Guys is there any proof that Premium is better of Delux in terms of OC.

Did anyone changed his mb from deluxe to premium and noticed 20 mhz higher stable oc on CPU or mem or something ?

Also vdrop is that giving you any stability problem with deluxe ? Coz i can't see any advantage in fixing that anyway.

I confirm, the Premium is better with the quad core. The pwm was really hot with the Deluxe. It's better with the new components on the premium

Seems like there are a lot of minute differences on the P5K Premiums depending on batch and factory.

The one on Newegg site has PCB made in Taiwan and MEC inductor beside the DIMM slots.

The one on the first page has all round RIO inductors.

I have two Premiums, one has RIO inductors all round but CPU area is 'brandless R68', and the second premium has a MEC inductor for the DIMMs but 'brandless R68' for the CPU area. Even the DIMM slot manufacturers are different for both boards! I'm getting a board with all 4 slots having the same kind of clips, while the other has differing pairs (like the one on the front page)!

I haven't come across any other brand that has so many differing components for the same revision number. :shocked:

But I like the Premium, clocking my previously stubborn Crucial 10th Anniversary much better than my old board.

Got mine today, I will play with it over the weekend. My P5W DH was not playing nice with my Q6600 G0 so what better excuse?

you're talking about a max of probably 0.1V & on average more like 0.05V - whilst it may be a partial reason I can't see it being the whole reason for a 20-40W difference.

I have an issue with the premium

when I set 4 4 4 12 2T in bios, load into XP and finally I have 4 5 5 15 ...

any suggestion ?

For those who gets occansionally si~si~ sound with the on board sound, use the P5B Premium Vista sound driver will fix, now it is fine :D

nicepun, I am torn between getting a P5K Premium and assemble now or waiting until around December (college break) and getting an X38 board. I'm very interested in your results.

Anything in particular you would like to see? 450x8 is w/ 1.43vcore is no sweat thus far. I've been able to bench @ 4Ghz (3DMark06). I'm still trying to find the sweet spot.

Not really anything in particular, I'll wait for you to find you 24/7. It's just having water cooling and a Q6600 G0 at 3 ghz seems like wasted potential :D

Well, so far when you enable the Intel RAID Controller, the OC because VERY UNSTABLE. Anyone else expriencing the same?

I had this board for 2 days & couldnt get anything stable when raid is enabled. Needles to say I was the first to post on NE for a review.:down:

Also, are you using 8 or 4 pin for the cpu?

Additional Comments:

Just to give you an example of what I mean I set the OC to 480x7 and set the SATA to RAID, as soon as you see the windows logo it crashes and reboots, but if I set the SATA to IDE everything is fine and dandy.

Check your PCIE frequency...Mine likes to bump up to 150 for some reason after tweaking settings in the BIOS occasionally and my drives set for AHCI but not RAID are not detected when that happens....

Im running raid0 on one set of WD Raptors with Vista 64bit and raid0 on another set of WD Raptors with XP for a dual boot config.....no problems my end with Q6600 @ 3.6GHz - 9 x 400 fsb.
