I posted the same thing about a month ago. The chips are powerchips. I've been able to get them to 800 4-4-4-12 with 2.08v.
It seems that higher vdimm didn't help, and actually hindered. And I wasn't able to do better on tras.
Total, I recall the limit I saw being around 850mhz stably.
edit: most people seem to be doing a little bit better than me though and do see results with more vdimm than I have
powerchips are promos????
what is their max safe voltage??
thanks for you quick answer
EDIT: i can't find your pic. can yo link it to me?
EDIT2: already found it. seen people reaching around 450-480 at 2,3 or less volts.
but i don't know what voltage is safe for them.
these results are very similar to the ones i achieved with geil ultra 800 (UDC)
they did 475 4-4-4-12 2,2V and 508 5-5-5-12 2,2V. muybe new geil ultras are powerchips
i haven´t tried yet serious overclock,
but i can do 800 at 1,95 totally stable at 4-4-4-12
2,2-2,3V is safe for these mems, if i actively cool them?
@ RyderOCZ
Can you tell me if OCZ DDR2 PC2-8500 Platinum SLI-Ready Edition Dual Channel (OCZ2N10662GK)
Have D9GMH or D9GKX?
And something else..
The differences of OCZ2N1066SR2GK and OCZ2N10662GK are only the heatspreaders?
Thanx
well i have now done some overclock to these KVR with powerchips.
the results are very very similar to the ones I obtained with muy geil ultra (orange).
i can do 475 4-4-4-12 @ 2,2V al least 32m pi-stable and
520 5-5-5-15 @ 2,2 no stable at all, so 500 will be stable.
kingston uses brainpower pcb??
here are the ic's of my ampx

may i ask a question?
Is it all the micron ddr2 ram are D9 family (no matter fatboy or slimboy ) ?? :D
yes
Geils GX22GB6400UDCA='s confirmed D9GMH .these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820144062
This is my thread over at OCforums with Pic's(not the greatest but you can see). And yes these are GX22GB6400UDCA='s I bought them a few months back when my OCZ were in RMA and now im glad i did.I knew they acted and OCed the just as well as my OCZ's with D9GMH IC's but i just had a decxent set of Geils with the SpecTek-3 IC's

I have just purchased the Corsair CMX512-8500 1GB kit. The code on the heatspreader is XMS 8505 v1.4. These are not listed on corsair DDR2 IC list. What IC's are used on my ram?
Yup, just like the ones I have 4GB of. The max I got was 900mhz on 4-4-4-12 (1:1 ratio) on 2.10v - but since my mobo died from trying a BIOS update, I haven't moved from he generic BIOS of my P5B :(http://www.marcrigby.co.uk/Crockett/GeIL6400.jpg
Are Micron D9DCN good overclockers?
Hi everyone
got this mem recently, it was quite a cheap. OCZ DDR2 PC2-5400 Gold GX XTC Dual Channel 2 GB kit, nominal is 1.8/667/4-4-4-12. Currently stable on 3-3-3-9 with 2.0 and 1.9v, not really sure about stability @ 1.8v, no real testing was run on this voltage, but rig is able to start win then definitely :)
Any ideas of what the chips are there? Google, http://ramlist.ath.cx/ddr2/ - doesn't seem to know what the chips are.. I can't check myself, because i'm not sure that i'll be able to get heatspreader back so it wont be noticeable that i removed it... but chips are pretty small(NOT BT-3 definitely), 10*11 mm or about so, longer side perpendicular to mobo.
And last, is this mem a real crap? will I be able to reach 450 fsb 1:1 with it on a P5B Dlx? Or i'd better begin thinking of changing it for something better?
Thnx for any answers.
I got confirmation from corsair that my 8500 modules are micron IC's. All current 8500 modules use micron IC's.
Not really. They're 12x10mm, 60-ball ICs binned at DDR2-533 4-4-4 by Micron and are mainly used on value RAM.
Most likely ProMOS. Fits the description and is often used by OCZ.
In case of OCZ only memory with a rating of PC2-7200 or higher uses Micron.
ProMOS sure is able to run at 450MHz. Even 500+MHz is possible.Quote:

