Ok, that's clear. I didn't think of the fact that your uncore doesn't have to be 100% stable for this competition. Nonetheless, you were saying that depending on the quality of your IMC and cache that there is a possibility to run a nearly 9:9 ratio?!?

Somebody on the dutch forum I referred to before is building a new comp. with this TEC. However he didn't finished his build yet so no results from him are yet available. I tried to look for his thread again because I'm also not sure if he's applying this TEC on an i7. I will look a bit further for you on that dutch forum.

Finally, what is this competition actually all about? What do you have to perform to win and at which place are you at the moment? What prizes are there to win?

Yeah, it's not a bad board but it definitely has some quirks. If you have patience to work around them you can get some good results with this board. I am eyeing the EVGA Classified board as well since it is not that far in price from the R2E. I was thinking to pick it up post competition to see how it compares to the R2E. Other than the one measily Vr-Zone preview/review or whatever here http://vr-zone.com/articles/evga-x58....html?doc=6361 there is nothing concrete on it anywhere yet. I figured maybe I'd test it myself :D

I have to agree that the new ability to select the Turbo multiplier is nice.

Hehe, indeed. Maybe I could have used them :p: There are some people here posting decent clocks on their memory, I think the best one so far is over 1150MHz (2300MHz effective). I have to say though that binning of the ICs makes a lot of difference too. Just because they are D9FGTRs or HCF0s does not mean that they will be clock good. If they are poorely binned then they will be nothing special.

It is possible to run the Uncore even higher than QPI link speed but yes this will depend on the quality of your chip's IMC and cache, somewhat your motherboard, and it will definitely require voltages beyond those specified as Intel maximums for QPI Voltage (1.35V). I'd say this is not for the faint of heart lol ;)

I'd definitely be interested in following his build. If you know where it is maybe you can point me to it? i7 or not it would be interesting to see what his results are...

I am currently in the 1st place for highest BCLK MHz. The last prize is a monitor awarded to the thread with the most replies so we will see who gets that one (hint, hint, keep posting hehe :D). Things are pretty close still I'd say.

Edit: it would appear that the current highest memory OC is 1184MHz (2368MHz effective). Pretty darn high already! The guy seems to be hitting the same Uncore wall that I was hitting. Even 1MHz higher in his tests results in instant lock-ups or BSODs. I think I really need to do some comparison runs between this board and the new EVGA Classified to see if this is CPU related or board related.

I would definately go for the Elpida chips, I've tried the HCF0 with "old" Patriot Viper 2000 but they were limited to high speed (2100) with very loose timings, maybe the "new" HCF0 chips are better but I doubt it.

Yup, can't find them here either. I have no idea who would be carrying this. I think I know who would be able to special order them but it would (a) take a long time for the order to complete and (b) it would cost a lot more because it is a special order and not a regular stocked item.

That's the thing, I am not sure how well CSX is binning the HCF0 Diablos. Obviously if they are binned very well then they will be very good overclockers. However, not much info is available on Diablos that I managed to find, particularly on the new triple channel HCF0-based kits. There is more info on the older D9GTRs but I think the HCF0s would be much better if they are indeed binned very well.

Are you aware of any solid overclocking reviews of the tri-channel HCF0 Diablos? Not looking for that flaky TweakTown style review where they want to overclock but are too scared to increase the voltage to the DRAM and/or QPI. :p:

Damn, that board looks really sweet!!!! It has some awesome innovative features which not only look good but are handy as well. Btw VR-Zone refers to this thread for some results.

I would in fact be a bit afraid to fry my CPU like this... but it is all about the cooling i guess ;)

What I said is that the HCF0 I tested were HIGH SPEED but loose timings, I was actually saying just the opposite of your post.

same chips used in Corsair 2GB kit 2133Mhz 9-9-9-. HCF0 are definately High Speed but I just don't like the loose timings.

Yeah, the board does look very nice but it is pricy as hell here...$640 CAD after taxes. I got my R2E for $420. That's a big difference. I will likely pick up this board post competition and do some testing. I just have no time now. I wonder if it will provide any benefits at all over the R2E, or will it be the same old "it's just another X58 clone" story.

Thanks, I do realize it takes a bit of nerves to push the chip. I always look at the temps first and if they seem okay I go more. However, I must say that there is a point where I become uncomfortable going futher too. I pushed this chip to 1.75V on the core which with load line calibration is actually more like 1.78V. That was as far as I was going to go with my cooling.

Binning of HCF0s will definitely determine whether they can go to 2200MHz or much beyond that. Just a misunderstanding I think. :D

WOW :eek:, that's a real fortune indeed. Didn't realize it would be that expensive. You would suggest that the extra features regarding the electrical circuit would provide extra stability to the added components. However there will always be some component that's the bottleneck. A very good mobo with a bad CPU or RAM doesn't guarantee high OC's ofcourse.

hello again :)

So i got my rig to 3800Mhz and i have run some bench's on 4Ghz but i think ill stay with the 3800Mhz for now, but i got one problem and thats is i can't seem to get my memory to default settings 7,7,7:24 i can only get 9,9,9:24 any ideas? :)

God @#$% site and it's no backup feature. Bah! :mad: I lost over 12 posts in this thread, most by other people including my BIOS and verification images. Now I have to repost them again after I manage to dig them up somewhere. I have no words to express my anger!!!! :mad:

Unfortunately, I did not have time/resources to pursue any further prizes. I had highest BCLK too for a while, but posershadow rightfully won that category with a very impressive > 231MHz BCLK :D
