Any tips on overclocking this mobo?
I´m getting a hard time getting passed 220HT... used to intel mobos so this is quite different.

Finally getting back to AMD clocking.
I've been watching to see how the Phenom BE's clock, but I don't see much about them, guess that means they're not too good.
Yesterday I got a regular 9600, updated to the 801 BIOS, here's were I am so far.:D

It'll run 3DMark 06 @ 2852 MHz, but won't even do SuperPi 1M @ 2875 MHz, guess I have more tweaking to do.

I gave up with SuperPi
Everything else runs just fine. Ran Othros for over 3 1/2 hours without errors
If other benchies or programs are running without problems I wouldn't worry too much about it.
That is a good overclock indeed. Are you guys happy with the ASUS mobo. How are the BIOS support?
I find I can usually run SuperPi right on the edge of stability, while you need to be much more stable to run 3DMark. In this case I have a difference of only 25 MHz, I think I have something set wrong or there's a BIOS issue at that speed. I'll find the problem eventually. :)
I like this board, I can get about 100 MHz more on the CPU with this board compared to the Crosshair. Clocks ram like crazy with low volts. Would like more ram settings to play with. Asus is doing OK with the BIOS, could be a little faster. Great board for an X2, seems to be good with Phenom so far. :yepp:
Hmm, if I was fairly sure I could keep 2.8 stable I might try one of these boards.
Right now I can't even hold 2640. 2.4 is effortless and I to start struggle high in 2.5.
I was running at 2760 MHz with the stock AMD heatpipe cooler, idle temp were about 40C. Switched to water, temps went down to high 20s and was able to get 100 MHz better o/c. Seems to be easy to 240 htt then it gets tough, don't know if it's the CPU or board.
It seems all the 790 boards struggle from 240 upwards. Same with the DFI i had and now my currrent one the MSI.
Could someone post oc settings for this mobo please :)
Here's what I've been running for the last three weeks
Phenom 9500@2772 MHz
NB and HT @ 2016
Bios 704 and 801
FSB freq 252
PCIE freq 110
Processor multi 11.0x
NB freq multi 8.0x
CPU volts 1.3250v
processor-NB volts 1.1500v
HT link 1.6GHz (8.0x)
North Bridge Voltage [manual]
--Hypertransport voltage 1.4v
CPU tweak [disable]
DCT Unganged Mode enabled
and set DDR voltage to what your rams are rated
Do any of you guys have any detailed information about the bios settings and to what they mean?
Another question, does Asus allow you to downgrade from 801 to lower versions? Has anyone tried to down flash an 801?
Had that very problem with my M2N32deluxe... Had Bios 1603...It wouldnt flash back 1201...
Then some one posted this for me........AWDFLASH 1201.BIN /PY /SN /F
Just download the 132 AWDflash tool and the preveouse bios and load to USBstick or Floppy or CD...You will type your bios name instead of 1201 like above..
Make a System boot disk and insert disk ....If your trying to go back to 701bios ..you would type in AwdFlash and the BIOS NAME that you put on a disk or floppy or USB ,like below at the :\:D Make shure to use the spacing and typ it exactly how it is below for the exception of what bios version you are entering.
Example :For Floppy A:\ or what every your USB or CD is designated.. lets say its D:\
D:\ AWDFLASH.EXE 701.BIN /PY /SN /F
Playing a bit more tonight, these things are very touchy, set the voltage 1 step too high and the thing won't boot. All about balance I guess. So here's where I'm at, :D
CPU - 1.437V
NB - 1.2375V
VDDA - 2.6V
Ram - 2.08V
NB Multi - 8X
HT - 8X or 1.6 GHz
Had a nice SuperPi run 25.142s couldn't get the screenie
I'll play a bit more tomorrow.

so, at this moment what's the best BIOS for this mobo?
It appears that all mobo manufactures have loopy bios guess I am right about the AMD Bios code thing after all.
Brother Esau
Loopy bios, that's an understatement if I ever heard one!
No word from bingo13 about possible new BIOS for this mobo!?
Bingo13 posted new bios for Giagabyte just before:)
Almost 3D stable, go look in the 3D06 thread! :)
Yes I have the chiller on it, but either the CPU or the BIOS or the ATI drivers don't like the cold, so I was @ 8C at idle. Had the thing @ -7C, it had a hissy fit, trying to work out the problem.
CPU is : CAAZB AA 0743 FPMW
Yes I've noticed. I'm looking for him, 'cos the last BIOS that he posted or ASUS mobo (0704) doesn't allow Unganged mode with DDR2-1066! And I was wondering does he has some remedy!?
BTW
In Sandra 2008 SP1, and in Nuclearus 2.0 you can easily measure big difference between Ganged and Unganged mode!