That is correct. :)
well these babies really caught my attention:

anyone tried using these? any comments about it? before i go and get it.:)
OCZ DDR2 PC2-7200 Platinum Enhanced Latency XTC 2.1V 886@4-4-4-15 Micron D9GKX chips
Does this still hold true?
chips??? = Promos in both revisions, R1 & R2.Quote:
OCZ DDR2 PC2-6400 Platinum Enhanced Latency XTC 2.1V 800@4-5-4-15 chips???
Guys, does it matter where the rams are made?
I was offered some D9GMHs made in Malaysia, singapore and the US.
that left me thinking which ones shld i get
What about G.Skill F2-8500CL5D-2GBHK, I have 4 of these 1GB sticks and on the chips it says Ballistix 0732-25F , I emailed g.skill they said either GMH or GKX,,, is there a way to tell which it is.
These are somewhat older G.Skill modules as they're simply Crucial Ballistix with a facelift.
As the ICs say '-25F' you have Micron D9Gxx binned at 400MHz (DDR2-800). This could in fact be either D9GMH or D9GKX.
There's no way of telling which one it is, but it doesn't really matter.
Thanks r00n, what does binned at 400MHz mean? I guess it's DDR2 800 thats clock to 1066MHz? That would explain why I have a hard time overclocking it at all? It runs fine 4-4-4-8 @ 1000MHz, but always memtest errors if I raise the MHz ~1160 on the next divider.
-E- the chips are 10.0x10.0mm if that helps.
It means Crucial (Micron) successfully tested the IC at a speed of 400MHz (DDR2-800).
This doesn't necessarily mean the IC won't do higher speeds, proven by the fact that it's used in a PC2-8500 kit.
All PC2-8500 memory is actually overclocked PC2-6400, because the latter is the highest DDR2-specification designed by JEDEC.Quote:

No, I don't think it's that simple. Crucial Ballistix PC2-6400 overclocks pretty good and they use the same -25F ICs.Quote:

Try running it at 5-5-5-15. Clockspeed is more important than timings and you will need looser timings to gain a higher clockspeed.Quote:

Use a higher voltage if necessary, but try not to go over 2.3V for too long. Also put a fan over the modules.
No, that doesn't help. Both Micron D9GMH and D9GKX are 10x10mm. ;)Quote:
-E- the chips are 10.0x10.0mm if that helps.
It says it's meant to be running 2.3v - 2.4v, so I have it always 2.3v and yes it's always very warm, especially with 4 slots full. Looking at a way to mount some fans on it the past few days. But according to g.skill 2.4v still covers life time warranty.
When I tried 1150MHz+ i used 5-5-5-15.
are D9GCTs good stuffs ?
I spotted some of them at a shop a few days back.
is this ram still d9gXX or spel-tek3?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820144062
when this super talent came out about 1 or 2 years back it was near the best you could get. the heatspreader has changed, but do you know what chips they are using?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820609026
i am currently using g.skill hz (2gb) and this ram is still around $140 per kit so i was looking for a cheaper set of d9gmh to match them. thanx.
As far as I know these still have D9GMH.
I've come across numerous cases where they had ProMOS. Not the best chance of getting Micron.Quote:

You could have found both answers using my DDR2 RAM List. ;)
G.Skill 6400HZ is just under $130 at Newegg. If by 'match them' you mean you're planning to use them together with the other G.Skills you might want to reconsider getting a different kit.Quote:

Using two different kits at the same time could result in compatibility issues and besides, $130 isn't that much. :)
so mind me for asking but what currntly the best chip out there?
Picked up the RMA on my G.Skill F2-8500CL5D-2GBHK today, is stamped D9GMH this time instead of Ballistix. Hopefully when I RMA the other set it comes back the same.
I got new Super Talent RAMs...
T1000UB1G4
They are rated 1000MHz at CL4-5-4-15!
What chips could be on them? On the DDR2 list I only can find ST PC8000 RAM with latencies CL5-5-5-15, but this one is different...:(
I dont want to unmount the heatspreader for its kinda "glued" on, its not like it has clips to unattach it or something, still I am curios...
These chips tough can perfrom at 1GHz in CL4-4-4-12 ~ 2.15V
Any idea? Might have the chance they got micron d9... ?
Okay, I just received the answer from Super Talent support, in regarding to what kind of chips used on my T1000UB1G4 modules.
Here it is:cool:
:clap:Quote:
Dear Customer,
Yes they are Micron D9 – not sure which batch though.

