Easy solution for that, just don't lower yourself to AMD standards

Congratulations :)
How much watt was the pelt? (or is this a rude question :p?)
we are back to what i was saying at the beginning, 2 months ago, demos organized by processor manufacturers are kind of meaningless when it gets to Overclocking, because it is possible to tune stuff to death and make it look like every body can do it, if you get the CPU. At this time, people were telling me that I can t get to 6Ghz, so, i got to shut up. The point is still valid.
It is fun to look at, but it does not have any real representation on the full CPU performance, to know, just read the CPU reviews all over the web.

Not fair to say that IMO..
AMD came and did their best with what they had.
Intel did the same.
Both companies showed us what is possible and what awaits us in the very near future.
I think we should be thanking both companies for their involvement not bashing them.
Think about this: We've wanted these companies involved in the overclocking community for years and now we have it.
So what do we do?
Bash them for doing exactly what we wanted them to do?
I fail to see the logic in that.
How many Intel records is done using Engineering Sample CPU's??
Difference is that AMD and other Intel runs were done using EN samples from same as retail revision (eg. RB-C2 or C0). This result is done using not yet available stepping D0. As soon as Intle will push that out on the market everyone should shut up. Till then some people might moan.
I think that big companies like ATI, nVidia, Intel and AMD should have their own sub-space for competition and retail parts should not be compared to them. This way we would have great fun looking at pros fighting each other using components which eventually trip down to us and we would have more level playing field as well.
This a first look at a new processor coming out. Please stop with the bs from the "other" thread. Kind of like :horse:
Well, this is xtremesystems.org. And I believe that you are fully aware that extreme overclocking is the cheapest way to do good marketing...
My comment goes either way to blue team and the green team.
Manufacturers are systematically using the o/cing community to advertise their products.
Thanks for sharing Mikeguava and FUGGER! Congrats on the big number, Im sure there is much more to come!
How is D0 Uncore clocking? Big improvement as well?
IMHO, if AMD or anyone have any AM3 ES chip that can break Intel i7 975 ES chip 3DMark05 world record on FutureMark's site, nothing stop them from claiming it right now.
They will accept it and it will officially become the new world record. It's easy like that.

Of course I don't.
This is business and big business but that doesn't mean that it doesn't work into what we want at the same time.
Life is compromise my friend and in that compromise you give and take.
This is two big companies standing up and saying :" I have the best product. Buy me!"
I have no issues with that at all.
That is capitalism and in the best way.
Now that is the upside for them.
The upside for us is that we have companies listening to what we want.
Just take a look at the people from this hobby that are now influencing manufacturers and working for them.
Look at the boards coming out from such as EVGA and you know damned well that you see Shamino's influence on them.
The hobby is evolving and in a positive way IMO.
We have their 'ear" and they are listening and that is what matters.
I guess I should clarify what I expected regarding ES and WRs.
-A WR could never be submitted using a revision/stepping/model that never makes its way to a retail/OEM chip.
-If you do set a WR using an ES chip (one that ends up being retail/OEM) the score could only be submitted after that model/revision is publicly released. That way you would still own the record, but then the playing field would be open to everyone.
I love the look of those chips as well! Was hard to let Fugger walk out of my place with that gem.
Yeah, incredible. The D0 will allow insane overclocks on air. I think the ES Fugger has can easily bench 3Ds on a single stage at 5GHZ and more. For the benchers D0 should even out the playing field where it will not require "totally" crazy cooling methods to unlock the D0 max potential. In my point of view this is a very nice feat.
I think it was a 40W pelt. Not a rude question at all. The Corsair pelt setup is very nice - I was impressed by this setup.
Another thing that impressed me was that the PC&C 750W survied our bench session. At times we were pulling over 850Watts in GT3 of 3DMark05 and it was plugging along.
TBH we didn't look into this during our bench session, maybe Charles has some more info on that
They are listening by releasing 1k+ USD chips? They are saying they have the best product by showing off hardware that 99.9% of the overclockers here wont have access to? I know that this is not a cheap hobby, but most people's systems cost about as much as a single EE chip. Is that really listening?
Most of the people OC Core i7 920 or QX9650, they are affordable, you don't have to be the best in the world to have fun.

I love watching F1 and other types of racing. Manufacturers showing off what is technically possible with a certain set of restrictions to get the most performance. Advances which are being developed will eventually filter into future production cars.
Fun to watch and follow. Everyone wins.
For the questions about waiting for D0 - I have no clue when the will filter into production, but I have a feeling very soon. I have 2 retail Core I7 920 running at the office - both on air @ 4GHZ 24/7 - both can bench at 4.5GHZ ( not all 8 cores...) I don't think that there is any reason to wait for D0 - unless the uncore imporved significantly
If you would know more about HWbot, you wouldn't say those few things. Sorry for offtopic, but don't talk nonsense.
Mike.. I like F1 too, it is very popular in Finland. If Ferrari would be allowed to use Turbo at season 2009 and gain 500HP+, I think most of the people would loose their interest to that sport pretty fast. See the point? "Just kidding"
About the WR - well let's just all consider this as a demo. In the past ES CPUs have always been slower clock for clock compared to retail cpus. Once the full production starts the golden CPUs will be found in the retail channels. AMD certainly has stepped up the game and it's great. Now Intel is allowing us to see something that is coming up. Great!
Enjoy the show!
