently found water on it. So that's on me; I'm an idiot :( Let's hope evga has 275's left over :/
Also, I just looked at the mangled remains and noticed that one of those goddamn primochill ghost compression fittings has broken, as I was warned.
Sigh...
Oh well, give's me a good reason to buy some BP or koolance comps! :D
We'll see what happens with the cards... I wanted tri-sli but it's really just that I don't want to have wasted a unisink...
Wish me luck next week when I actually have time. I might order stuff for two-day so it shows up on wednesday when I'm free.

Trying to RMA that card but EVGA doesn't cover fire damage so we'll see what happens.
I'm stripping it down to dual sli :< but it could be a blessing in disguise based on the intermittent complaints I've seen regarding it and some of the games I play (mainly BF:BC2).
No more compression fittings. Going with the tried and true zip-tie technique; it's a look that I enjoy.
Hey Wezly -glad you're coming out of your funk, hope things work out for you. So, exactly which parts are you missing now?

That is the only issue I have with Swiftech rads... the mounting holes are like, crooked or not tapped properly, or don't line up in a square....
Such a pity this once great product is going backwards in the name of cost-cutting/savings. A time Gabe has a look at these issues and resolve.

I just got 4 sticks of g.skill because one had burn marks. I'll take pics when I'm not busy/lazy... gotta check the board for more water residue on the ram slots as well :/Quote:

unfortunately the moral of the story is that if you see water where it shouldn't be, turn it off or don't turn it on! Its so easy however to let curiosity get the best of you. fortunately I've only lost one GPU due to a stupid leak on my part that was my fault.

board has a bad ram slot.
pump died last night, replaced it, figured I had lucked-out of my bad luck streak (self-induced).
I wouldn't take total responsibility for the ram, but that's bad because it leaked, which was my fault.
If I feel like taking it out, it will be a pain.
I'm pretty much done with this now...
Well, maybe I'll just swap the processor, but, that wouldn't fix this. I know the problem is the board.
EDIT: I threw in 4 more sticks of ram, because one of the original three had burn marks, and only 8GB of 12 is usable...
Definitely need to RMA this...

In my brutally-honest opinion I think you're better off starting anew with new, known-working parts instead of swapping things in and out piecemeal. You may wind up killing more components if something in there is not 100% working. I mean...if you know the motherboard is bad, don't you think it can potentially kill whatever you install on it?

The tRFC's are different, as well as a couple other settings.