I just ordered a GSkill PC8000 2x2GB kit. Hopefully I'll be able to get above 1000mhz in my setup. The Corsair PC6400 sticks I was using just weren't cutting it.
Hm, dont u know, is there a way, I could check out the sub-timings for these rams. I just dont want them run 10-10-10-11, IF I could go lower:)
Okay, i figured it out! In BIOS I set the timings "By SPD", aka automaic :)
Here it goes, not bad, iznit? :D
http://aycu04.webshots.com/image/396...0064935_rs.jpg
I'm no expert here, just learning myself, but PL12 is pretty bad?? On my P35 and x38 boards when at stock clocks and timings with ddr1066 ram I have a PL4 or mby PL5.
Oh ok, I didn't know that. :)
Now you do!
Anyway, Perfromance Level aka. Static Read Control in BIOS can be set of course (disabled, auto, fast, faster)!
I did try it, just out of curiousity, set it to Faster! That gave under XP the PL to 10! Not much difference to 12 tough... :) I dont have to say, none of the benchmarks
showed improvement!
Another thing, in OC era, if you want to achive higher memory clock, Static Read Control (PL) should be set to disabeld.
this is nice info mate
do you guys know if my 2x1gb Corsair XMS2 800mhz rev 5.2 / 5-5-5-12 at 1.9V can handle the clock of 1066????????
wich Vdimm?
in a maximus formula, with Q6600 running 3.6ghz stable.......
First of all, this depends on what chips were used. Check with Corsair's IC Inquiry Thread to see what your memory has.
Second, it's basically trial and error. Up the clockspeed and voltage until you reach the max.
tanx, going to it now!
but no MICRON chips here, I doubt that!
eheheh
Question about the OCZ PC2-6400 2GB SLI Ready kit (part # OCZ2N800SR2GK) with timings of 4-4-4. Looked at the Ram list a while back and I think that I remember these being Promos based. Tried the list right before posting and couldn't get it to come up.
Does anyone know if these still use Promos and if so, would it be the same Promos chips used in the G.Skills HKs...the ones with the Blue heatspreaders, or are there different Promos being used?
I don't think that they are great overclockers, but should be capable of 450-475, maybe even 500MHz, I would think. Anybody have a set that they could share their experience with?
I found a set yesterday at my new CompUSA/Tiger Direct store mislabeled and got them for $9.99, plus sales tax. Didn't really need them, but at that price, what the heck.
I just bought 2GB KIT of Corsair XMS2 PC6400 CL4 ram. Version 6.2. Couldnt find this on the RAM list..
What chips are on them? Any chance of micron?
Specs:
PC6400
CL4-4-4-12
2.10V
Ver: 6.2
LOL, you are hoping for the D9.
Corsair are using 4 or 5 brands of DRAM chips for their 2x1GB XMS2. By reading the numbers written on the modules or on the package you can't determinate which chips are placed on your RAMs.
Ask the RAM guy :p
www.asktheramguy.com
I did:)
This is what I got:
So its POWERCHIP?Quote:

........................XMS640X v4.X...QIMONDA.......64MX8...Rev.C
........................XMS640X v6.X...PSC..............128Mx8
How good is that compared to, like micron d9gct or gkx?
Roon, u could update DDR2 ramlist with this one, revision 6.2 CMX2 Corsair product, having Powerchip!
Hmm... probably its my bad, but cant find on the list, still :)
http://ramlist.ath.cx/ddr2/
On this list there is still no 6.2 rev XMS2 with CL4 2.1V powerchip:rolleyes:
Powerchip is awesome chip, too. As far as I knew, they widely used fo 4gb kit
Buffalo Fierstix's 1gig pc6400 do 1200 eazly at 2.1volt at cas 5
aren't there any 4gb kit that are microns?
see i have 2x1gb microns & was planning to upgrade into 2x2gb but all i can find are powerchips...would changing my microns for psc be a bad move?
4G (2x2G) equipped with D9s ? no ... ;)
Only in case you buy 4 x 1G D9s ...
Just buy a nice 2x2G kit, most of them hit ~950-1000MHz @ CL5 anyway ... :)
thanks George_o/c!
Elpida. Same for the 4-4-4-15 revision 2 dimms. Low bandwidth, high latency, little OC headroom but reliable at 2.0V. Increasing voltage beyond 2.0V does little.Quote:

I've been searching for an updated list. ICs are changing. Been buying Tracers, but Crucial is selling crap now. I'm looking for buying with the possibilty of D9GKX's. Any suggestions?
