I can't believe he had the b*lls to come in here.

I don't know if many here saw the argument between a guy named Agner and Who. (He recently changed his name to Dr Who...Ego or what :shrug:)
I can't even remember which site it was but this Agner guy really knows his stuff and he posted and exposed all the tricks that intel were pulling with compilers, it was amazing to see how intel could cripple AMD cpu's this way.
Anyway Who came along and tried to argue that it was ok to do it and Agner tore him to shreds, it's the funniest thing I have ever seen on the net. I just wish I could find it now.
Who is the architect of all these compiler shenanigans, so we have him to blame.
Bring on the antitrust case...
I have zero time for the guy and as far as I'm concerned he fits right in with the intel ethos. :rolleyes:

Interesting he came here for a visit.

Well, I just hope for ~4GHz on AIR, but at least two different people confirmed over 6GHz run on Deneb. One person was conservatively saying 6200MHz the other was claiming 6300MHz.

The good thing is, I'm ready to shell money on new Phenom and if necessary a nice SB750 mobo.
The bad thing is, I'm in UK and this means I might need to wait a bit (read lot) longer to get one.

I live in Denmark and are working for a Hardware-shop.

I wonder how much the 940 model will cost.If it's the only one unlocked,it will cost considerably more than the a920 one.But if both are unlocked ,now that would be great:).
Unlocked multi is a must for those insanely high scores and that is telling me it will be restricted only for the top clock model at first.Later on,when they get out say 3.2/3.3/etc. versions,the BE will move onto those models while the lower ones(3Ghz for instance) will remain unlocked for some time then slide into a regular line-up(locked).

I would certainly like that since i almost never buy the high end hardware :).I usually go with mid-range and clock it up to what i feel is "Safe" for usual work.
If locked a920 is indeed a good clocker it will be great,i won't mind much.If it is unlocked,it's icing on the cake :p:

Some times I wonder what it would be like if AMD supporters did drive by flamebaiting in the Intel section like some Intel supporters do here. Would they realize what jerks they're being or would it just make things worse?

It's a f'king processor. Why are we even fighting about it? Do any of you honestly believe we'd be like this if this conversation were happening in person in a room somewhere?

I think lots of guys here are pathetic. I'm sure AussieFX wouldn't call DrWho a low life when they would be in one room. I don't understand why people have to act so stupid about a CPU. We should discuss technical aspects and not flaming about individuals.

As long as this board will support the AM3 CPU's then it would make an unbeatable HTPC. I want to know which GPU's will run in the PCI-E slot though as it only runs at 4x as opposed to 16x.

On the other hand even 2.8GHz (14x multi) locked should be able to clock using only HTT to about 250x14=3500MHz.. I would say this is AMAZING :p:

We already saw most 9950BE are doing 270MHz-280MHz HTT on 790 boards, so my estimate is very conservative.

If deneb runs 1.35v @ default 1.5v is no big deal, for shure.

How about 32C on air @ 3.9Ghz? It's the low current leakage in the new Phenom II transistor design. Compared to i7 heat at 3.8Ghz, you can see the advantages for ocing a Phenom II. Not to imply that Phenom II is better in design to i7, it just seems to run cooler.

Exactly,Phenom IIs use relatively high stock vids while maintaining excellent power draw,ie. a lot less then Agena.I would dare say that even if rated at 125W TDP, the 940@3Ghz will consume around ~100W or even less in full laod on 4 cores under prime.Overvolting it to even 1.6V under a good air cooler or wc will be 18% over stock vcore(power draw will rise 39% over stock without touching frequency,a bit more with frequency change,but this is understandable and just in line with physics laws).
